Perhaps the most unheralded member of any team is the goalkeeper, yet such incredible responsibility falls on one person to ensure that the ball stays out of the goal.
However, the teams that have an elite-level goalkeeper between the sticks have a tremendous advantage.
Following EA Sports’ reveal of the top 100 player ratings in FIFA 21, we now know who rules the roost as the absolute best goalie in the game.
There are several excellent options to try to sign at GK in FIFA 21, and you will find them all in the table at the foot of the page, with each of the top five being featured in the main body. Here is a list of the best GK in FIFA 21.
Jan Oblak (91 OVR)

Team: Atlético Madrid
Position: GK
Age: 27
Overall Rating: 91
Country: Slovenia
Best Attributes: 92 Goalkeeper Handling, 90 Goalkeeper Reflexes, 90 Goalkeeper Positioning
Jan Oblak produced another strong season for Atlético Madrid as Diego Simeone’s side finished fourth in La Liga.
The Slovenian shot-stopper managed 17 clean sheets, which was second-best in the league – only behind Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois.
Coming into FIFA 21, Oblak retains his 91 Overall and is the outright best goalkeeper available in the game.
With strong fundamentals attributes like 92 goalkeeper handling, 90 goalkeeper reflexes, and 90 goalkeeper positioning, the 27-year-old Slovenian is the best available option for any club in the top five leagues.
Marc-André ter Stegan (90 OVR)

Team: FC Barcelona
Position: GK
Age: 28
Overall Rating: 90
Country: Germany
Best Attributes: 90 Goalkeeper Reflexes, 88 Goalkeeper Positioning, 88 Goalkeeper Diving
The second of three La Liga-based goalkeepers to feature in the top five is Germany international and Barcelona’s number-one, Marc-André ter Stegan, who is one of two goalies rated 90 in FIFA 21.
The 2019/20 campaign wasn’t Ter Stegan’s best for the Catalan giants, with 14 clean sheets and 36 goals conceded in the league.
Since joining from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2014, 36 is the most that Ter Stegan has conceded in a single league season.
Like Oblak, Ter Stegan retains his overall rating from FIFA 20, coming into FIFA 21 as a 90 OVR goalie.
What you’ll get with the lanky German is an excellent shot-stopper with 90 goalkeeper reflexes, 88 goalkeeper positioning, and 88 goalkeeper diving.
Alisson (90 OVR)

Team: Liverpool
Position: GK
Age: 28
Overall Rating: 90
Country: Brazil
Best Attributes: 91 Goalkeeper Positioning, 89 Goalkeeper Reflexes, 88 Goalkeeper Handling
The only Premier League goalkeeper to make the top five is the netminder for the reigning champions, Alisson.
Brazil’s go-to keeper had another strong campaign in the Premier League, with his 29 appearances yielding 15 clean sheets. He did miss several games last season, though, due to injury.
Alisson does receive a warranted rating increase in FIFA 21, moving to a 90 overall (one up from his initial rating in FIFA 20).
The Brazilian has great tangibles in net, which includes his 91 goalkeeper positioning, 89 goalkeeper reflexes, and 88 goalkeeper handling.
Now in the prime of his career, most likely boasting scope for further improvement to his rating, Alisson is a top-class selection.
Manuel Neuer (89 OVR)

Team: Bayern Munich
Position: GK
Age: 34
Overall Rating: 89
Country: Germany
Best Attributes: 91 Goalkeeper Kicking, 89 Goalkeeper Reflexes, 87 Goalkeeper Handling
Arguably the most accomplished keeper on our list is the eight-time Bundesliga champion, Manuel Neuer.
Many considered Neuer to be on the downturn after a below-par 2018/19 campaign. However, Neuer seemed rejuvenated in 2019/20, with 15 clean sheets from 33 Bundesliga outings.
More importantly, Neuer was able to stay healthy throughout for the first time in over two seasons.
The Gelsenkirchen-native gets an improved rating after being sensational last season, returning to an 89 OVR in FIFA 21 having started the last game with a rating of 88.
Neuer was a trailblazer for the sweeper keepers of our generation, being strong on the ball and between the sticks; his ratings of 91 goalkeeper kicking, 89 goalkeeper reflexes, and 87 goalkeeper handling showcase as much.
At 34-years-old, Neuer is a bit of a risk, but it would be difficult to oppose having a World Cup winner in your side.
Thibaut Courtois (90 OVR)

Team: Real Madrid
Position: GK
Age: 28
Overall Rating: 89
Country: Belgium
Best Attributes: 89 Goalkeeper Handling, 88 Goalkeeper Reflexes, 85 Goalkeeper Positioning
The last goalkeeper to feature in the top-five is another of La Liga’s finest, Belgium international Thibaut Courtois.
Courtois’ first season at Los Blancos was poor, riddled with mistakes, which may have stemmed from the presence of a capable competitor in Keylor Navas.
However, Courtois was back to his best with 18 clean sheets (best in La Liga) as Real Madrid won their first league title in two seasons.
Courtois also gets a ratings boost in FIFA 21, upgrading from 88 in FIFA 20 to 89 OVR in this year’s title.
The Belgian shot-stopper is a reliable option in goal, with his 89 goalkeeper handling, 88 goalkeeper reflexes and 85 goalkeeper positioning making him one of the best players in the GK position.
