The pool of top-class right backs or right wing-backs is notoriously shallow in FIFA games, and in FIFA 22, most of the best in the position and the wonderkids are very expensive to acquire. Still, there are some cheap options that you can either develop for your starting XI or buy low to sell on for a hefty profit.
To help make the most of your transfer budget, here are the best RBs with high potential ratings for you to sign in Career Mode.
Choosing FIFA 22 Career Mode’s best cheap right backs (RB & RWB) with high potential
You’d be surprised at the clubs that you can raid for some high potential, cheap RBs in FIFA 22, with the likes of Neco Williams, Pierre Kalulu, and João Mário making the cut.
For any player to get onto this list, they need to have RB or RWB listed as their prime position, have a £5 million valuation at the most, and have a potential rating of at least 81.
At the foot of this article, you can see the full list of all of the best cheap right backs (RB & RWB) with high potential ratings in Career Mode.
Hugo Siquet (70 OVR – 83 POT)

Team: Standard Liège
Age: 19
Wage: £3,800
Value: £3.1 million
Best Attributes: 80 Crossing, 77 Sprint Speed, 77 Curve
Atop the list of the best cheap high potential right backs to sign in FIFA 22 is Hugo Siquet, who’s valued at £3.1 million at the start of Career Mode with an 83 potential rating.
The Belgian’s 70 overall rating doesn’t look great, even for a 19-year-old, but his most important attributes all have much higher ratings. Siquet enters the game with 80 crossing, 74 acceleration, 77 sprint speed, 74 stamina, and 77 curve, making him a decent playmaker down the right flank already.
Last season, the defender born in Marche-en-Famenne broke into the Standard Liège ranks, playing 26 games and setting up six goals. For 2021/22, Siquet is the club’s starting right back.
João Mário (72 OVR – 83 POT)

Team: FC Porto
Age: 21
Wage: £5,400
Value: £4.3 million
Best Attributes: 76 Acceleration, 75 Sprint Speed, 75 Balance
He may be on the books for one of the best clubs in Portugal, but 21-year-old João Mário is still only valued at £4.3 million in FIFA 22, landing him on this list of the best cheap right backs with high potential ratings.
At 72-overall, Mário’s got the right attribute ratings to make him a viable pick at RB, boasting 76 acceleration, 75 sprint speed, 73 crossing, and 73 dribbling.
Now FC Porto’s go-to right back in Liga Bwin – with Jesús Corona taking the Champions League shifts in the early season – Mário had scored two goals and four assists by his 30th game for the Dragões.
Gonçalo Esteves (65 OVR – 82 POT)

Team: Sporting CP
Age: 17
Wage: £430
Value: £1.5 million
Best Attributes: 71 Acceleration, 70 Sprint Speed, 70 Dribbling
With a fair potential rating of 82, and valued at just £1.5 million, Gonçalo Esteves offers one of the cheapest ways of getting a future starting right back in Career Mode.
As you’d expect from a 17-year-old RWB, Esteves doesn’t have many usable ratings just yet. That said, his 70 sprint speed, 70 dribbling, and 71 acceleration lay the foundations for a useful speedster down the line.
The Portuguese youngster is yet to play for the Sporting CP first-team, but did feature for his nation’s under-16s 11 times before recently moving up to the under-19s side.
Pierre Kalulu (69 OVR – 82 POT)

Team: AC Milan
Age: 21
Wage: £9,100
Value: £2.8 million
Best Attributes: 76 Jumping, 73 Acceleration, 72 Sprint Speed
Already playing for AC Milan, it might come as a surprise that you can get Pierre Kalulu at a low cost in Career Mode. Still, with his 69 overall and 82 potential rating, the 21-year-old comes in as one of the best cheap RBs to sign.
The Frenchman, valued at £2.8 million, has decent ratings in speed and tackling despite his overall rating. Kalulu’s 73 acceleration, 72 sprint speed, 72 stand tackle, and 71 slide tackle make him a worthy defence-first RB.
Making his way through the youth system of his local Ligue 1 side, Olympique Lyonnais, Kalulu got as far as the B-Team before the Rossoneri swooped in to sign him for around £400,000. Last season, he started in Europa League play-off, Serie A, and Coppa Italia matches, and continues to get starts in the 2021/22 campaign.
Ignace van der Brempt (66 OVR – 82 POT)

Team: Club Brugge KV
Age: 19
Wage: £2,900
Value: £1.8 million
Best Attributes: 79 Sprint Speed, 69 Stamina, 69 Strength
Ignace van der Brempt features an 82 potential rating and is only valued at £1.8 million, making the 19-year-old a prime target for FIFA 22 gamers seeking a cheap RB with high potential.
Despite his 6’3’’ frame, the Belgian youngster boasts 79 sprint speed and 67 acceleration. Still, at 66 overall, his 66 standing tackle, 66 dribbling, and 64 sliding tackle still need time to develop.
Already a feature in two Jupiler Pro League-winning campaigns with Club Brugge – playing a very small part in each – Van der Brempt now finds himself more regularly involved in the first-team for the 2021/22 campaign.
Neco Williams (68 OVR – 82 POT)

Team: Liverpool
Age: 20
Wage: £18,000
Value: £2.4 million
Best Attributes: 78 Balance, 76 Acceleration, 74 Agility
Welsh right back Neco Williams secures a place among the top-tier of cheap high potential players by virtue of his 82 potential rating and £2.4 million value.
Somewhat surprisingly for his 68 overall rating, Liverpool’s youngster has high ratings in several key attributes already. His 76 acceleration, 73 sprint speed, 69 crossing, and 68 short passing make him an adequate back-up for now, and should lay the foundations of a valuable RB after a few seasons.
Williams was catapulted into regular first-team football for the Reds amidst their injury crisis last season, featuring in all major competitions. He’s stuck behind Trent Alexander-Arnold again this season, but will likely be called up to add to his 14 caps for Wales.
Josha Vagnoman (71 OVR – 82 POT)

Team: Hamburger SV
Age: 20
Wage: £5,500
Value: £3.4 million
Best Attributes: 90 Sprint Speed, 87 Strength, 83 Acceleration
Easily the most instantly usable cheap high potential RB to sign in Career Mode, Josha Vagnoman is valued at just £3.4 million and is the last player on this list with an 82 potential rating.
The German’s 90 sprint speed, 87 strength, 83 acceleration, and 76 stamina more than compensate for his seemingly low 71 overall rating, with the rapid right back being able to beat just about any opposing defender for pace.
While injury troubles have often kept Vagnoman on the sidelines, when he’s fit, the 20-year-old has been Hamburger’s top right back, and has sometimes been deployed as a right midfielder. By his 58th game, he’d scored three goals and set-up another two.
