Pokémon Sword and Shield: How to Evolve Steenee into No.54 Tsareena

PokémonSword and Shield may not have the entire National Dex at its disposal, butthere are still 72 Pokémon that don’t simply evolve at a certain level. On topof those, even more are on the way in the upcoming expansions.

With PokémonSword and Pokémon Shield, a few evolution methods have been altered fromprevious games, and, of course, there are some new Pokémon to evolve throughincreasingly peculiar and specific ways.

Here, you’ll find out where to find Bounsweet and Steenee as well as how to evolve Steenee into Tsareena.

    What level does Steenee evolve?

Steenee will evolve into Tsareena once you learn the Stomp ability at level 28.

Where to find Bounsweet in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Pokémon Sword and Shield find Bounsweet

Bounsweetwas introduced to the Pokémon universe in Generation VII (Pokémon Sun and Moon)and still only needs to hit level 18 to evolve into Steenee.

To set outon getting a Tsareena, you can start by catching Bounsweet. The grass-typePokémon can be found in the following areas:

    • DappledGrove: Normal Conditions, Sandstorms (Random Encounters)
    • EastLake Axewell: Normal Conditions (Overworld)
    • RollingFields: Normal Conditions, Sandstorm (Random Encounters)
    • StonyWilderness: Raining, Overcast, Normal Conditions, Intense Sun, Thunderstorms,Snowing, Snowstorms, Sandstorms, Heavy Fog (Overworld)
    • WatchtowerRuins: Normal Conditions, Overcast (Random Encounters)
    • WestLake Axewell: Normal Conditions (Random Encounters)

You can skipcatching a Bounsweet and start with Steenee if you want, with the second-stageof this evolution track being found in the Wild Area.

The FruitPokémon can be found in random encounters during normal conditions at Axew’sEye in the Wild Area.

How to catch Bounsweet in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Pokémon Sword and Shield catch Bounsweet

Bounsweetappears in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield between level 7 and level 30 in theWild Area, being quite easy to find in the Stony Wilderness.

In the StonyWilderness, however, you’ll encounter the highest-level wild Bounsweets, ranging from level 28 to level 30.

However, even at its peak level, you shan’t need a particularly high-tier Poké Ball tocatch Bounsweet, with an Ultra Ball or Quick Ball potentially sealing the catchif thrown right at the beginning of the encounter.

A wildSteenee, on the other hand, is found between level 35 and level 40 at Axew’sEye in the Wild Area, so it may require some weakening before you can catch thePokémon.

BothBounsweet and Steenee are grass-type Pokémon, so if you want to avoid defeatingthem in a wild encounter, don’t use fire, poison, ice, flying, or bug-typeattacks.

Bounsweetand Steenee are strong against water, electric, grass, and ground-type moves,so if you want to reduce their HP bars gradually, use a similarly-levelledPokémon with moves of these types.

Ultra Ballswill invariably do the trick, but you’ll likely find that a Poké Ball or GreatBall will suffice against a weakened Bounsweet or Steenee.

How to evolve Steenee into Tsareena in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Pokémon Sword and Shield evolve Steenee into Tsareena

To evolve Steeneeinto Tsareena in Pokémon Sword and Shield, you’ll need your Steenee to eitherlearn the move Stomp or remember the move.

Steeneelearns Stomp at level 28 when it levels up. However, you can make your Pokémon rememberthe move by going to a Move Relearner if it has passed level 28 and doesn’tpresently know Stomp.

Found in anyPokémon Centre, the Move Relearner is found to the left of the store; all youneed to do is ask them to ‘Remember a move.’

You’ll thenneed to select the Steenee that you want to remember the move. Once you have, scroll down through the selection of moves available and pick Stomp.

Pokémon Sword and Shield pick Stomp

As yourSteenee now knows Stomp, all you have to do is level it up again for it toevolve into Tsareena. So, you can either go into the Wild Area or down any routeto battle and earn xp, or use an xp-giving item.

Pokémon Sword and Shield Steenee knows Stomp

If you wantto use items to level up your Steenee quickly, you can use Exp. Candy. To doso, you’ll need to check the summary of the Steenee to see how much xp it needsto level up and evolve into Tsareena.

Here’s whichExp. Candy you may want to use:

    • SExp. Candy gives 800 xp
    • MExp. Candy gives 3000 xp
    • LExp. Candy gives 10,000 xp
    • XLExp. Candy gives 30,000 xp

You couldalways use one Rare Candy, but they are better off being saved for high-levelPokémon that you want to level-up.

Once your Steenee has learned Stomp and levelled up, It will evolve into Tsareena as soon as you exit the xp calculations which see the Pokémon level-up.

It is alsopossible to encounter Tsareena in the wild. During normal conditions, intensesun, snowing, snowstorms, overcast weather, heavy fog, or sandstorms, you canfind Tsareena wandering around the Stony Wilderness region of the Wild Area.

How to use Tsareena (strengths and weaknesses)

Tsareenaboasts some strong base stat lines, including high defence, high specialdefence, and very high attack. As such, the Pokémon is very effective whenusing physical moves like Stomp and High Jump Kick.

The FruitPokémon’s decent defence and special defence stats are balanced by Tsareena’s mediocrebase HP, and special attacks are less potent due to Tsareena’s low specialattack base stat line.

As agrass-type Pokémon, Tsareena is weak against ice, fire, flying, poison, and bug-typemoves. However, water, ground, grass, and electric-type moves aren’t veryeffective against Tsareena.

The Pokémonspecies boasts three potential abilities: Leaf Guard, Queenly Majesty, andSweet Veil.

Having theLeaf Guard ability means that the Tsareena won’t be afflicted by statusconditions while battling in strong sunlight weather conditions. QueenlyMajesty stops opposing Pokémon from using moves on itself or its allies withincreased speed priority.

Tsareena’shidden ability is Sweet Veil, which prevents the Pokémon and its allies fromgoing to sleep.

There youhave it: your Steenee just evolved into a Tsareena. You now have a grass-typePokémon that boasts very high attack and is robust across both forms of defence.
