Created by Mighty Bear Games, Butter Royale is the latest game to hit the virtual shelves of the Apple Arcade.

The game takes the now-common genre of battle royale but gives it a foodie twist, with food items as melee weapons and other ranged foodie bits ready to pick-up in battle.

Bolstered by a fun aesthetic and a couple of game modes, Butter Royale looks to be another great addition to increasingly grand Apple Arcade subscription service.

Mighty Bear Games is a relatively young game studio, being founded in 2016 in Singapore, but they have already released a couple of games to the Google Play Store, including World of Legends and Mighty Pets & Puzzles.

Now, for the Apple Arcade, the team has built a fast-paced, third-person shooter, battle royale game called Butter Royale.

The game features both online and offline solo play, with the online multiplayer battles seeing 32 players pile into the nine zones of Butter Island to fight until just one remains.

Battling online doesn’t just mean battling alone, however, with the opportunity for you to team up with four other players in squads. If online multiplayer isn’t your style, you can play the battle royale title solo offline.

In-game, there are special food-based objectives that will influence your gameplay, such as the hot melting butter – which you must flee from to get to safe zones – and the special delivery of the fridge to get ultra-rare loot.

From the start of the game, there are 50 characters, a bunch of food-themed melee weapons, different tracks, and a selection of flags so that you can fully customise your loadout in Butter Royale.

The developers of this culinary combat creation will be releasing content, such as characters and melee weapons, as exclusive seasonal unlockables, giving plenty of reason to keep coming back to battle on the Butterfield.

Mighty Bear has also announced that the game doesn’t feature loot boxes, chats, tracking, in-app purchases, or advertising: simply being a full and fun game that’s available on Apple Arcade.

Apple Arcade is shaping up nicely

Apple Arcade has made a habit of releasing a new game each week, but this week, subscribers were treated to two new titles on the platform.

Butter Royale is the most recent to join the £4.99 ($4.99) per month service, but the classic arcade game character Pac-Man also received a new game for Apple Arcade earlier this week.

Entitled Pac-Man Party Royale, the Bandai Namco Entertainment game is an all-vs-all game of Pac-Man where four players enter, and only one comes out on top.

Among the platform’s headline games are Shinsekai into the Depths from Capcom, Sonic Racing from Sega, Lego Brawls, Sneaky Sasquatch from RAC7, Konami’s Frogger in Toy Town, Towaga: Among Shadows by Noodlecake, and Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm by Cornfox & Brothers.

For sports fans, there’s also the high-octane Ultimate Rivals: The Rink, which features star athletes from across the major US sports leagues and teams, including the likes of Connor McDavid, Megan Rapinoe, Odell Beckham Jr, Clayton Kershaw, Diana Taurasi, and LeBron James.

The foodie-fun take on the battle royale genre with Breadzookas and massive slapping steaks adds yet another exciting game to the Apple Arcade platform.

Butter Royale is available to play online or offline right now!
