- 8 All of the best young Attacking Midfielders (CAM) on FIFA 23 Career Mode
The days of the four-four-two have, for the most part, been replaced by four-three-threes and five-at-the-backs. This has meant that the traditional central midfield position has developed into a more specialist role, with players now falling under the category of either an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder.
Choosing FIFA 23 Career Mode’s best young attacking midfielders
In this article, we will be focusing in on the best young attacking midfielders on FIFA 23 for your Career Mode, including the likes of Kai Havertz, Phil Foden, and Mason Mount.
These have been chosen based on their predicted overall rating in FIFA 23 and to qualify, they needed to be less than 24 years old, and have a preferred position in the attacking midfield (CAM).
At the bottom of the article, you’ll find a full list of all of the predicted best young attacking midfielders (CAM) in FIFA 23.
Phil Foden (84 OVR – 92 POT)
Team: Manchester City
Value: £81.3 million
Best Attributes: 91 Balance, 90 Agility, 88 Ball Control
Foden’s predicted 92 potential on FIFA 23 makes him one of the best future players in the game, and with 84 overall, he’s more than useable already.
In last year’s game, the Englishman’s 91 balance and 91 agility to go along with 88 ball control and 86 acceleration allowed him to find space in tight areas to attack the defence.
Born in Manchester, the prodigiously talented young star worked his way through Manchester City’s youth team before making his professional debut in 2017, and has improved statistically every season since.
Foden made his international debut for England in September 2020, starring in a 1-0 win over Iceland. He’s played 16 times for his country since then, scoring two goals in that time.
In no time at all, Foden has grown to become a key player for City under Guardiola. In the 2021/22 campaign, he was one of City’s top performers, scoring 14 goals and recording 11 assists in 45 total appearances across all competitions. His exploits saw him named as the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2022 for the second successive season.
He has already scored twice from 9 games in the current campaign and will no doubt be among the top rated youngsters in FIFA 23.
Kai Havertz (84 OVR – 92 POT)
Value: £81.3 million
Best Attributes: 86 Sprint Speed, 86 Dribbling, 85 Ball Control
Kai Havertz has a strong rating of 84 on FIFA 23, but it’s his predicted 92 potential that gives him the chance to be one of the world’s best.
The 86 sprint speed of Chelsea’s £72 million signing stands out amongst others in his position. His 86 dribbling, 85 ball control, and 84 composure in last year’s game also mean that he is great in and around the box.
The German star struggled to continue the form that he showed at Leverkusen when he moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2020 and continues to command mixed feelings within the Blues’ fanbase. He has since been converted to a false nine and while many debate on his suitability in that position, no Chelsea fan can complain about his Champions League final winning goal against Manchester City in 2021.
In the 2021/22 season, he managed 14 goals across all competitions for Chelsea but has only found the net once from eight games in the current campaign. The arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to see him get less game-time.
He has, however, shown reasonable form for his national side; his 28 caps for Germany have resulted in eight goals, two of which came in Euro 2020.
Mason Mount (83 OVR – 89 POT)
Value: £50.3 million
Best Attributes: 86 Short Passing, 86 Stamina, 85 Ball Control
Mason Mount is expected to retain this 83 rating on FIFA 23, but his 89 potential will make him an attractive prospect for any team.
Excelling more at passing than dribbling, his 86 short passing and 83 long passing from last year’s game mean that Mount can pick out any teammate. His 84 composure and 83 reactions also make him efficient in a crowded midfield.
The Chelsea youth graduate has been a regular over the past three seasons and only missed three league games across the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons after two loan spells at Vittese and Derby County.
His two goals and two assists in the 2021/22 Champions League last season helped Chelsea to win the tournament, with one of those assists coming in the final. Last season, he was the Blues’ top goal-contributor in the Premier League, having scored 11 goals and recorded 10 assists in 32 league games.
Dani Olmo (82 OVR – 87 POT)
Team: RB Leipzig
Value: £39.6 million
Best Attributes: 86 Agility, 86 Balance, 86 Ball Control
Dani Olmo is a Barcelona graduate now playing for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, and has a predicted 83 overall rating with an 87 potential rating.
Olmo’s movement will be his greatest asset on FIFA 23, with 86 agility and 86 balance indicative of that. He also excels in tight areas with his current 86 ball control, 86 dribbling, 84 short passing, and 83 reactions.
The Spaniard scored five goals and created ten more for RB Leipzig in the 2020/21 season; in what was the 24-year-old’s most productive season in his career. He was also a valuable player for Spain in Euro 2020, accumulating three assists in the knockout stages.
While he only managed four goals in the 2021/22 campaign, two strikes from seven games in the current campaign means that he is on track to have the best goalscoring season of his career.
Martin Ødegaard (82 OVR – 88 POT)
Value: £41.2 million
Best Attributes: 86 Vision, 85 Agility, 85 Dribbling
Great expectations were bestowed upon Martin Ødegaard from a young age. Now 23 years of age, the Norwegian’s predicted overall rating of 82 and his 88 potential suggest that he is living up to those expectations.
In last year’s game, Ødegaard was best when picking out his teammates with 86 vision, 84 crossing, and 83 short passing. He also has the ability to take the ball past defenders with 85 dribbling and 85 ball control.
Ødegaard was loaned out four times before a permanent move to Arsenal in the summer of 2021 for £34m, showing promise at the London club for the latter part of the 2020/21 season.
Despite his young age, the talented midfielder is already captain for both Norway and Arsenal, and has represented the national side on 43 occasions and scored twice. His seven goals and five assists in the 2021/22 season, saw him end the campaign as Arsenal’s next top-goal contributor after Bukayo Saka.
Christopher Nkunku (81 OVR – 86 POT)
Team: RB Leipzig
Value: £33.5 million
Best Attributes: 86 Ball Control, 86 Dribbling, 85 Agility
If Nkunku reaches his current potential, there’s no doubt that he will soon be making his international debut for France. He has a predicted 81 rating overall on FIFA 23, but with a potential of 86 it’s clear that he has plenty of scope for improvement.
Nkunku is adept at taking the ball past defenders with 86 dribbling and 86 ball control. His movement is also strong with 85 agility, 83 balance, and 81 acceleration.
In the 21/2022 campaign, the versatile Frenchman bagged a career high 35 goals and 20 assists in all competitions making it his most prolific season since joining Leipzig in 2019. He also playing a key role as Leipzig lifted the German Cup in May.
His performances saw him named as the Bundesliga Player of The Season for the 2021/22 season, while also earning a new-improved contract from Leipzig. In the current season, he already has four goals from six Bundesliga games and is looking prime for another record breaking campaign.
Nicola Vlašić (80 OVR – 86 POT)
Team: Torino FC (On loan from West Ham)
Value: £28.5 million
Best Attributes: 88 Balance, 85 Dribbling, 83 Sprint Speed
Vlašić has played most positions in both the midfield and attack, but he’s best utilised as an attacking midfielder. His current 80 overall rating and 86 potential make him a great option for your Career Mode.
The Croatian bucks the trend of players in his position being both agile and balanced; though he has 88 balance, his 78 agility lets him down somewhat. His 85 dribbling and 81 long shots, however, ensure that he is still able to find space from distance and shoot.
Two double-digit scoring seasons in the last two years saw Vlašić move back to the Premier League, joining West Ham at the start of the 2021/22 season. Though he had a campaign to forget in 2021/22, after scoring only one goal all season, he joined Serie A side Torino ahead of the current campaign and has hit the ground running with three Serie A goals already from six games.
On the national front, he has made 39 appearances since making his debut for Croatia in 2017, scoring seven goals in that span.
