Review: E-WIN Racing Flash Series Gaming Chair

While many still think of gaming chairs as only for those who play professionally, that’s not necessarily the case. With the increase in availability in gaming chairs, prices – while still a bit high – aren’t as daunting as in the past. If you’re thinking about purchasing a gaming chair, maybe you should look into the E-WIN Racing Flash Series gaming chair.

E-WIN Racing has a plethora of gaming chairs available. Don’t worry if you’re of larger frame as E-WIN Racing has an XL option for the E-WIN Racing Flash XL Series, including those on sale

This review is on the E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair. E-WIN Racing was kind enough to provide one of these chairs for review (in red), and this review is based on extensive time using the chair for both gaming and office work. There are also images of the blue and white versions of the E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair.

E-WIN Racing Flash Series specs and features

E-WIN Racing Flash Series Gaming Chair Specs
    Source: ewinracing.com

The E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair, even the non-XL version, is a fairly sizable gaming chair. Its height – from the bottom of the actual seat to the top – is 37 inches (or 94 centimeters). From the floor to the bottom of the seat, it’s 17-21 inches (or 42-54 cm) depending on the height adjustment you make. That makes it 54-58 inches in height (137.16-147.32 cm) from floor to top of the chair.

For width, the E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair is 21.7 inches (or 55 cm) from armrest to armrest. Each armrest on the E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair is 4.3 inches in width (11 cm) and 11 inches in length (28 cm). The seat width is slightly smaller, 15.4 inches (39 cm) while the cushion has a height of 3.9 inches (10 cm). The width of the top of the chair, where it wings out a little bit, is 22 inches (56 cm)

Needless to say, you will need a good amount of space to place the chair. Personally, as I use it in the living room while gaming on the PS5, I had to move aside our coffee table a little bit to create enough room. My partner, when she used it for work, had to clear out an entire section around her desk (albeit the office is more cluttered than our living room).

Measurements aside, the E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair comes with some features that may pique your interest. First, the E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair can recline up to 155 degrees and incline to 85 degrees for those of you who keep an eye on your posture.

The armrests are not static, either, as you can adjust the height of each one as well as rotate them in different directions to suit your gaming or office needs. If you like placing your elbows on them yet want more surface are, try rotating them in a diagonal position for your elbows to rest.

To the bottom of the chair, there are multiple features for you to adjust. There is a swivel (tilt) mechanism where you can either tighten it, loosen it, or lock it altogether depending on your needs at the moment. A more relaxed session could call for a loosening while an intense session may call for it being locked. You can also adjust the height with the lever to the side of the tilt knob.

The wheels were easy to install and glide fairly effortlessly. As a household with a dog with long fur (a Leonberger and Golden Retriever mix), we’ve had multiple wheels on other products not just stop rolling, but break off completely because of the fur entangling them. Thus far, the fur doesn’t seem to catch in the tires. However, it can be a little difficult to roll the chair over rugs and carpets with our rug bunching up as the chair rolls on top.

I haven’t yet touched on weight, but that is to come in the next section when discussing delivery and assembly.

E-WIN Racing Flash Series delivery and assembly

E-WIN Racing Flash Series Gaming Chair Box
The E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair arrived in a clearly marked and secured box.

E-WIN Racing reached out to Outsider Gaming about a product review. Once a decision on the chair had been made, I let E-WIN Racing know of my preference. Initially, the product I requested (a Champion Series chair) was low in stock, so we agreed to have the Flash Series sent to me in red. I also requested a tracking number and E-WIN Racing supplied one promptly through FedEx. I only had to request one because I did not place the order.

A label was created on June 13 in Dublin, Ohio (their site says chairs ship from Ohio and California). The chair arrived, as indicated, on Tuesday, June 20, a week later. I do suspect it would have arrived sooner if I still lived on the continent. I live in Hawai’i, which usually sees an extra day or two tacked on for deliveries.

A note of caution: We’ve had multiple instances of FedEx drivers not reading the delivery instructions we left for them and placing our deliveries at another door, including this one. It was frustrating because had I not been home when it was delivered, it could have been stolen simply because they refused to read the delivery instructions provided. I even complained to the driver that he didn’t follow delivery instructions; he didn’t respond and just left instead (great service, FedEx!). As such, do your best to have someone home on the date of delivery just in case it’s sent through FedEx and the driver decides your instructions aren’t important.

E-WIN Racing Flash Series Gaming Chair Weight
The gross and net weights listed on the outside of the box.

The box was a sizable rectangle that was a bit awkward to get through our door (we have a narrow walkway). The gross weight listed on the box (pictured) was 32.70 kg (just over 72 pounds). The net weight was 28.70 kg (just over 62 pounds). The weight wasn’t much of an issue in terms of moving the box, but the size of the box and our narrow entry was what made bringing the box inside a tad difficult. Still, depending on your frame and strength, you may need assistance with the box.

E-WIN Racing Flash Series Gaming Chair All Parts
Everything in the box was securely covered with plastic except the armrests, though the sleeves may have fallen off during delivery.

Inside the box was everything needed to assemble the E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair. This included the upright seat, the cushion, lumbar and neck pillows, the base, wheels, hydraulic pump, height lever, and the needed tools to for the chair. A side note is that the red really pops and blends well with the black.

E-WIN Racing Flash Series Gaming Chair Instructions
Make sure to follow the red arrows, snake draft style, so you don’t get confused like me!

The instructions included were confusing at first. The pictured chair in the instructions wasn’t the same model as the Flash Series – and the instructions do say the picture may be different from your model – but more confusing was that the instructions were in snake draft style (follow the red arrows!). With my mind trained to go left to right, it took me several times to finally grasp the snake style instructions that go left to right and then down, then right to left and repeat.

While the confusions were frustrating at first, once I wrapped my head around both the different model pictured (the parts look slightly different depending on the chair you purchase) and the snake style instructions, things proceeded rather smoothly. However, this is only because my wonderful partner helped me put the chair together. The chair seems nearly impossible to assemble on your own, but the more intrepid of you may have success solo. I would still recommend having a second (even third) person assist you with assembly

Overall, assembly – from opening the box to completing the chair – took around an hour. Admittedly, about ten to 15 minutes were probably added due to my confusion with the instructions.

How to purchase an E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair or another E-WIN chair

E-WIN Racing Flash Series Chair White
The white version of the E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair.

It’s easy to purchase an E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair. Simply head to this link for the Flash Series specifically, and this link for E-Win Racing’s overall inventory of gaming chairs. They also have gaming desks if you’re needing one of those too. If you’d rather use Amazon, the chairs are available there too.

Aside from the E-WIN Racing Flash Series chairs, there are also Calling Series, Champion Series, CLC Series, Hero Series, and Knight Series chairs. Unfortunately for those of you who need an XL Chair, the Flash Series is the only one that has the XL size at this moment (recommended for those 5’7″ to 7’0″ or 1.7m to 2.13m).

The good news is that E-WIN Racing runs sales often enough that you should be able to grab a high quality gaming chair for a hundred to a couple hundred less than you may have imagined, and even from the listed price on their site. If you want to wait for a sale, check for holidays like the upcoming Labor Day holiday in early September.

All packages shipped within the continental United States receive free shipping. Their FAQ states that shipping costs to the European Union are also free.

E-WIN Racing customer support and return policy

E-WIN Racing Flash Series Chair Warranty

Most of the parts on an E-WIN Racing gaming chair have a two-year warranty period. The only part of these chairs that have a longer warranty is the metal frame of the chair, which has a ten-year warranty

The return policy can be found here. Basically, you have 14 days to return the chair and must contact them within 15 days. The return must happen without “any undue delays.” If you just decided you don’t want the chair and there are no faulty aspects, you will have to pay for shipping and they recommend using a courier service.

If the chair is faulty, they request that you use their contact form to inform them of the issues (and for inquiries in general). You will need to attach the invoice of your purchase and explain what’s wrong with the chair. Once the chair is sent back, they will inspect it and inform you of their decision. An approved refund will be automatically credited back to the credit card you used. If they find partial damage upon inspection, you may only receive a partial refund.

E-WIN Racing Flash Series review and comments

E-WIN Racing Flash Series Gaming Chair Assembled

Before I get into the review proper below, I would be remiss if I didn’t state that this is my first ever gaming chair. As such, my comments and rating may be a bit skewed as I don’t have another gaming chair as a comparison point. It does beat what I had been doing for the most part: sitting on the ground with some cushions.

I spent a few days using the E-WIN Racing Flash Series chair intensively. I spent six to eight hours continuously using the chair (with only minor bathroom breaks) each day. My partner also used the chair a few times for work to test if she liked the chair, but her slighter frame makes her feel like she’s being swallowed by the chair (she still does use it at times).

At first, it didn’t seem like there was much cushion on the seat. However, I didn’t find myself turning sore or rigid while using the chair. It has a good balance of support and cushion for your needs. Even after sitting for a full work day, I didn’t find my rear to be numb, sore, or anything of the sort.

The armrests are wonderful, particularly how you can move them and adjust their heights. Angling the armrests inward so that the back of them splayed outward was the most comfortable position for my arms while gaming. I also lowered them fully.

The swivel (tilt) function is also fantastic, giving you as much or as little control of the function as you want. If you’re someone who likes rocking in their chair, set it loose; if you’re the opposite, tighten it or lock it completely. I preferred a small bit of tilt so that I didn’t become too rigid myself.

The recline is also noteworthy, going as far bas as 155 degrees and as upright as 85 degrees. If I’m casually playing a game (like an RPG), I prefer to recline a bit, around 100-110 degrees. When I’m playing a more intense game (like sports games including the recently released AEW Fight Forever), I put it at about 90 degrees. Honestly, the chair’s probably comfortable enough that you could fully recline, take a short nap, and be no worse for wear.

I was looking forward to using the neck and lumbar pillows. However, after using them, I found that I preferred sitting in the chair using neither, letting myself fully sink into the back of the chair. I found this to give me the best support that I sought, and even had enough room to sit cross-legged on the chair comfortably. My partner found the lumbar pillow too bulky and the neck one uncomfortable (again, she has a slighter frame than me), but she did improvise and use the neck pillow as her lumbar support. Each E-WIN Racing gaming chair comes with these two pillows so you can figure out your preferred configuration.

One issue that doesn’t actually involve using the chair is the space it takes up. Living in Hawai’i, home space is at a premium and we had to consolidate some areas to make room to store the chair when not in use. If you live in a densely populated city in an apartment or condo complex, or in a smaller domicile, you may find it difficult to store the chair. Use the specs from the earlier section to guide you.
