At the foot of the page, you’ll find a full list of all the best AMRs in FM21.
Mohamed Salah (CA 179 – PA 184)
Wage: £200,000 p/w
Value: £77 million
Best Attributes: 18 Finishing, 18 Acceleration, 18 Pace
While there are a handful of players with higher current abilities who can play on the right, guys like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Sadio Mané are better suited to either playing up front or on the left.
Best deployed as an attacking inside forward or supporting inverted winger, the Egyptian international’s pace (18), acceleration (18), and natural fitness (17) give him one of the best engines in FM21.
Throw in great finishing (18) and dribbling (16), and you have a star capable of cutting inside from the right, beating the offside trap, and either blasting home a long-range effort or delicately placing a shot on target.
The now-29-years-old Salah joined Liverpool from Italian club Roma in 2017 for the princely sum of £37.9 million, eclipsing the previous club record £35 million spent on striker Andy Carroll. He has gone on to score 125 goals and net 47 assists in 203 appearances for the Anfield giants across all competitions.
Bernardo Silva (CA 171 – PA 180)
Team: Manchester City
Wage: £150,000 p/w
Value: £69 million
Best Attributes: 20 Work Rate, 19 Agility, 18 Balance
Another player with the work rate and stamina to push up and down the right flank consistently for the full 90 minutes, Bernardo Silva represents one of the very best options for the right wing.
Used as an attacking inverted winger, supporting inside forward, or advanced playmaker, Silva is more than capable of beating defenders on the edge and cutting back inside to deliver a quality cross.
Silva’s strengths are in his work rate (20), agility (19), and balance (18). Throw in a fairly determined personality and the flexibility of being able to drop deeper or play in more central roles, and there’s plenty of value to be had in investing in him.
The Portugal international moved from AS Monaco to Manchester City in 2017, going on to score his first Champions League goal for the club in a hefty win against Basel midway through his inaugural season. He has racked up 35 goals and 44 assists in 201 appearances for City while also amassing 59 caps for Portugal.
Antoine Griezmann (CA 171 – PA 185)
Wage: £600,000 p/w
Value: £63 million
Best Attributes: 18 Off The Ball, 17 Finishing, 17 First Touch
Blessed with a striker’s knack for scoring and a winger’s flair for creativity, there are few players as talented and beautiful to watch as Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann. The 29-year-old Frenchman is absolutely one of the best investments in attacking football available in FM21.
Capable of cutting back inside and dribbling through the middle of the park, Griezmann is able to shoot from distance, can throw in a cheeky lob, or play a killer through-ball with inch-perfection.
In-game, he’ll utilise his dribbling (16), crossing (16), and vision (16) to create a hatful of chances. Griezmann is best used as a supporting inside forward or advanced playmaker on the right.
Having carved out a great career at Spanish club Atlético Madrid, he made the switch to rivals Barcelona in July 2019 for a hefty £108 million, despite some conjecture from Atlético around his buyout clause. Since, the Mâcon-native has bagged 35 goals in 99 matches for the Blaugrana.
Thomas Müller (CA 164 – PA 168)
Team: Bayern Munich
Wage: £275,000 p/w
Value: £57 million
Best Attributes: 20 Off The Ball, 19 Natural Fitness, 19 Anticipation
Generally considered the pioneer or prototype Raumdeuter, or ‘interpreter of space’ in modern football, Thomas Müller’s use of space and technical read make him one of the most unique and interesting players around.
Müller’s movement through the channels and ability to play deft one-twos is marvellous to watch and mystifying to the defence trying to contain him. Coupled with an incredible natural fitness (19), work off the ball (20), anticipation (19), and work rate (17), he’s the perfect attacking weapon.
The German forward is also an experienced winner, having spent his entire career with Bayern Munich, playing a huge part in the raft of domestic and European trophies that they have scooped up over the last two decades.
Müller found himself in the Bayern youth system in 2000 before going on to make his debut for the club in August 2008. Since then, he has gone on to notch 214 goals and 218 assists in 581 appearances across all competitions.
Ángel Di María (CA 164 – PA 174)
Team: Paris Saint-Germain
Wage: £235,000 p/w
Value: £27.5 million
Best Attributes: 18 Agility, 17 Passing, 17 Crossing
Often described as enigmatic and temperamental, Argentine winger Ángel Di Maríahas played for some of the biggest and best clubs in the world. Di María went from helping his parents work in a coal yard to signing youth terms with Rosario Central as a four-year-old prodigy.
Di María is blessed with superb passing (17) and crossing (17), which allow him to create countless attacking opportunities on the right or left flank. He also boasts adequate technique (17), finishing (14), and composure (16) to contribute some goals himself.
A move to Benfica in July 2007 saw him perform well enough to attract the attention of Spanish mega-club Real Madrid, who secured his services for £29.7 million. He would make 190 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring 36 goals and notching 85 assists before an ill-fated season with Manchester United led to a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Douglas Costa (CA 160 – PA 172)
Team: Bayern Munich (on-loan from Juventus)
Wage: £195,000 p/w
Value: £39.5 million
Best Attributes: 19 First Touch, 19 Technique, 18 Acceleration
Currently on-loan to Bayern Munich from Italian giants Juventus in FM21, Douglas Costa has the flair and skill common among attacking prodigies from a Brazilian favela to European football.
He has used his tremendous technique (19), flair (18), and acceleration (18) to carve out a niche on the flanks, combining these with his top-notch first touch (19) and dribbling (18) to be a deadly attacking option.
Costa has the ability to shoot from distance and with power, as well as pull it back and shoot with a deft touch. He’ll also opt to create opportunities for himself by cutting inside from the right wing as often as possible. The classy winger is also capable of knocking the ball past an opponent and beating them for pace down the touchline.
Having made a name for himself at Brazilian club Grêmio, Costa made a move to Ukraine in January 2010, signing for Shakhtar Donetsk. He scored 38 times and made 40 assists in 203 games at Shakhtar, which caught the eye of Bayern Munich, and subsequently, Juventus.
Looking to spark his career with a season-long loan move back to Bayern Munich in 2020/21, he won a third Bundesliga title but only featured in 11 league games. Juventus have since loaned Costa back to his boyhood club, Grêmio.
Ousmane Dembélé (CA 159 – PA 171)
Value: £50 million
Best Attributes: 18 Dribbling, 18 Flair, 18 Acceleration
At one time, Ousmane Dembélé was the joint-second most expensive footballer ever, and it’s not hard to see why given his youth, potential, and some very handy traits which make him a great option on the right flank.
Dembélé’s dribbling (18), flair (18), agility (17), and acceleration (18) make him one of the faster wingers in FM21, and put him in a great position to be able to push past defenders or take advantage of one-on-one situations. He is capable of cutting inside on both wings, is very comfortable running with the ball, and is not afraid to change things up between a deftly placed shot or some trickery to beat his man.
The Frenchman commenced his career with Rennes, moving into the reserves in September 2014. He began carving out a senior career there, up until July 2016, when Borussia Dortmund brought his talents to Germany.
In August 2017, however, Barcelona came knocking and announced they had secured the French international’s services for a mammoth £121.5 million. When fit, the 24-year-old has been good on the pitch, scoring 30 goals and assisting a further 21 in 118 games.
