It’s taken a long time, but the Xbox Series X|S, as well as Xbox One consoles, finally look to get rolling with some console exclusives.
Immersive horror experience The Medium was the first to arrive, coming out in February 2021, with Second Extinction set to join the Xbox exclusively among consoles.
Already available in its early access state on Steam, the Systematic Reaction-developed title will become available across Xbox consoles in the next few months.
Second Extinction Xbox release date set for Spring 2021
Last summer, when Microsoft and Sony were going toe-to-toe with the ninth generation of consoles on the way, the Xbox Series X was often the first to release new information.
In its much-maligned and heavily down-voted ‘First Look Xbox Series X Gameplay’ video, from May 2020, Xbox unveiled that the high-octane Second Extinction would be coming to the console.
Now, the company has announced that Second Extinction will finally arrive for Xbox players in Spring 2021, placing its launch between 1 March and 31 May. As such, its release could arrive one year after its reveal.
Second Extinction will be a part of Xbox Game Preview, which presumably means that it will get a digital-only release and still be a work-in-progress at launch.
What to expect from Second Extinction
Second Extinction is a first-person shooter set in a world filled with vicious and mutated dinosaurs. Featuring frantic, team-based action, you’ll be tasked with taking out populations of massive prehistoric creatures across huge maps.
There’re hefty guns, explosive gory kills, and lots of teeth, giving Second Extinction the makings of an exciting and quite unique action title in the modern space.
The gameplay footage above was released in September 2020, with the game having been in early access on Steam since 14 October 2020. So, you can dig into the dino-exploding action before Second Extinction’s Xbox release date, and keep up with the latest updates through the development team’s News Hub.
There’s not long to wait for Xbox gamers who wish to prove themselves worthy of surviving the Second Extinction.
