Daedalic Entertainment have unleashed the first look of their upcoming Gollum game in action.

Having been announced at the start of the year, and set for release on next-gen consoles, we’ve steadily been fed more and more information about the upcoming Gollum game.

Mere days before Daedalic Entertainment are set to feature at a major digital gaming event, the German developers have unveiled their official teaser trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

First look at The Lord of the Rings: Gollum in action

Here’s the teaser trailer for the upcoming stealth-action adventure title set in Tolkien’s Middle-earth:

The Gollum teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much in terms of gameplay or story, but it does allude to the level of graphical fidelity that the development team is aiming to achieve – at least in terms of cinematics.

Featuring ominous music and fiery Mount Doom, cinematics are probably the best that followers could have hoped for at this stage, what with the pandemic and the game initially being slated for a 2021 release.

What we know so far about the Gollum game

In May, Daedalic Entertainment revealed a tremendous amount of information about the Gollum game.

As we relayed in detail, the story looks set to take place shortly before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring, with the development team hiring Middle-earth experts to ensure that Gollum’s adventure adheres to Tolkien’s lore.

The story takes you from Gandalf’s interrogation of Gollum, back to Barad-dûr through Gollum’s retelling of events, and then to an exploration of Mirkwood.

As for gameplay, there’ll be plenty of stealth elements, adventuring, and decision-making, with the inner-conflict between Sméagol and Gollum being a core mechanic of the game.

The new Gollum game trailer didn’t disclose an update on the release date, but perhaps more details about the new Lord of the Rings title will be revealed at Gamescom 2020.
