    What is Favela?

Modern Warfare 2 Favela is a medium-sized multiplayer map in Modern Warfare 2, which features in the missions “The Hornet’s Nest” and “Takedown,” and is set in the back alleys of Brazil’s capital, Rio de Janeiro

It offers intensive, fast-paced gameplay featuring close-quarter combat scenarios in the alleys as well as some immersive sniping experience from the tall buildings that dot this map. The map is mostly built vertically with plenty of space on the rooftops and the two-storied buildings. It also features a soccer field. which is mostly the prime hot spot of action in the game.

    Controversy, removal, and come back

First featured in the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which was released in 2009, it was put down by Activision after a video titled “Message to Infinity Ward From Muslims – رساله ل الشركه” was uploaded on October 2, 2012 on YouTube.

The video highlighted that there is a bathroom on the map in which two painting frames hang with a quote attributed to the Prophet Muhammad, reading, “Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty. This led to growing discontent and complaints from followers of the Islamic faith who found it offensive that holy teachings were displayed in the washroom.

Following this, Activision pulled the map and subsequently released the version with edited frames for both PS3 and Xbox 360. The map is also made available in Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Mobile, and the latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

    Tips and tricks

The increased number of alleys and multi-access rooftops in the Favela map means players are more likely to run into each other, and the Commando Perk or a Tactical Knife perk can indeed prove to be pretty useful in such close combat situations.

Players may also use the Commando Pro’s damage fall resistance perk to evade or ambush an enemy, especially on the rooftops, as falling too far from the buildings can cause severe injuries. The winning trick would undoubtedly be to be able to effectively control the high ground, but be careful of the possible ambushes and enemy snipers.

The map also features a Field Order reward called the Y-8 Gunship, which enables the player to control the gunship’s weapons and rain down a volley of bullets on the enemy using a 105mm cannon, 40mm auto-cannon, and a 25mm cannon.

Overall, the Modern Warfare 2 Favela map is indeed an interesting map in the game that allows the player to engage in some immersive combat action in the shanty back alleys of Rio de Janeiro.
