- 8 All of the best young wonderkid LBs in FIFA 22
The left back position has been reinvented over the last decade or so, adding more responsibilities for it to become much more demanding than the old school stay-at-home role. Now, there are several top-class talents who can do it all from left back or left wing-back.
On this page, we’ve compiled all of the best LB and LWB wonderkids to sign in FIFA 22 Career Mode.
Choosing FIFA 22 Career Mode’s best wonderkid left backs (LB & LWB)
Featuring Ryan Sessegnon, Luca Netz, and, of course, Alphonso Davies, the FIFA 22 left back wonderkid class is bursting with talent.
To make it onto this list of the best left back wonderkids, each player had to have a minimum potential rating of 81, be 21-years-old or younger, and have LB or LWB as their best position.
At the bottom of the article, you can find a complete list of all of the best young wonderkid LB in FIFA 22.
1. Alphonso Davies (82 OVR – 89 POT)

Team: Bayern Munich
Age: 20
Wage: £50,000
Value: £49 million
Best Attributes: 96 Acceleration, 96 Sprint Speed, 85 Agility
Ranked as the very clear best wonderkid left back in FIFA 22, Alphonso Davies also stands among the highest-rated left backs in the game, and is one of the fastest players as well.
The 20-year-old Canadian is simply a must-have for any Career Mode manager looking to build the best team possible. Davies’ best attributes are in his pace, boasting an incredible 96 acceleration, 96 sprint speed, and 85 agility.
Davies did the impossible a couple of seasons ago and forced David Alaba out of the left back position at Bayern Munich. Now, as a guaranteed starter for the perennial German champions, the absurdly athletic wonderkid is only improving further.
2. Luca Netz (68 OVR – 85 POT)

Team: Borussia Mönchengladbach
Age: 18
Wage: £2,300
Value: £2.5 million
Best Attributes: 79 Sprint Speed, 75 Acceleration, 72 Standing Tackle
If he weren’t on-loan – thus, unavailable to buy in the first season of Career Mode – this place would feature Nuno Mendes. Instead, it’s the highly-rated German left back Luca Netz.
Only 18-years-old, the Borussia Mönchengladbach wonderkid may only have a 68 overall rating now, but is set to grow into his mighty 85 potential over the coming seasons. For now, Netz’s 75 acceleration, 72 standing tackle, and 79 sprint speed are serviceable.
Netz switched from Hertha BSC for £3.6 million over the summer, despite only playing 11 total games in an injury-riddled campaign for the club that developed him. However, die Borussen are already working him into the first-team, featuring him in each position down the left flank by matchday five of this season.
3. Juan Miranda (76 OVR – 84 POT)

Team: Real Betis
Age: 21
Wage: £12,500
Value: £14 million
Best Attributes: 78 Acceleration, 78 Sprint Speed, 77 Crossing
Coming out of the Barcelona youth set-up, it shouldn’t be surprising that FIFA 22 rates Juan Miranda so highly – as one of the best left back wonderkids in Career Mode, in fact.
At 76 overall, the Spaniard has a well-rounded set of attribute ratings, as demonstrated by his 78 acceleration, 78 sprint seed, 76 standing tackle, 76 ball control, 76 dribbling, and 76 crossing.
Departing Camp Nou before the fire sale commenced, Miranda stayed in La Liga to play for his boyhood club, Real Betis. The free signing has already worked his way into the starting XI of Los Verdiblancos, with a loan spell to the club last season proving to be a successful audition.
4. Rayan Aït-Nouri (73 OVR – 84 POT)

Team: Wolverhampton Wanderers
Age: 20
Wage: £30,000
Value: £5.5 million
Best Attributes: 76 Acceleration, 76 Balance, 75 Sprint Speed
Hotly tipped as one for the future in previous editions of the game, as he’s still only 20-years-old, Rayan Aït-Nourionce again weighs in among the best wonderkid left backs in FIFA 22.
Aït-Nouri’s main appeal is, naturally, his 84 potential rating, but he’s got some decent ratings in key areas already. The Frenchman’s 75 ball control, 75 dribbling, 75 sprint speed, and 73 crossing allow him to work as a playmaker down the left side.
Over the summer, the Montreuil-native transferred permanently from SCO Angers to Wolves for about £10 million, but returned to Molineux to meet a new boss. So, chances early in the season have, perhaps, been more challenging to come by than if Nuno Espírito Santo had remained in charge.
5. Ryan Sessegnon (75 OVR – 84 POT)

Team: Tottenham Hotspur
Age: 21
Wage: £37,500
Value: £10.5 million
Best Attributes: 85 Acceleration, 84 Balance, 81 Sprint Speed
He may have faded from the headlines whipped up while he was at Fulham, but Ryan Sessegnon is still widely considered to have a high ceiling, which is why he’s on this list of the best left back wonderkids in FIFA 22.
With an 84 potential rating, Sessegnon is certainly one to watch, especially if he’s on the ball. His 85 acceleration, 81 sprint speed, 79 agility, and 78 ball control enable the Englishman to be a menace in attack.
Last season, the Londoner went out on loan to Hoffenheim, who leaned on him much more as a left back – as opposed to the left-mid or left winger role that he was toying with in the season prior. To open this season, new manager Santo has been keen to give Sessegnon opportunities with the first-team.
6. Owen Wijndal (80 OVR – 84 POT)

Team: AZ Alkmaar
Age: 21
Wage: £8,600
Value: £24.5 million
Best Attributes: 86 Acceleration, 86 Stamina, 84 Sprint Speed
It’s very rare for these wonderkids lists to not feature an up-and-coming Dutch starlet due to the Eredivisie being such a strong farm league. So, just sneaking into the top end is Owen Wijndal, with a potential rating of 84.
Given his overall rating of 80, Wijndal is almost on-par with Davies as being first-team ready for a top club in FIFA 22. The Zaandam-native’s 86 acceleration, 86 stamina, 84 sprint speed, and 82 agility mean that he’ll be a nuisance for opposing full-backs, with his 80 short pass being a great asset for possession-based tactics.
Last season, Wijndal played every single minute of AZ Alkmaar’s Eredivisie campaign, even pulling on the captain’s armband for a few matches. He’s had a slow start to 2021/22 due to injury, but will almost certainly reclaim his place in the starting XI once he’s fully fit.
7. Valentín Barco (63 OVR – 83 POT)

Team: Boca Juniors
Age: 16
Wage: £430
Value: £1.1 million
Best Attributes: 75 Balance, 68 Acceleration, 66 Dribbling
Only 16-years-old, dirt cheap by way of value and wages, coming from South America, and boasting a very high 83 potential rating: Valentín Barco has the makings of a FIFA 22 favourite.
As it stands, there’s not much that’s serviceable about Barco, with his 75 balance, 68 acceleration, and 65 slide tackle being the highlight ratings. So, it’s all about that 83 potential rating for this left back wonderkid.
Barco is already the talk of world football, becoming the fourth-youngest person to play for the storied Boca Juniors. He hasn’t played many games, and the pandemic has subdued Argentina’s football pyramid, but Manchester City are already said to be in the hunt.
