FIFA 23 offers a fresh edition of endless possibilities in the Career Mode feature, which allows you to take charge of a club and change their fortunes.
Everton is a club which certainly needs a refresh, and you can select the Premier League side who have not lifted silverware since the famous 1995 FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs, which is awfully long for such an historic club.
Everton Ratings
As a team, Everton has a four-and-a-half star rating in FIFA 23 with a breakdown of the following ratings: 80 ATT, 77 MID, and 77 DEF.
At the start of Career Mode in FIFA 23, the Toffees set up in a default 4-5-1 formation, which can be easily switched to the 4-3-3 holding variation in order to retain defensive stability and an attacking threat.
In Everton’s strongest lineup, target man Dominic Calvert-Lewin is supported by Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray in attack.
Idrissa Gana Gueye is the midfield anchorman, with Alex Iwobi and the promising Amadou Onana just ahead of the Senegalese in the double “eight” positions to provide forward thrust.
Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson are the pair of full-backs, with Ben Godfrey forming a central defensive partnership with Mason Holgate. That back four is protected by England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford between the sticks.
Tactics and Instructions
Given the scale of the project at hand, getting the best out of the Everton players is paramount. Thus, it is important to be aware of the various tactical details and instructions to give to them in FIFA 23 Career Mode.
Calvert-Lewin is a fantastic asset upfront whose goal threat must be harnessed, so the striker should be instructed to Stay Forward, Get In Behind, and Stay Central to give him the best opportunities to score a goal.
Alongside him, the pacy Demarai Gray should be set to Get In Behind while Anthony Gordon is more effective when instructed to Cut Inside.
In terms of the midfield, Gueye should Cover Centre and Stay Back While Attacking in order to attain balance and prevent counterattacking opportunities.
Mykolenko should be allowed to Overlap as the left-back is more attack-minded whilst Patterson is set on Stay Back While Attacking.
Within the Merseysiders’ squad, there is undoubted talent for the present and the future as the defensive trio of Godfrey (85 POT), Mykolenko (83 POT) and Patterson (82 POT) can develop into top-class players with just a few more years of training and experience.
Elsewhere, Onana (84 POT) also has a bright future in the game and the Belgian’s versatility in midfield is a real asset. The likes of James Garner (82 POT), Dwight McNeil (81 POT) and Ruben Vinagre (81 POT) have plenty of scope for improvement, so FIFA 23 players will have an exciting Everton squad to work with at the start of Career Mode.
Up top, 21-year-old winger Gordon (84 POT) and 25-year-old striker Calvert-Lewin (84 POT) can grow into one of the most fearsome attacking duos around and it is important to build your Everton team around the best talents.
