Split Fiction Officially Announced, Launching in March 2025

Clear your calendars and cancel your boring plans, because Hazelight Studios just dropped some BIG news at The Game Awards — their brand-new co-op game, Split Fiction, is set to launch on March 6, 2025! If you loved It Takes Two or A Way Out, get ready for a sci-fi and fantasy extravaganza that’ll blow your creative socks off.

What’s the Story? Mio, Zoe, and a Machine of Madness

Here’s the pitch: You and your co-op buddy play as Mio and Zoe, two writers who made the mistake of messing with a machine that literally steals their creativity. Now, they’re stuck in their own crazy fictional worlds, trying to reclaim their memories and escape.

The story dives deep into friendship, creativity, and overcoming obstacles — all while dodging laser-shooting robots and, uh, dancing monkeys. (More on those later.)

Why Split Fiction Will Blow Your Mind

Josef Fares, Hazelight’s resident mad genius, said it best: “With Split Fiction, we’ve taken co-op gaming to the next level. The seamless blend of sci-fi and fantasy worlds allowed us to create unique mechanics and a story full of surprises. It’s our most ambitious adventure yet.”

Translation: Get ready for hoverboard tricks, dragon battles, and dance-offs that will literally make you question your gaming skills. Oh, and all this action unfolds in Hazelight’s signature split-screen format, so you can lovingly (or not-so-lovingly) yell at your partner in real-time.

    What’s New? Gameplay Highlights

Among the eyebrow-raising features teased so far:

    • Dance Battles with Monkeys – Because why wouldn’t there be?
    • Hoverboard Escapades – Forget boring running; it’s all about speed and style.
    • Sci-Fi Robots vs. Fantasy Dragons – Take your pick. Either way, you’re fighting something epic.

Hazelight promises wild, creative puzzles and challenges that’ll make your heart race while delivering a good laugh or two.

    Friend Pass: Co-Op Made Easy

If you’ve been dreading the “but my friend doesn’t have the game” excuse, Hazelight’s got you covered. With the Friend Pass, only one player needs to own the game. Your partner can join the adventure online or locally for free. Now THAT’S friendship goals.

    Platforms and Pre-Orders

Split Fiction will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and EA App). Pre-orders are already live on digital storefronts, so maybe drop a not-so-subtle hint to your gaming buddies.

Why This Game is a Big Deal

Jeff Gamon, EA Partners’ general manager, gushed about the collaboration: “Hazelight continues to redefine what’s possible in co-op experiences. We’re thrilled to bring another groundbreaking adventure to players.”

Translation: Josef Fares and his team don’t miss. Split Fiction is shaping up to be the ultimate co-op thrill ride.
