Konami has posted record-breaking financial results for the nine months ending December 31, 2024, with revenues soaring to ¥310.8 billion ($2.1 billion), a 22.8% increase from the previous year. More importantly, operating profit surged 45.5%. This strong performance underscores how Konami’s has undergone a revival in the gaming sector, fueled by the success of its Silent Hill franchise and other key titles.

The Silent Hill Effect
At the center of Konami’s growth is Silent Hill 2 Remake, a revival of the classic psychological horror game. The title quickly surpassed one million copies sold worldwide and crossed the two-million mark by January 2025. Its success demonstrates the lasting appeal of the Silent Hill brand, with cutting-edge technology enhancing visuals and sound to deliver an immersive horror experience.
Beyond Silent Hill 2, Konami’s continued investment in the franchise, including new titles in development, indicates that the company is betting heavily on the series’ future. The “Silent Hill Transmission” broadcasts have become a reliable way for Konami to engage fans and build anticipation for upcoming games, solidifying the franchise as a cornerstone of the company’s portfolio.

Expanding Beyond Horror
While Silent Hill has been a key driver, Konami’s financial success extends beyond the horror genre. Its Professional Baseball Spirits series, featuring Shohei Ohtani as an ambassador, has capitalized on Japan’s love for baseball. Additionally, eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit, a mobile game featuring realistic MLB graphics, has expanded Konami’s reach into the North American sports gaming market.
Meanwhile, the free-to-play eFootball game continues to perform well, now surpassing 800 million downloads across console, PC, and mobile platforms. The game’s esports initiatives, including the eFootball Championship 2025, ensure its longevity in the competitive soccer simulation space.
Other Growth Segments
Konami’s digital entertainment business, which includes console and mobile gaming, remains its strongest segment, generating ¥228.9 billion ($1.56 billion) in revenue, a 32% increase year-over-year. However, other divisions also contributed to the company’s financial success:
- Amusement Division: Arcade and prize games, including Monster Retsuden Oreca Battle 2 and Minecraft Dungeons Arcade, continued to perform steadily.
- Gaming & Systems: Slot machine sales remained strong in North America and Australia, with new models like the DIMENSION series contributing to revenue growth.
- Sports Division: While facing challenges from rising energy costs, Konami’s sports club operations and fitness initiatives, such as the expansion of Pilates Mirror, maintained steady revenue.
Looking Ahead
Konami has revised its fiscal year-end forecast upward, now expecting ¥412 billion ($2.8 billion) in revenue and ¥70 billion ($480 million) in profit attributable to shareholders. The company’s focus on legacy franchises, including the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater and additional Silent Hill projects, suggests that its strategy of revitalizing classic IPs is paying off.
With Silent Hill serving as a major revenue driver, alongside a strong presence in sports and mobile gaming, Konami appears well-positioned to sustain its financial momentum into 2025 and beyond.
