Over the last decade or so, FIFA gameplay has been dictated by pace – it’s arguably the most important attribute in the game. Ensuring that your full backs have the pace to bomb up and down the flanks and keep up with opposing attackers is essential if you want to dominate in your Career Mode save.
This article focuses upon the fastest right backs (RBs and RWBs) in the game with Ruan, Achraf Hakimi, and Luis Advíncula being amongst the best in FIFA 22.
We have ranked these speedsters based on their sprint speed rating, their acceleration rating, and the fact that their favoured position is right back or right wing back.
At the bottom of the article, you’ll find a full list of all of the fastest right backs (RB and RWB) in FIFA 22.
Achraf Hakimi (85 OVR – 88 POT)
Team: Paris Saint-Germain
Age: 22
Wage: £86,000 p/w
Value: £59.8 million
Best Attributes: 95 Sprint Speed, 95 Acceleration, 91 Stamina
Achraf Hakimi is simply one of the best athletes in the sport. Ratings of 95 for sprint speed and acceleration are a fair illustration of the former Real Madrid star’s scintillating turn of pace.
Current side PSG stumped up £54 million to sign the marauding Moroccan after he scored on seven occasions and assisted ten more in the league whilst on loan to at Inter Milan during their Serie A-winning 2020/21 campaign, although that kind of form has also been apparent for other European heavyweights including Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.
Signing Hakimi in Career Mode may prove to be quite difficult given his justifiably high price tag. If you can find a whopping £115.1 million in the transfer budget, you can prise the incredible 22-year-old from the French capital and enjoy the talent of one of football’s burgeoning superstars.
Ruan (68 OVR – 71 POT)
Team: Orlando City
Age: 26
Wage: £3,000 p/w
Value: £1.3 million
Best Attributes: 94 Sprint Speed, 91 Acceleration, 84 Agility
Brazilian Ruan is one of the fastest defenders on the planet and he’s been showcasing his blistering pace ever since he signed for Floridian outfit Orlando City in 2019.
He may not be one of the most well-rounded right backs on this list, but there aren’t many who can keep up with him as he’s one of the fastest in his position with 94 sprint speed and 91 acceleration to his name.
Initially, the rapid right back plied his trade in the Brazilian Serie B before Orlando City swooped on him for an undisclosed fee. It will only cost you £2 million to trigger his release clause, but if you do sign him don’t expect him to develop into an elite defender as his ceiling is capped at just a 71 potential.
Luis Advíncula (75 OVR – 75 POT)
Team: Boca Juniors
Age: 31
Wage: £13,000 p/w
Value: £3.5 million
Best Attributes: 93 Sprint Speed, 93 Acceleration, 90 Stamina
In what can only be described as a nomadic career, Luis Advíncula has played in a whole host of leagues where he’s operated as a speedy and dynamic full back.
At 31 years old most footballers’ physical attributes begin to diminish. However, the Peruvian has bucked this trend and boasts an outstanding 93 sprint speed and acceleration, which is testament to his excellent conditioning; conditioning that is highlighted by his 90 stamina.
The journeyman has played across many leagues in eight different countries over a thirteen-year career and if you’d like to add your club onto this extensive list then you’ll need to part with £4.9 million. Advíncula is entering the final stage of his career, so don’t count on him being your long-term right back option.
Aurélio Buta (71 OVR – 85 POT)
Team: Royal Antwerp FC
Age: 24
Wage: £13,000 p/w
Value: £4.7 million
Best Attributes: 94 Acceleration, 92 Sprint Speed, 91 Jumping
Currently tearing it up in Belgium’s top tier, Aurélio Buta is a speedster who can do a job at right midfield as well as his preferred right back, which only adds to his appeal as a potential signing.
The Portuguese man is quick off the mark as shown by his 94 acceleration, and his top speed isn’t bad either with 92 sprint speed too. Technically and mentally Buta is competent with very few holes in his game, but it’s definitely his physicality that sets him apart from other right backs.
A former Benfica prospect, Buta has nailed down the right back spot for Royal Antwerp and it’s surely just a matter of time before he leaves for a team in one of Europe’s biggest leagues. If you want this well-rounded full back in Career Mode, he’ll only set you back £7.4 million.
Manuel Lazzari (81 OVR – 81 POT)
Team: Lazio
Age: 27
Wage: £55,000 p/w
Value: £21.5 million
Best Attributes: 93 Acceleration, 92 Sprint Speed, 89 Balance
Capable of playing anywhere on the right flank from right back to right wing, Lazzari has built his reputation on being a very dangerous attacking wing-back who has an eye for an assist in the Italian top tier.
An energetic and mobile wing-back, the Lazio man has been given 93 acceleration and 92 sprint speed in FIFA 22 which is no less than he deserves if you’ve seen him play in the blue of Lazio or Italy. Don’t forget to make the most of his delivery into the area if you use him in-game – 83 crossing suggests that he’ll be a serious threat from the right wing.
SPAL sold Lazzari for just over £12 million after a classy debut season in Serie A in 2018/19. Lazio have since been rewarded with quality attacking and defensive performances and last campaign he scored twice and set up a further six goals in 32 Serie A outings. If you’re looking for a true right wing-back in Career Mode, look no further than Manuel Lazzari.
DeAndre Yedlin (73 OVR – 73 POT)
Team: Galatasaray
Age: 27
Wage: £32,000 p/w
Value: £2.5 million
Best Attributes: 93 Acceleration, 92 Sprint Speed, 92 Jumping
Once considered to be one of the hottest right back prospects in the world, DeAndre Yedlin’s career has not quite lived up to the hype which followed his first signing for Spurs from MLS side Seattle Sounders in 2014, but he has still enjoyed a terrific international career and a solid Premier League career aged only 27.
Known primarily as a speedster, Yedlin has consistently been given a high pace rating in FIFA and FIFA 22 is no exception. 93 acceleration and 92 sprint speed emphasise this part of his game which will be on full show in Turkey during the 2021/22 season.
Capped 67 times by the USA, Yedlin is something of a national footballing icon after debuting for the national side as a promising 20-year-old whilst playing in the MLS. If you want him to be an icon for your side in Career Mode you’ll need to spend £5 million, which is a fair price for a full back of his caliber.
Kyle Duncan (72 OVR – 78 POT)
Team: New York Red Bulls
Age: 23
Wage: £4,000 p/w
Value: £3 million
Best Attributes: 91 Sprint Speed, 90 Acceleration, 89 Jumping
The second American right back on this list, Duncan offers great defensive versatility for managers who want a utility full back. He’s at home on the left side of a back four in addition to his natural position of right back, and also possesses that all-important turn of foot.
That pace is rated at 91 sprint speed and 90 acceleration which is more than enough to keep opposition attackers at bay. At 23 years old you can expect to see Duncan develop his technical and mental attributes, but he may also get quicker as the save progresses and he reaches his billed 78 potential.
The New York Red Bull has spent his entire professional career at the club, but if you can convince the born and bred New Yorker to leave the Big Apple once you activate his £5 million release clause, he could be a very handy and versatile defender in your squad.
