Via an email blast, the development team announced that Beyond Blue would be swimming into PC, PS4, and Xbox One stores on 8 June.
The release is perfectly timed, coming out during World Oceans Week, with the Apple Arcade version having already launched in time for Earth Day.
On top of the big release date unveil, E-Line Media also dropped a brand new gameplay trailer on their YouTube channel (which you can see below).
New Beyond Blue release date and gameplay trailer
To couple the Beyond Blue release date of 8 June, the new 2:30 gameplay trailer lets us get a better idea of what to expect from the game.
The trailer showcases the stunning environments, animal design, and futuristic tech that you’ll need to utilise while playing as the protagonist, Mirai.
By the looks of it, you’ll initially be tasked with scanning and recording the animals of the ocean and then examining them in your aquatic base.
You’ll also be able to select your interactions and venture out at different times of day and night, enabling you to see how the denizens of the deep behave in the darkness.
The trailer comes to a close with Mirai saying “this dive just keeps getting stranger” and the person presumed to be the person running the exploration, André, telling her “I have something I know you’ll want to see.”
For now, the Beyond Blue release date is for Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and the Humble Store, but the website does also note that more are to be announced. So, eventually, Beyond Blue may also come to the Nintendo Switch as well.
Having been made alongside the Blue Planet II team at BBC Studios, Beyond Blue has a lot of potential, with it coming out at the perfect time to help reinforce the integral message of protecting the world’s oceans.
At the time of writing, a price couldn’t be found on any of the 8 June release date platforms for Beyond Blue.
