Another year brings another annual installment of Sony San Diego’s longtime baseball sim series, and the MLB The Show 23 release date has now officially been confirmed. As part of their cover athlete reveal stream, it was confirmed that the MLB The Show 23 release date is set for Tuesday, March 28, 2023

They also announced that pre-orders for the game will go live on Monday, February 6, 2023, allowing an extra week to get things in line with retailers following the cover athlete reveal. One of the pre-order rewards expected is early access as they’ll likely once again provide four days of early access to players who pre-order a deluxe edition of MLB The Show 23.

If that rings true, it would make the MLB The Show 23 early access release date as early as Friday, March 24, 2023. Sony San Diego has also done a Midnight ET simultaneous worldwide launch in recent years, so if this rings true it would make the launch time Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 11pm CT, and so on for other time zones.

Additional details, such as the return of crossplay, have also been confirmed on The Show’s website, including that the Collector’s Edition(s) of MLB The Show 23 will be revealed on Thursday, February 2, 2023. More should be known once pre-orders go live, but Sony San Diego did also confirm that MLB The Show 23 is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Notably absent was a Steam logo or cover as it appears fans hoping for a PC release of the title will be sorely disappointed once again.

While other aspects of the upcoming release were learned in the process, the true focus of the latest reveal by Sony San Diego was MLB The Show 23 cover athlete Jazz Chisholm Jr. (an accurate prediction from a few days ago). In a new trailer which can be seen below, they highlighted his early life playing sandlot games in The Bahamas all the way to his arrival in the MLB.

Many fans have already clued into the fact that this trailer, and posts with it, have talked about following and experiencing Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s full journey to the league. As of now, Road to the Show offers a less player-specific story, but there could be a special game mode or path that highlights this in a way where players are involved.

Further details about Franchise Mode, Diamond Dynasty, March to October, and other game modes will be revealed in the coming weeks as Sony San Diego did confirm the return of Feature Premieres. A full schedule was not announced, but they will likely follow a weekly release pattern with a new aspect of MLB The Show 23 unveiled each time. All of the Feature Premiere episodes will stream on Sony San Diego’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

Chisholm Jr. follows in the footsteps of cover athletes Shohei Ohtani, Fernando Tatis Jr., Javier Báez, Bryce Harper, and Aaron Judge, the five previous MLB The Show cover athletes.
