FIFA 22 Wonderkids: Best Young Central Midfielders (CM) to Sign in Career Mode

We have ALL the best wonderkid central midfielders (CM) on FIFA 22 Career Mode right here.

Required to move the ball forward and protect the defence, set the forwards off on penetrating runs upfield as well as oust any attackers running through the middle of the park, central midfielders are asked to play a two-way game.

In FIFA, your CMs are your engine, but the best way to get a world-class one is to develop a wonderkid – paying what is often a lower fee to cement the role for years to come.

Here, you’ll find all of the best CM wonderkids to sign in FIFA 22 Career Mode.

Choosing FIFA 22 Career Mode’s best wonderkid central midfielders (CM)

Boasting generational talents like Eduardo Camavinga, Pedri, and Ryan Gravenberch, you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to CM wonderkids in FIFA 22.

So that we only provide the very best central midfield wonderkids to sign in Career Mode, those selected here are all 21-years-old or younger, have CM listed as their preferred position, and have a minimum potential rating of 83.

At the base of this article, you’ll find the full list of all of the best central midfield (CM) wonderkids in FIFA 22.

Pedri (81 OVR – 91 POT)

Team: FC Barcelona
Age: 18
Wage: £43,500
Value: £46.5 million
Best Attributes: 89 Balance, 88 Agility, 86 Stamina

After exploding onto the scene last season, Pedri now stands as the best CM wonderkid in FIFA 22 by virtue of being 18-years-old and having a potential rating of 91.

You need your central midfielders to have the ability to play assured passes as well as have the engine to work both ends of the field for 90 minutes: Pedri already offers this despite his tender age. With 88 agility, 86 stamina, 85 short pass, 86 vision, and 80 long passing, the Spaniard can already be trusted in your midfield.

After spending an extra season on-loan to the club that developed him, UD Las Palmas, Pedri finally arrived at Camp Nou for the start of last season. The teenager ended up playing 52 games for the giants of Cataluña, which led to him smashing his way into Spain’s national team and being their star performer at Euro 2020.

Ryan Gravenberch (78 OVR – 90 POT)

Team: Ajax
Age: 19
Wage: £8,900
Value: £28.5 million
Best Attributes: 84 Ball Control, 83 Dribbling, 81 Stamina

He’s been on the shortlists of football simulation gamers for a couple of years, and has only lived up to expectations in real life. Now, in FIFA 22, Ryan Gravenberch stands as the second-best CM wonderkid to sign in Career Mode.

At 78 overall and with a 90 potential rating, the Dutch midfielder already looks to be a must-buy at 19-years-old, with his attributes enhancing this standing. The right-footer stands 6’3’’ to be a real presence in the middle of the park, utilising his 84 ball control, 81 vision, 79 short pass, and 78 long pass to orchestrate proceedings.

The Amsterdam-native has already hoisted the Eredivisie shield twice, the Dutch Cup twice, and the under-17s European Championship. So, to say that he’s accomplished would be an understatement. Last season, he commanded Ajax’s midfield, playing 47 games to put up five goals and six assists.

Jude Bellingham (79 OVR – 89 POT)

Team: Borussia Dortmund
Age: 18
Wage: £17,500
Value: £31.5 million
Best Attributes: 87 Stamina, 82 Reactions, 82 Aggression

With an 89 potential rating, Borussia Dortmund have yet another wonderkid in their first-team, with Jude Bellingham ranking among the very best young CMs in FIFA 22.

At 18-years-old, Bellingham is already a total workhorse, boasting 87 stamina, 82 reactions, 81 agility, and 82 aggression. Essentially, the Englishman is built to cover the field box-to-box now, with his athleticism and technical skills only set to improve as he climbs towards that hefty potential rating.

Last season, the Stourbridge-native’s first in the Bundesliga since moving from Birmingham City, Bellingham snatched at the early chances given to him, eventually cementing a starting spot. By the end of the season, he had scored four goals and four assists in 46 games.

Eduardo Camavinga (78 OVR – 89 POT)

Team: Real Madrid
Age: 18
Wage: £37,500
Value: £25.5 million
Best Attributes: 81 Composure, 81 Ball Control, 81 Short Pass

Still only 18-years-old but already a trusted central midfielder for Stade Rennais and, increasingly, for Real Madrid, it won’t surprise many that Eduardo Camavinga ranks as one of the best central midfield wonderkids in FIFA 22, toting a potential rating of 89.

Camavinga has spent time in defensive midfield, which is reflected in the 78-overall midfielder’s attributes. Not only does he have 81 short pass, 80 stamina, and 81 ball control, but the French teen also starts Career Mode with 76 interceptions, 78 standing tackle, and 75 defensive awareness.

As if to make a statement while their perpetual title rivals unravelled into turmoil, Los Blancos splashed just less than £30 million to acquire one of the most highly-rated young players in the world. Since the switch to the Bernabéu, Camavinga has been given lots of game time in central midfield and defensive midfield.

Maxence Caqueret (78 OVR – 86 POT)

Team: Olympique Lyonnais
Age: 21
Wage: £38,000
Value: £27 million
Best Attributes: 87 Agility, 86 Stamina, 85 Balance

Heading up the second tier of the best CM wonderkids in FIFA 22 is Maxence Caqueret, who can develop his 78 overall rating into an 86 potential rating.

Despite the POT drop from the truly elite CM wonderkids above, Caqueret is still a superb talent to sign in Career Mode. His 87 agility, 86 stamina, 85 balance, 83 aggression, and 81 short pass are already worthy traits for a starting centre-mid, despite his initial 78 overall rating.

Breaking into the Ligue 1 ranks back in the 2019/20 season, the French midfielder is now an established part of Olympique Lyonnais’ starting XI. Not one for directly influencing the score sheet, last season, Caqueret set up one goal in 33 games.

Pablo Gavi (66 OVR – 85 POT)

Team: FC Barcelona
Age: 16
Wage: £3,300
Value: £1.8 million
Best Attributes: 78 Balance, 77 Agility, 74 Short Pass

Due to him only being 16-years-old and having a potential rating of 85, Pablo Gavi is the exact kind of wonderkid that FIFA players will be searching for, with him ranking sixth among the best young CMs to sign in Career Mode.

As you’d assume from someone so young with a 66 overall rating, Gavi doesn’t have many useful attribute ratings just yet. The highlights are his 77 agility, 74 short pass, 70 ball control, 70 vision, and 69 long pass, which do bode very well for his development into a deep-lying playmaker – or a Xavi incarnate, if you will.

Based on the fact that Gavi started the season by getting minutes with the Barça first-team, playing in LaLiga and the Champions League, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if a mid-season FIFA 22 update saw the Spaniard’s potential increase.

Ilaix Moriba (73 OVR – 85 POT)

Team: Red Bull Leipzig
Age: 18
Wage: £14,000
Value: £6 million
Best Attributes: 76 Dribbling, 76 Short Pass, 75 Finishing

Ilaix Moriba is a special talent and is now at the perfect club for him to reach his potential. In FIFA 22, this is reflected in his 85 potential rating, which places the 6’1’’ midfielder among the best CM wonderkids in the game.

The build of the Spain youth-capped Guinean is almost of an attacking midfielder, but his well-rounded ratings make him perfect for the CM role too. Moriba’s 76 short pass, 74 ball control, and 75 long pass are exactly what you want from a playmaker in the middle of the park, but it’s that 75 finishing that FIFA 22 gamers will love to utilise: having the teenager surge towards the box to fire into the back of the net.

A prime product in the Barcelona fire sale at the end of the summer window, Moriba now finds himself in a much better situation for his development. He landed 18 appearances for Barça, but his new club in East Germany have a knack for developing raw talents into world-class stars.
