Street Fighter 6 Outfit 3: Enhance Your Characters with This New Look

We’ve seen all your comments and Outfit 3 for the 18 launch characters is finally coming to Street Fighter 6! When we revealed the first four at Evo 2023 back in August, we were blown away at the reaction, especially since we put so much of our love of the series into each outfit. Our design team wanted to provide their comments on the inspiration, story, and elements of each outfit. Read on to learn more!

TL;DR

The Evolution of Character Design in Street Fighter 6

The latest outfits in Street Fighter 6 are not just about aesthetics; they are a celebration of the game’s rich heritage and cultural diversity. Each outfit is carefully crafted to reflect the unique backstories and personalities of the characters, providing players with a deeper connection to their favorite fighters. Let’s dive into the creative process behind some of the most anticipated outfits.

Kimberly’s Ninja Ensemble

At first, I struggled to find the right direction, but with the help of those around me, I was able to give form to Kimberly’s idea of what she enthusiastically thinks is “ninja-like.” I am very honored to have been in charge of designing this outfit, as she is one of my favorite characters. I love her cute round hair and round pants and I hope you try her out in-game!

Jamie’s Formal Chinese Attire

His everyday clothes are casual, but he comes out swinging when he has to. The concept of him wearing formal Chinese clothes was decided at an early stage and his politeness and upbringing from his grandmother/master is conveyed through this outfit. Arranging and decorating this outfit too much would make it feel out of place, and simplifying too much would lack in character, so it took a long time to find the right balance with the help of our Chinese staff.

JP’s Traditional Nayshall Garb

At first, I aimed for a more western style, like a black robe, but landed on this design because we thought it would be nice to have a Nayshall outfit referencing the storyline. I also wanted to see an older gentleman fight in traditional garb and felt it would be a shame not to show some skin since he is such a big-framed character.

Chun-Li’s Elegant Casual Wear

The concept of this outfit is Chun-Li’s casual wear. I thought that even her casual clothes would maintain an ease of movement and elegance, so I combined inner-wear that combines aspects of training attire with a Chinese-influenced jacket. The large slit shows her back when she moves, and the transparency provides a delicate touch when seen on the screen. Her sweatpants were designed with a basketball jersey in mind with side buttons that can be undone at the waist to make it easier for a character with thick thighs like Chun-Li to put them on. I’ve also never seen Chun-Li wear wide-legged pants before, so I decided to give this a shot.

Ryu’s Town Outfit

I was thinking of a situation of Ryu wearing normal clothes and felt he might dress a little more like a regular person when he comes down from the mountain where he trains to head to town. From there, I thought about what he does in town and imagined him going to public baths, buying ingredients for his meals, and washing his gi before returning to the mountain. We came up with the idea of Chun-Li scolding Ryu for roaming around town with his gi on, so she decides to buy him a jacket. He is also wearing a towel wrapped around his head that he wears after taking a bath, brand-new bandages, jeans that have been washed so many times that the color has faded and looks like white denim, and high-end sandals that were gifted from E. Honda.
