Bad news, Fable fans—our long-awaited return to Albion just got hit with a delay. But hey, at least we got some jaw-dropping pre-alpha gameplay footage to help ease the pain!
Fable: The RPG We’re All Dying to Play… Eventually
It’s official—Fable won’t be gracing our screens in 2024, or even 2025. According to Xbox Studios head Craig Duncan, the fantasy RPG now has an elusive 2026 release window. During the latest episode of the official Xbox Podcast, Duncan confirmed that Playground Games decided to take more time to perfect the experience.
And while delays are always a bit of a bummer, there’s a silver lining—Duncan assures us that this will be the most beautifully realized version of Albion that we’ve ever seen. So basically, it’s going to be worth the wait.
The Silver Lining: That Stunning Pre-Alpha Gameplay!
Alongside the delay announcement, we also got a brand-new pre-alpha gameplay video, and folks… it looks stunning. If the visuals are this impressive in pre-alpha, just imagine how good the final game will look.
The footage, showcased during the Xbox Podcast, confirms that Fable is shaping up to be a next-gen RPG powerhouse, packed with lush environments, smooth animations, and that classic British humor we all love.
Release Date? Still a Mystery
As of now, Fable is officially launching sometime in 2026 for PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. However, rumors are swirling that it may also land on PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch 2.
Will Fable actually go multiplatform? Microsoft hasn’t confirmed anything yet, and honestly, we probably won’t know until the release date is locked in.
Final Thoughts: Time to Practice Patience
Look, we’ve waited over a decade for a new Fable game. A couple more years won’t hurt… right? (Right??)
At least we have a gorgeous preview to dissect in the meantime. Plus, if Playground Games delivers a masterpiece, then we’ll happily forgive them for making us wait.
Until then, let’s keep our swords sharpened, our spells ready, and our chicken-kicking skills in top form.
