Choosing FIFA 22 Career Mode’s best wonderkid attacking midfielders (CAM)

This year’s batch of the best young players in the CAM position is loaded with talent, headlined by the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Phil Foden, and Florian Wirtz.

Each of the best attacking midfield wonderkids on this list are 21-years-old at the most, boast a minimum potential rating of 82, and have CAM set as their optimum position.

Despite only being 21-years-old, the Stockport lad is very much a first-team feature for arguably the strongest team in the Premier League. Last season, he scored 16 goals and ten assists in 50 appearances, which enabled him to become a core part of England’s Euro 2020 squad.

Bayer Leverkusen have been a great club for developing top prospects over the last decade or so, with Wirtz being one of their latest hot properties. The Pulheim-native scored eight goals and eight assists in 38 games last season, but the teen looks to break out in a big way this year, putting up five goals and four assists in the first six games alone.

Hailing from Stuttgart, Musiala comes into the game with 90 balance, 87 agility, 86 dribbling, and 84 ball control – making him a superb ball-carrier that can drag defenders away and craft his own passing angles.

Last season, the versatile youngster was given 39 chances to showcase his ability, which yielded seven goals and an assist for Bayern Munich. This season, just eight games in, Musiala had found the back of the net four times and he’s set up three more, being played on the left wing, right wing, and in attacking midfield.

The English-born, US-capped attacking midfielder already has the tools to be a provider from outside of the box, as well as be an occasional goalscorer. His 86 dribbling, 79 short pass, and 79 ball control mean that he’s great at moving the ball where it needs to go, while his 79 shot power and 68 finishing make him a shooting option.

Borussia Dortmund’s never-ending conveyor belt of future world-class stars continues to roll, with Reyna being one of the latest prospects to breakthrough. He was given a few sample showings in 2019/20, but properly made his mark on the club last season, scoring seven goals and setting up eight more in 46 games.

The 6’1’’ right-footer stands out from the wonderkids above, primarily due to his superb ability to put the ball in the back of the net. His 84 long shots and 84 shot power make the Hungarian a menace from outside of the box, as do his 87 free-kick accuracy and 88 curve.

After starting last season with four goals and eight assists in the Austrian Bundesliga for RB Salzburg, RB Leipzig paid to bring Szoboszlai to the German Bundesliga. However, a long-term injury delayed his start for the club. To commence this season, though, he netted three goals in seven games.

6. Fabio Carvalho (67 OVR – 86 POT)

Still only 67 overall, the Portuguese-born Englishman doesn’t have many particularly eye-catching attribute ratings yet, with 85 balance, 77 acceleration, and 79 agility being his best. That said, he’s only valued at £2.2 million, so could prove to be a bargain.

In Fulham’s relegation campaign of last season, Carvalho was introduced to Craven Cottage in the final batch of games. This season, he commenced as a starting XI regular in the Championship, scoring three goals in the first five games from attacking midfield.

Almada continues to play a key role for Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield, predominantly from attacking midfield. At the time of writing, the 20-year-old already had 23 goals and ten assists in 87 games for the top-flight club.
