Career Mode offers an awesome experience that lets you manage every aspect of your team, from youth development to player transfers. One of the strategies to strengthen your squad while staying within your budget is signing high-rated players on a pre-contract expiry. This allows you to secure top talents for free, paying only their wages.
Here, we’re going through the best EA Sports FC24 contract expiry signings for the first season in the game. For this reason, the OutsiderGaming (OG) editorial team has put together a guide to this position in the latest soccer sim video game release: EA Sports FC 2024!
At the bottom of the article, you can see the full list of all the best contract expiry signings for the first season. Also, don’t forget to read more about EA FC 24 on OutsiderGaming today.
1. Kylian Mbappé, Paris Saint-Germain (LW, ST)
Kylian Mbappe faces an increasingly uncertain future at PSG, with his contract in the French capital set to expire at the end of the season. Ironically, he didn’t sign an extension and he wasn’t offloaded. So, as it stands, foreign clubs will be eligible to begin pre-contract talks with Mbappe over a free transfer in the summer from January 1.
Turning 25-years-old on 20 December 2023, Mbappé is old enough to qualify for a Bosman transfer by the time the January 2024 window opens in real life and in EA Sports FC24.
Last season, the young Parisian added to his legacy, becoming PSG’s go-to goalscorer with 29 goals in 34 games. Mbappé has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Year a record four times, and has finished as the Ligue 1 top scorer for a joint-record five seasons.
In EA Sports FC24, he will likely command a significant pay bump given his 91 overall rating. Chelsea and Liverpool intend to try their luck for Kylian Mbappe this winter, the two Premier League clubs are ready to offer him the contracts.
2. Nico Williams, Athletic Bilbao (RW)
At 21-years-old and with a tremendous potential rating to grow into, let alone a decent overall rating, Nicholas “Nico” Williams Arthuer is a prime target for a contract expiry signing in EA Sports FC24.
In the last transfer window, both Nico Williams and Athletic Club rejected Aston Villa’s €50 million bid. However, according to ‘Sport’, Liverpool are threatening to make a similar offer, which is worth his termination clause.
Nico is a favourite among EA Sports FC24 young talents, thanks to his 80 OVR, five-star weak foot, four-star skill moves, 92 acceleration, 93 sprint speed, and 91 agility.
Still yet to reach his prime, there’s a chance that Nico can become a 2024 contract expiry signing for the first season of Career Mode.
3. Adrien Rabiot, Juventus (CM)
He may not be the big-name at Juventus, but Adrien Thibault Marie Rabiot is certainly still considered to be among the best players in Serie A, particularly when it comes to the midfield position.
Once again, the French superstar is off to a hot start. Playing as Juventus’ midfielder, Rabiot scored his first goal for the club on 7 July 2020 in a 4–2 away loss to Milan in Serie A with a spectacular finish from the edge of the box.
In EA Sports FC24, Rabiot has all the potential of a great central midfielder. I mean his best attributes are his 89 stamina, 88 jumping, 83 vision, 85 Ball control and 86 shot power.
While he is 28-years-old, it’s tough to see Rabiot’s hefty 84 OVR degrading too much over two seasons, making him one of the best contract expiry signings to target in 2024 on Career Mode.
4. Tomas Soucek, West Ham (CDM)
An unsung hero of West Ham continued dominance over the last few years, Tomas Soucek has cemented himself as a trusted defensive midfielder for his club and country.
The West Ham defensive midfielder is already one of the mid rated CDM in EA Sports FC24, but by the time his contract expiry is set to come around, Soucek may have reached his 80 POT.
The 28-year-old has been a useful player for West Ham since joining in January 2020, but he is nearing the end of his contract at the London club.
The 28-year-old midfielder has certainly proven his quality in the Premier League over the years, and he is unlikely to have any shortage of suitors available if his contract expires this coming winter.
5. Piotr Zielinski, Napoli (CM)
Despite being hailed by his peers as one of the best creative central midfielders for Napoli and his country, Piotr Sebastian Zieliński has had such a high-tier of club association throughout his career that he’s rarely featured as one of Napoli star midfielders.
The 29-year-old Poland midfielder now finds himself in a swollen Napoli attacking corps. As of now, the Partenopei man is waiting for his club to offer him a contract extension as his current one expires next summer.
Of recent, Zielinski has been in talks with Saudi side Al-Ahli SFC and there’s a 54% chance that Zielinski will make the move this coming winter making him another best contract expiry player to target in 2024 on Career Mode.
The central midfielder has been in talks with other clubs like Juventus, Lazio and Liverpool but rejected their offers. However, he will be forced to consider other possibilities if the Scudetto holders decide to release him.
6. Guido Rodríguez, Real Betis (CDM)
In EA Sports FC24, Real Betis midfield line is still stacked, with Guido Rodríguez being the star of the show. His 83 overall rating and 84 potential are his biggest assets. If he manages to get to the contract expiry signing window, Guido would be a top target.
The 29 year old CDM joined Spanish side Real Betis in 2019 and has a total of 116 appearances for the club. The Argentine player has already won Copa del Rey in the 2021/22 season, Liga MX Defensive Midfielder of the Year, Liga MX Balón de Oro, as well as the 2022 FIFA world cup with Argentina.
Valued at £38 million with an 83 overall rating, Guido is certainly one of the best CDMs in EA Sports FC24, and will soon reach his prime for the position when he becomes a potential contract expiry signing in 2024. He should be an even better player by the second season, too, as the Argentine boasts an 84 potential rating.
7. Youssouf Fofana, AS Monaco (CM)
Youssouf Fofana weighs-in with an 80 overall and stands 6’1’’ in Career Mode, and will be 24-years-old by the time that his contract is set to expire.
The French born’s in-game wage demands may be the main decider as to whether or not he can become a Bosman signing, given all of the high-profile contracts that AS Monaco will have to deal with in the first season.
Fofana is under contract at Monaco until 2024, with there an option within that deal to extend his terms by a further 12 months. He has added on his experience at the World Cup finals, with France beating England to proceed to the finals.
Youssouf Fofana is a man in demand, with the Liverpool and Chelsea-linked midfielder not closing the door on a summer transfer away from Monaco.
