Zinedine Zidane, Lilian Thuram, Laurent Blanc, Thierry Henry, and Michel Platini are just some of the exquisite Frenchmen to dominate the world stage, and now the nation has forged a new batch of World Cup-winning talents.
Most nations reach the peak of winning silverware and then struggle to climb the mountain again until a new batch of youngsters emerges. France, however, already boast a tremendous group of wonderkids, which is why so many in Career Mode turn to France to sign future greats.
To help you to develop a key piece for the reigning World Cup champions, here are all of the best French wonderkids in FIFA 22.
Choosing FIFA 22 Career Mode’s best French wonderkids
The class of French wonderkids in FIFA 22 runs very deep, with the likes of Wesley Fofana, Eduardo Camavinga, and Rayan Cherki headlining the top young players.
To make it onto this list of the best French wonderkids, each player needed to not be older than 21-years-old, have a potential rating of at least 83, and have France as their footballing nation.
At the bottom of the page, you can see the full list of all of the best young French wonderkids in FIFA 22.
1. Eduardo Camavinga (78 OVR – 89 POT)

Team: Real Madrid
Age: 18
Wage: £37,500
Value: £25.5 million
Best Attributes: 81 Composure, 81 Short Pass, 81 Ball Control
Just as he’s one of the best young CM wonderkids in FIFA 22, Eduardo Camavinga also ranks as the outright best French wonderkid to sign in Career Mode.
Still only 18-years-old, the new signing for Real Madrid is already a 78-overall player, boasting top attribute ratings of 81 short passing, 80 stamina, 80 dribbling, and 81 ball control.
Having made waves with a club-record-setting Stade Rennais squad, Real Madrid were happy to pay some £28 million to acquire one of France’s best young players. After the switch, the Angolan-born midfielder was given minutes in LaLiga from the get-go.
2. Rayan Cherki (73 OVR – 88 POT)

Team: Olympique Lyonnais
Age: 17
Wage: £7,900
Value: £6 million
Best Attributes: 84 Agility, 84 Dribbling, 83 Balance
Olympique Lyonnais’ exciting young winger Rayan Cherki breaks into the elite-tier of French wonderkids in FIFA 22 at just 17 years of age. While his 73 overall rating is impressive, his 88 potential is what makes the Frenchman such a coveted signing.
With 84 agility, 84 dribbling, 79 ball control, 76 shot power, 75 acceleration, 77 curve, and 72 free-kick accuracy, Cherki is already a potent goal threat from the wings and set-pieces.
Despite his age, the Lyon-native FIFA 22 RW has already featured in 48 games for his club, notching seven goals and six assists by that point. To start this season, the youngster was continually given minutes in Ligue 1.
3. Maxence Lacroix (79 OVR – 86 POT)

Team: VfL Wolfsburg
Age: 21
Wage: £36,000
Value: £28.5 million
Best Attributes: 93 Sprint Speed, 83 Strength, 83 Interceptions
A near certainty for France’s centre back position in the seasons to come on FIFA 22, Maxence Lacroix offers the exact build needed to attempt to counter one of the easiest methods of scoring goals – having fast players.
The top French young CB wonderkid enters Career Mode with 93 sprint speed, 81 acceleration, 83 strength, and 83 defensive awareness. These ratings would be stellar in a starting centre back, let alone one who’s 21-years-old, 79 overall, and can grow into an 86 potential rating.
Coming over from FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in 2020, where he played 20 Ligue 2 games in 2019/20, Lacroix instantly asserted himself as a starting XI centre back in the Bundesliga. In his first season with VfL Wolfsburg, last season, he scored twice in 36 games.
4. Maxence Caqueret (78 OVR – 86 POT)

Team: Olympique Lyonnais
Age: 21
Wage: £38,000
Value: £27 million
Best Attributes: 87 Agility, 86 Stamina, 85 Balance
With an 86 potential rating at the age of 21, Maxence Caqueret certainly deserves a place in the upper tier of this list of the best French wonderkids to sign in Career Mode.
The 5’9’’ CM has been given some strong ratings from the start of FIFA 22, which include his 87 agility, 81 short pass, 86 stamina, and 80 ball control – all of which make him more valuable than his 78 overall rating would suggest.
For Olympique Lyonnais, Caqueret is deployed in central midfield and defensive midfield, with his preference for the possession and retrieval side of the game made clear by his single goal in 60 games.
5. Wesley Fofana (78 OVR – 86 POT)

Team: Leicester City
Age: 20
Wage: £49,000
Value: £25 million
Best Attributes: 83 Interceptions, 80 Sprint Speed, 80 Strength
Already a commanding presence at 6’3’’ with 80 strength, Wesley Fofana still has a lot of growing to do in Career Mode, with his 86 potential rating planting him among the best French wonderkids.
Born in Marseille, Fofana has rapidly been given solid all-around ratings in FIFA 22, and with good reason. While his 78 overall rating may seem a bit low, his 83 interceptions, 79 defensive awareness, 80 strength, 80 standing tackle, and 80 sprint speed compensate well.
Last season, his first with Leicester City since sealing a £32 million move from Saint-Étienne, Fofana almost immediately moved into a starting role. The Frenchman ended up playing in all but 11 games that he could for the Foxes, amounting to 38 appearances (almost all of which were starts), and he’s still only 20-years-old.
6. Boubacar Kamara (80 OVR – 86 POT)

Team: Olympique de Marseille
Age: 21
Wage: £26,000
Value: £27 million
Best Attributes: 83 Aggression, 83 Interceptions, 81 Composure
With N’Golo Kanté leading by example, another top-class CDM looks to be emerging in France, with Boubacar Kamara’s 86 potential rating making him one of the best French wonderkids in FIFA 22.
Already rated 80 overall at the age of 21, Kamara stands as the best French wonderkid to play from the start of a Career Mode. Boasting 83 interceptions, 81 standing tackle, 80 sliding tackle, and 79 short pass, it’s very easy to trust the young player.
Playing for his local Ligue 1 team, the young Frenchman has been a staple of the Olympique de Marseille squad for years. He made his debut in September 2017, in the Europa League, and has since scored three goals and five assists – as of the 129-game mark.
7. Michael Olise (73 OVR – 85 POT)

Team: Crystal Palace
Age: 19
Wage: £19,000
Value: £6 million
Best Attributes: 91 Agility, 87 Balance, 80 Acceleration
Quite likely one of the most cost-effective French wonderkids to sign in Career Mode, Crystal Palace’s young attacking midfielder is valued at just £6 million but totes a potential rating of 85.
Already a crafty CAM to play, Michael Olise can frustrate opponents with his 91 agility, 80 acceleration, 77 sprint speed, and 77 ball control. Yet, he can still enhance these attributes as he adds another 12 overall points to his profile.
Born in London, Olise came through the Reading youth setup, landing a £9 million move to Crystal Palace over the summer. In his last season with The Royals, he scored seven goals and 12 assists in 46 games. Now, Patrick Vieira is easing the young player into Premier League action.
