KYORA, a 2D sandbox crafting adventure from publisher Chucklefish and developer Pugstorm, has been announced. A one-minute teaser trailer was unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, offering players a tantalizing glimpse into this mystical multiplayer adventure where “every pixel can be shaped, mined, built, or destroyed.”
KYORA is slated to launch in early access on Steam on an unannounced date, with support for up to eight players in online co-op mode.
So, What is KYORA?
From the creators of the critically acclaimed Core Keeper, Pugstorm’s KYORA invites players into a procedurally generated open world where every pixel is a tool for creation, whether you are mining precious resources, crafting physics-altering wands, battling biome bosses called the Heralds, or sculpting custom structures.
Key Features
- Explore KYORA: Traverse procedurally generated biomes filled with secrets, dangers, and powerful bosses. Each environment—from forest-cloaked ruins to scorching deserts—offers unique challenges and rewards.
- Pixel-by-Pixel Terraforming: Shape, mine, build, or destroy every pixel in the world. Build bridges, sculpt dream bases, and use terraforming powers mid-battle to gain a tactical edge.
- Craft, Build, and Upgrade: Gather resources to forge weapons, armor, and gear. Create recipes, plant seeds, and use biome-specific materials to survive the wilds.
- Multiplayer Co-Op: Join forces with up to eight players online. Combine skills and abilities for unique gameplay synergies, particularly with the game’s innovative wand mechanics.
The Vision Behind KYORA
KYORA builds on Swedish developer Pugstorm’s legacy of fostering player creativity while introducing fresh gameplay elements, including physics-altering wands and pixel-perfect terraforming. According to Pugstorm, the game aims to blend deep exploration and adventure with a highly customizable sandbox environment.
Why Early Access? And When?
Chucklefish and Pugstorm have chosen an Early Access release to engage the community early in the development process. This approach will allow players to shape the game through feedback, ensuring that KYORA delivers an experience tailored to its audience.
When, sadly, is not clear…
