Starting a Career Mode as a lower-tier team with the aim of climbing the divisions can be very fun, but the lack of transfer funds always presents a challenge.
As is often the case, you’ve got to spend money to make money, but to make the most of your limited budget, the best thing that you can do is sign the best cheap players with high potential.
If you give them plenty of minutes on the pitch, you’ll quickly see the relatively low-rated players climb towards their hefty potential ratings. Not only does this give you some great players to use, but it also makes them much more valuable in the transfer market.
Here, it’s all about the best cheap CAMs with high potential to sign in Career Mode of FIFA 21.
Choosing FIFA 21 Career Mode’s Best Cheap Attacking Midfielders (CAM)
The first factor considered when building the rankings of the best cheap CAMs with high potential in FIFA 21 was the release clause of each player. To be classed as ‘cheap,’ the player had to be available to buy for less than £1 million at the start of Career Mode, which means that free agents and on-loan players aren’t included.
Furthermore, each player’s potential rating had to meet or exceed 77 POT, so that you can pay small fees for the attacking midfielders who will become the most valuable.
Finally, only players with their preferred position set as CAM in FIFA 21 have been included on this list of the best cheap attacking midfielders. That said, several of them can play in multiple roles.

Lilian Egloff (59 OVR – 81 POT)

Team: VfB Stuttgart
Age: 17
Best Position: LW, LAM, CAM, RAM, RM
Overall/Potential: 59 OVR / 81 POT
Value (Release Clause): £625,000 (£882,000)
Wage: £450 per week
Best Attributes: 73 Agility, 71 Balance, 70 Acceleration
Lilian Egloff has been in the VfB Stuttgart system throughout his young career, working his way from the youth team up to the under-19s before even turning 18-years-old.
Towards the end of last season, the first-team called up the attacking midfielder to feature in their promotion-winning campaign, which saw Egloff get an assist in a 5-1 triumph over SV Sandhausen.
With a potential rating of 81 and a release clause of £882,000, Egloff comes into FIFA 21 as the best cheap CAM with high potential to sign in Career Mode.
The German is quite versatile and can play across the attacking positions, but his 62 short passing, 61 dribbling, 62 ball control, 61 vision, and 61 finishing have him best-suited to the CAM position.
Fabio Carvalho (57 OVR – 80 POT)

Team: Fulham
Age: 17
Best Position: LAM, CAM, RAM
Overall/Potential: 57 OVR / 80 POT
Value (Release Clause): £450,000 (£600,000)
Wage: £1,500 per week
Best Attributes: 85 Balance, 71 Agility, 67 Acceleration
Born in Lisbon and capped for England through the under-15s to the under-18s youth teams, Fabio Carvalho has been noticed by the Fulham manager, Scott Parker.
The English midfielder has put up some strong numbers in the under-18s and under-23s for Fulham – despite only now being 18-years-old – which earned Carvalho his first-team debut earlier this season.
Starting FIFA 21 as a 17-year-old, with his birthday at the end of August, the Fulham CAM only costs £600,000, allowing him to stand as one of the best cheap attacking midfielders in the game.
Carvalho’s best traits include his four-star weak foot, 61 dribbling, 63 short passing, 61 dribbling, 67 acceleration, 85 balance, 63 sprint speed, and 60 ball control.
Ömer Faruk Beyaz (57 OVR – 80 POT)

Team: Fenerbahçe SK
Age: 16
Best Position: LAM, LCM, CAM, CM, RAM, RCM
Overall/Potential: 57 OVR / 80 POT
Value (Release Clause): £450,000 (£600,000)
Wage: £1,000 per week
Best Attributes: 76 Balance, 67 Long Passing, 66 Short Passing
Still only 16-years-old, it’s incredible to think that Ömer Faruk Beyaz already has 11 caps and four goals for Turkey’s under-15s, seven goals in 14 games for the under-16s, four goals in ten games for the under-17s, and now he’s being deployed by the under-21s.
Seemingly a Turkish star in the making, the rising attacking midfielder has also broken into one of the top clubs of his nation, Fenerbahçe SK, playing four first-team games at the end of last season.
If you’re after a pure playmaker in your CAM position, Beyaz is already a fine choice. His highest attribute ratings are 76 balance, 67 long passing, 66 short passing, 65 ball control, and 64 vision, which will only improve as each season progresses.
Beyaz is a highly-rated talent in the Süper Lig, and the Istanbul-native also commands the attention of managers on a budget in FIFA 21. In Career Mode, he’s one of the best cheap CAMs with high potential thanks to his £600,000 release clause and 80 POT.
Evelio Cardozo (60 OVR – 80 POT)

Team: Racing Club
Age: 19
Best Position: LM, LAM, CAM, RAM, RM
Overall/Potential: 60 OVR / 80 POT
Value (Release Clause): £625,000 (£972,000)
Wage: £1,500 per week
Best Attributes: 87 Balance, 69 Agility, 67 Acceleration
Born in Buenos Aires, diminutive winger Evelio Cardozo has been working his way up to the Racing Club first-team for many years, and now, he looks to be on the cusp of his Superliga debut.
Last season, the teenage Argentine was brought up to the first-team squad, remaining on the bench in a few league and cup matches.
In FIFA 21’s Career Mode, Cardozo boasts one of the higher overall ratings of the best cheap attacking midfielders with high potential, coming in with 60 OVR and 80 POT.
The 19-year-old can play at CM or CAM comfortably. His well-rounded attribute ratings, which include 69 agility, 65 jumping, 65 composure, and 66 short passing allow him to be of use across the midfield.
Daniel Maldini (59 OVR – 79 POT)

Team: AC Milan
Age: 18
Best Position: LM, LAM, CAM, RAM, RM
Overall/Potential: 59 OVR / 79 POT
Value (Release Clause): £550,000 (£790,000)
Wage: £1,700 per week
Best Attributes: 69 Sprint Speed, 67 Acceleration, 66 Short Passing
The next generation of Maldinis is emerging at AC Milan. Following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Paolo Maldini, and his grandfather, Cesare – who also once captained the club – Daniel Maldini made his first-team debut in February this year.
This season, Maldini is very much a part of the first-team, being on the bench for the first two Serie A games of the campaign before being brought on against Spezia Calcio. The young Italian also played a role in the club’s Europa League Qualifying matches.
While name recognition is a major selling point for the young CAM, it’s his £790,000 release clause and 79 POT that make him one of the best cheap attacking midfielders to sign in Career Mode.
Despite his 59 OVR from the start, the 18-year-old’s four-star weak foot, three-star skill moves, 66 short passing, 62 ball control, 65 agility, 66 balance, 69 sprint speed, and 67 acceleration make Maldini a useful player already.
