Eldegoss, the Cotton Bloom Pokémon, joined the franchise in Generation VIII with Pokémon Sword and Shield. The Grass-type Pokémon evolves from Gossifleur, usually from Level 20 in traditional games. Now, in Pokémon Unite, Eldegoss’ reputation is being cemented as a useful healer.
Eldegoss is part of the Support class, with its abilities focusing on keeping its HP and the HP of its allies in the green. Eldegoss also has hindrance abilities, which can be utilised to assist the other classes of Pokémon.
On this page, you’ll find all of the details about this build, but first, here’s a quick look at how to make the best Eldegoss build in Pokémon Unite:
- Role: Healer
- First Move: Pollen Puff
- Second Move: Cotton Guard
- Battle Item: Potion
- Held Items: Buddy Barrier, Exp. Share, Shell Bell
Optimum role of Eldegoss in Pokémon Unite
To get started building your Eldegoss, press ZL in the pre-game lobby to access the Battle Prep page. From here, you can select your items and direct your level-up move selections. This can also be done via the Battle Prep section of the main menu.
Being part of the Support class, Eldegoss performs best when used in conjunction with an Attacker Pokémon. This is to enable them to inflict the most amount of damage whilst not having to worry about their HP falling too low. Sure to frustrate your opponents, Eldegoss’ kit allows it to keep teammates alive in the most unlikely of circumstances.
Unsurprisingly, Eldegoss has a four-star rating for its support parameter. As such, it’s perfect to have in your team to allow others to really push their limits in fights, should you utilise your ability to keep their health bars topped up.
The best Eldegoss build has been put together in order to maximise its abilities as a Support. Being the unsung hero for your team is not for everyone, but Eldegoss is one of the very best at being that teammate.
Optimum moveset of the Eldegoss build in Pokémon Unite
Being able to heal teammates on a five-second cooldown isn’t a small feat, and can prove invaluable whilst participating in team fights. It is also worth noting that Eldegoss inflicts hindrances onto your opponents and can be used to disengage any unfavourable matchups by using its Unite Move.
- Basic Attack: “Becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, attaching a bit of cotton fluff to opposing Pokémon. The user’s basic attacks against an opposing Pokémon with cotton fluff on it deal increased damage and decrease the opposing Pokémon’s movement speed for a short time.”
- Passive Ability, Cotton Down:“Damages an opponent and decreases its movement speed for a short time after the Pokémon with this Ability receives a certain amount of damage. When that happens, the Pokémon also recovers HP and has its movement speed increased for a short time.”
- Unite Move, Cotton Cloud Crash: “Has the user float into the air and become invincible. If used again, has the user pound the ground, attacking and shoving opposing Pokémon and restoring HP to ally Pokémon in the area of effect.”
Restoring an ally’s HP is the bread and butter of this Eldegoss build. As such, Pollen Puff is the best ability to choose at Level 4. Capable of either dealing damage to opponents or healing an ally, it is a very effective tool to keep lane opponents weak, or allies healthy.
At Level 11, Pollen Puff becomes even more useful as Pollen Puff+, causing damage over time when it hits an opponent, or enabling allies to receive less damage for a short amount of time.
Keeping with the theme of being a Support Pokémon, Cotton Guard is the obvious choice at Level 6. Giving yourself and any nearby Pokémon a cotton shield, which heals after it has expired, could be the difference between life and death for you and or your team.
At Level 13, Cotton Guard+ increases Eldegoss’ movement speed whilst using the move.
Best battle item for the Eldegoss build in Pokémon Unite
Official Description: “Restores some of your Pokémon’s HP.”
Whilst an argument could be made for any battle item for Eldegoss in Pokémon Unite, bringing a potion is the best option for you to take. Keeping Eldegoss in the fight for as long as possible is essential to utilising its role in the team. If Eldegoss doesn’t survive, there is unlikely to be another Pokémon to play as the Healer.
Remember that the Potion is on a 30-second cooldown, so it can be used during skirmishes or team fights.
Best held items for the Eldegoss build in Pokémon Unite
Official Description: “When the Pokémon uses its Unite Move, that Pokémon and the nearby ally Pokémon with the lowest HP are each granted a shield equal to 40% of their max HP.”
Synergising incredibly well with Eldegoss’ Unite Move, the Buddy Barrier is a very strong held item to take into battle. The shield that it grants on top of the heal from Eldegoss is a life-saving combination.
Official Description: “While the Pokémon has the fewest Exp. Points on its team, it gains 4 Exp. Points per second. However, it will no longer receive shared Exp. Points when its teammates defeat wild Pokémon.”
Being a Support Pokémon, it is easy for Eldegoss to fall behind on Exp. due to the fact that you will not be killing many wild Pokémon and are unlikely to be duelling one-vs-one. Exp. Share helps to take away this disadvantage, allowing you to level up while supporting your allies.
Official Description: “When the Pokémon hits with a move, it recovers a minimum of 75 HP. The higher the Pokémon’s Sp. Atk, the more HP it recovers.”
The Shell Bell will help you to keep your own health bar in the green whilst focusing on keeping your teammates healthy, making it a solid third option for your held items.
How to use the best Eldegoss build in Pokémon Unite
By following the above build, Eldegoss will become a valuable asset to any team in Pokémon Unite.
When playing as the Healer, you need to stay nearby a teammate to support them through the game. Eldegoss should be played with a double lane outlook, keeping itself and its allies healthy while, on occasion, dealing some damage and inflicting hindrances on its opponents.
For combinations on opponents, try to land some basic attacks to trigger Eldegoss’ ability. Mostly, try to keep your lane partner healed up while sitting back during fights. If things start to get hairy and you need to disengage, don’t forget that your Unite Move is a great gap opener.
When playing as Eldegoss, it’s essential to remember that you are the support for your team. If you aren’t a part of the fight, it will likely go unfavourably for your team, but equally, if you pile in at the point of contact, you likely won’t be of much use.
