NBA 2K22 Ratings: Best Centers in the Game

Here is a look at the best centers to use in NBA 2K22.

Although shooting has become an essential part of the game, having a dominant center can still give your team a huge advantage in the modern-day NBA.

Whether it is for rebounding, paint protection, or easy baskets down low, teams without a good center will be at a huge disadvantage when dealing with mismatches.

As a result, when picking a team on NBA 2K22, having a strong center should be at the front of your mind. To help you find just that, here is a list of the best centers in NBA 2K22.

Joel Embiid (OVR 95)

Overall Rating: 95
Position: C
Team: Philadelphia 76ers
Archetype: Two-Way Three-Level Scorer
Best Stats: 98 Offensive Consistency, 98 Shot IQ, 96 Post Control

Though he had a multitude of injury issues early in his career, Joel Embiid has consistently been one of the best centers in the league over the past few years. The Philadelphia 76ers’ center had a very strong 2020/21 campaign, averaging 28.5 points 10.6 rebounds, and was an NBA All-Star for the fourth straight season.

With a 95 overall rating and a two-way three-level scorer archetype, Embiid is once again one of the most well-rounded centers in NBA 2K22. There are very few centers in the league, if any, who have the size, skill, and athleticism to guard and contain him.

Equipped with 12 finishing and 11 shooting badges, Embiid can dominate his opponents in multiple ways. Add that to seven Gold defensive badges, and it’s easy to see why he is also considered one of the best paint protecting centers in the game.

Nikola Jokić (OVR 95)

Overall Rating: 95
Position: Center
Team: Denver Nuggets
Archetype: Facilitating Three-Level Scorer
Best Stats: 98 Close Shot, 97 Stamina, 95 Post Control

Nikola Jokić of the Denver Nuggets is another elite center in NBA2K22, and a player whose skill set includes a rare combination of finesse, playmaking, and shooting. Most experts consider him to be the best playmaking center in the history of the NBA, and regardless of position he is one of the best passers in the modern-day game.

With 93 pass accuracy and seven Gold playmaking badges, Jokić is one of the few centers who can be the primary ball-handler on your team. He also has 90 inside and 90 outside scoring, meaning that Jokić can score from just about anywhere, whether it is from under the basket or at the three-point line.

His 93 strength and 97 stamina mean that he is also considered one of the more durable centers in the game. Overall, it is hard to go wrong with Jokić, and having him on your team could give you a huge advantage at the center position.

Rudy Gobert (OVR 88)

Overall Rating: 88
Position: C
Team: Utah Jazz
Archetype: Glass-Cleaning Lockdown
Best Stats: 98 Shot IQ, 97 Interior Defense, 95 Defensive Consistency

Considered one of the best low-post centers in the NBA today, Rudy Gobert is once again a top-three center in NBA 2K22. Out of everyone on this list, he is also the best shot-blocker in the game with a 91 block rating.

The three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year is an intimidating paint presence who blocks passing lanes and disrupts offensive rhythm with his height and wingspan. Having him on your team means that your paint protection should be among the best in the league.

Gobert is equipped with 12 defensive badges, including two on Hall of Fame level. Aside from Jokić and Joel Embiid, there isn’t another center in the game who can expect to score on Gobert consistently.

If you are starting a franchise and want to be known as a great defensive team, building your defense around Gobert is a great place to start.

Karl-Anthony Towns (OVR 87)

Overall Rating: 87
Position: C
Team: Minnesota Timberwolves
Archetype: Inside-Out Scorer
Best Stats: 98 Stamina, 98 Hands, 95 Hustle

If you want to have a dominant shooting center on your team, Karl-Anthony Towns might be your best choice in 2K22.

Towns is arguably the best choice at center for teams that want to stretch the floor and focus on shooting. With 84 outside scoring and 83 three-point shot, his shooting is on par with many elite guards in the game.

Besides being a wonderful shooter, Towns can also hold his own defensively. With an 87 defensive rebound rating and 87 strength, he has the physical ability to stay in front of most centers in the NBA.

It is best to have Towns play alongside a playmaking guard who can help create open shots for teammates. The Timberwolves’ big man has the Catch-and-Shoot badge equipped on Gold along with the Gold Lob City Finisher, meaning that he is a very hard player to stop in pick-and-roll situations.

Deandre Ayton (OVR 86)

Overall Rating: 86
Position: C
Team: Phoenix Suns
Archetype: Paint Beast
Best Stats: 97 Close Shot, 95 Shot IQ, 90 Standing Dunk

Deandre Ayton of the Phoenix Suns is one of the best up-and-coming young centers in the league right now. In only his third season, he was able to help the Phoenix Suns reach the 2020/21 NBA finals, the franchise’s first since 1993.

Like Rudy Gobert, Ayton is considered one of few traditional centers left in the league. He is best utilized as a back-to-the-basket big, with a plethora of post moves under his sleeve. However, Ayton’s shooting ability is good enough for him to be a pick-and-pop threat as well.

With a 79 mid-range shot and a 65 three-point shot, the former number one draft pick can still be a reliable shooter away from the basket. At only 23 years of age, Ayton is one of the young centers on this list, and has the potential to finish this season as a top-two center in the game.

Bam Adebayo (OVR 87)

Overall Rating: 87
Position: C
Team: Miami Heat
Archetype: Paint Defender
Best Stats: 95 Stamina, 93 Close Shot, 90 Trades

Not known as a dominant scorer in the NBA, many still consider Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat to be one of the best centers in the league today. At 6’9”, he is a little bit undersized at his position, but he possesses a unique skill set that makes him a rare player in the game.

With 92 interior defense and 92 help defense, Adebayo is an elite defender who can guard both bigs and wings. Add 90 hustle and 74 speed to the recipe, and he is one of the faster centers in the league, capable of pushing the floor to help his team get easy buckets in transition.

Overall, you can consider him as the best jack-of-all-trades type of center in NBA 2K22, as he has the ability to give you a little bit of everything and be used in different roles.

With a total of 30 badges, nine of which are Gold, he may be one of the more underrated centers in the game.

Clint Capela (OVR 86)

Overall Rating: 86
Position: C
Team: Atlanta Hawks
Archetype: Glass-Cleaning Lockdown
Best Stats: 97 Defensive Rebound, 95 Standing Dunk, 96 Rebounding

If you want to have an old-school center who isn’t afraid to do all the dirty work near the basket, Clint Capela is probably your best bet.

The Atlanta Hawks’ center is one of the best rebounders and finishers in the game, and with him on your team, you will be able to perform highlight plays near the basket on both ends of the floor.

Best used as a pick-and-roll player, Capela excels when paired with a shot creator or a scoring guard. With 96 rebounding, you rarely have to worry about securing the boards when you have him on the floor. Courtesy of a Gold Putback Boss badge, the Hawks’ star is one of those few centers in the game who can consistently get you extra possessions every game.

Finally, he is equipped with some of the best two-hand dunk animations in the game, so if you want a center who can consistently posterize opponents, you won’t be disappointed with Capela.
