Super Mario Bros. Wonder features eight characters and three new power-ups!!!

Super Mario Bros. Wonder has combined classic side-scrolling gameplay with an amazing multiplayer experience in its latest installment. Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Princess Daisy are base characters with access to all power-ups but no character-specific moves. Yoshi and Nabbit are both invincible and can use badges but not power-ups. Play online or with friends with all eight characters.

1. Mario

Mario made his first appearance as a playable character in the 1981 release of Donkey Kong. He is the most popular and highest-selling video video game character of all time. Mario and his younger brother Luigi work as plumbers. He can use all power-ups and badges. 

2. Luigi

Luigi is Mario’s younger but taller brother and made his first appearance in the 1983 Game & Watch video game. He appears in most Super Mario Bros. releases including his own successful Luigi’s Mansion spin-off franchise. He can use all power-ups and badges.

3. Princess Peach

Peach is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom and the lead character of the series. She is the most famous female antagonist in video game history. She made her first appearance in the original 1985 Super Mario Bros. release and became a playable character in 1988’s Super Mario Bros. 2. She also can use all power-ups and badges.

4. Princess Daisy

Daisy made her first appearance in 1989’s Super Mario Land as the princess of Sarasaland and is rumored to be Luigi’s love interest. Over the years she has appeared in Mario Party, Mario Kart, and many other franchise spinoffs. She can use all power-ups and badges.

5. Toad

Toad first appeared in 1985’s Super Mario Bros and became a playable character in 1988’s Super Mario Bros 2. He and the rest of the mushroom kingdom assist Mario in all of his adventures and also serve as Princess Peach’s loyal servants. Super Mario Bros. Wonder gives you the option of selecting a blue or yellow Toad as a character. He can use all power-ups and badges. 

6. Toadette

Toadette made her first appearance in Mario Kart: Double Dash as a playable driver. She is a pink character with pigtails that differentiate her from Toad. Toadette has appeared in countless Mario spinoff titles as a supporting character and at times, a protagonist. She can use all power-ups and badges.

7. Nabbit

Nabbit made his first appearance in 2012’s Super Mario Bros U as an enemy before becoming playable in the deluxe version and the New Super Luigi U expansion game. He has appeared in many spin-offs. Nabbit is neither friend nor foe but he will steal from everyone. He cannot use power-ups and is invincible like Yoshi except he doesn’t flinch when hit. 

8. Yoshi

Yoshi made his debut in 1990’s Super Mario World for the SNES and has been a staple for the Mario franchise ever since. He is the most recognizable sidekick in video game history and carries his successful Yoshi’s spinoff series. Yoshi does not take damage from enemies but still flinches when hit. He is not able to use power-ups but he can use badges. He has some of his moves listed below.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder: All Power-Ups

1. Fire Power-Up

The Fire Flower power-up has been around since the original Super Mario Bros release. It is usually a progressive power-up but many titles allow you to go from small form straight to Fireform. The Fire Flower power-up is a ranged attack giving you the ability to hurl a fireball to defeat enemies. All characters can use the Fire Flower except for Yoshi and Nabbit.

2. Elephant Power-Up

Super Mario Bros Wonder features a new power-up that transforms your character into the form of an anamorphic elephant. Swing the elephant’s trunk to defeat enemies, break blocks, and carry large shells. You can also use the trunk to store and spray water. All characters can use the Elephant Fruit except for Yoshi and Nabbit.

3. Drill Power-Up

The Drill Mushroom also makes its first appearance in Super Mario Wonder. While in drill form, you can defeat enemies from below similar to when wearing a spiked shell. You can drill into the ground or ceiling with invincibility. Use the drill to explore and find secret areas or to access hard-to-reach 10-Flower coins.

4. Bubble Power-Up

The Bubble Flower is the third power-up introduced in Super Mario Bros Wonder and is becoming very popular due to its versatility. You can use it to turn enemies into coins or you can use them to grab hard-to-reach items. Jumping on bubbles acts as a spring and with the correct timing you can create an endless floating bridge with this powerup.
