Are you somewhat new to playing the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game? If you just got your hands on a copy of MW2, you are probably wondering which weapons are going to be the most effective at defeating your opponents.
Luckily for you (but maybe not so much for your enemies), there are a slew of assault rifles, marksman rifles, and SMGs available. And, while choosing the right weapon is important, so is knowing how to build and customize one. The Modern Warfare 2 Gunsmith will come in handy since it organizes guns into their own little family trees as well as into a weapons’ vault that aids in customization.
After running the gun gamut in MW2, here are my top four picks for effective weapons.

MP5 Lachmann Sub
Modern Warfare 2 is an intense game, and you’re going to need an intense weapon if you want to win. As far as first-person shooter games go, I’d wager that the MP5 Lachmann Sub is one of the best. Its lightweight design makes it easy to carry, and all it needs are a few attachments to make it super deadly.
As far as loadout attachments, I recommend getting the XTEN Razor Comp muzzle, L38 Falcon 226mm Barrel, and VX Pineapple Vert Grip. While you don’t need a stock, you will want to think about getting the Cronen Mini Red Dot optic.
FSS Hurricane
If you want to go the SMG route, the FSS Hurricane is a lot of fun. But it gives off a ton of recoil. That’s why you might want to outfit it with the XTEN Razor Comp, Forge-TAC Ripper 56, and Sakin ZX Grip. You still get plenty of mobility, and with the Overkill perk added, your loadout will let you fight well from any range.

Lachmann-762
This battle rifle only has ten bullets per magazine, so it isn’t for everyone. But with its semiautomatic firing mode, it is easy to pick enemies off from a safe distance. The Polarfire Suppressor is a must-have attachment for the Lachmann-762 though.
TAQ-56
Finally, we have the TAQ-56 – an assault rifle that combines accuracy and power. Since it has a slow fire rate, you have quite a bit of control over the weapon. Enhance the gun’s recoil with both the VLK Koloss Flash Hider and the Edge-47 Grip and drop a Schlager PEQ Box IV laser onto it for better accuracy. With that and the Demo Cleanshot Grip equipped, the gun should feel less burdensome as you wind your way into battle.
