    Mortal Kombat 1 Pro Kompetition: Season 2 Kicks Off with $255,000 Prize Pool and New Guest Fighters

    Mortal Kombat fans can gear up for another year of high-stakes battles and jaw-dropping fatalities. Warner Bros. Games, NetherRealm Studios, and RTS have officially unveiled the Mortal Kombat 1 Pro Kompetition: Season 2. This global esports program promises a $255,000 USD prize pool and features a lineup of both online and in-person events across multiple continents. The announcement also teases the addition of two guest fighters—Conan the Barbarian and the T-1000 Terminator.


    Season 2 Competition Locations

    Scheduled to launch on February 22, 2025, with the Pro Kompetition Mexico event in Mexico City, the season spans multiple high-profile tournaments. The journey will culminate in the Final Kombat World Championship in September 2025, where the world’s top kombatants will face off for ultimate glory. Players can participate in a series of ten live events across North America, Latin America, South America, and Europe, as well as compete in online qualifiers divided by geographic regions.

    • Viennality – Vienna, Austria (March 1-2)
    • Texas Showdown – Houston, Texas (March 28-30)
    • gamescom latam – São Paulo, Brazil (May 1-4)
    • Combo Breaker – Chicago, Ill. (May 23-25)
    • CEO Fighting Game Championships – Orlando, Fla. (June 13-15)
    • Brussels Challenge – Brussels, Belgium (Spring/Summer 2025)
    • Evo 2025 – Las Vegas, Nev. (Aug. 1-3)
    • Blink Respawn – Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (Summer 2025)
    • VSFighting – Birmingham, U.K. (Summer/Autumn 2025)

    Participants in these tournaments will battle for leaderboard points, with the top eight ranking players securing a spot in Final Kombat. Additionally, online qualifiers offer regional players the chance to earn their place in the championship without accruing leaderboard points. A wildcard entry will also be awarded through the Last Chance Qualifier event, held just before the finals.


    Guest Fighters: Conan and the T-1000 Enter the Arena

    The announcement trailer for Season 2 stole the show by unveiling Conan the Barbarian and the T-1000 Terminator as upcoming playable characters, part of Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns.

    • Conan the Barbarian: Based on the 1982 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Conan wields his iconic sword and brutal combat style. Early access begins on January 21 for owners of the Khaos Reigns expansion, with general availability following on January 28. Conan will be tournament-legal for Season 2, making him a potential game-changer in competitive matches.
    • T-1000 Terminator: Specific details about this fighter are under wraps, but the trailer promises a sleek and deadly addition to the roster.
