Genshin Impact Update 1.3: What You Need to Know About the Lantern Rite Event

Arriving with the All That Glitters update, it’s now time to make your way through the Lantern Rite event.

In the latest update for Genshin Impact, ‘All That Glitters,’ Liyue Harbor has become a beautiful sight.

Lanterns light up the streets and float in the sky. Colourful cloths and umbrellas decorate the streets. It is the biggest celebration in Teyvat, and with it, the new event Lantern Rite has arrived.

As of 18 February, the third and last act has been released, ‘Light Upon the Sea,’ which is running until 28 February.

At the start of the event, the ‘Invitation to Mundane Life’ wish banner was made available, enabling you to get the new five-star character, Xiao. Since 17 February, it has, however, been replaced with the ‘Dance of Lanterns’ wish banner. Hopefully, Xiao will be available again in the future.

How the Lantern Rite events work

Before you can take part in the event, you’ll need to meet a few requirements, as detailed below:

  • Be Adventure Rank 23 or higher;
  • Complete Chapter 1: Act 1, Of the Land Amidst Monoliths;
  • Complete Xiao’s story quest Alatus Chapter – Of the Land Amidst Monoliths is a pre-requisite to Alatus Chapter.

The event is divided into three acts:

  • Act 1: The Origin of the Lanterns
  • Act 2: Currents Deep Beneath the Lanterns
  • Act 3: Light Upon The Sea

During the event, you will learn more about how the people of Teyvat celebrate the Lantern Rite, and you’ll be able to obtain Primogems, Hero’s Wit, Mora, and other rewards. There’s also an opportunity to buy different rewards from the Xiao market.

Lantern Rite Tales

Upon completing the first act, The Origin of the Lanterns, you will gain access to the first part of the Lantern Rite Tales, where you can accept citizen requests to obtain rewards.

There are three parts to this, and while doing the requests, you will increase the Festive Fever level, for which level progression is required to unlock part two and part three of the Lantern Rite Tales.

Theater Mechanicus

Theater Mechanicus is a tower defence mini-game in which you have to defeat multiple waves of enemies before they reach and damage the Ley Line Monolith.

There are different stages with increasing difficulty and rewards here. Increase your Festive Fever to unlock more stages, and enjoy this fun mini-game solo or co-op!

Xiao Market

Right now, you can grab Peace Talismans as a reward from the Theater Mechanicus mini-game: use this currency to buy different items in the Xiao Market. It’s recommended that you get the Crown of Insight available in Xiao Market Stage 2 before you spend the currency on anything else in the market.

Stand By Me

During this event, you can pick up a four-star Liyue character by trading in 1000 Peace Talismans. So, use this opportunity to gain a new character, or further a character constellation.

Further additions to Genshin Impact

Along with the Latern Rite events that have arrived on Genshin Impact, there’s even more content to enjoy as a result of the 1.3 Update.

Story Quest: Dainsleif

A fun new quest that is now available permanently following the update is ‘Bough Keeper: Dainsleif.’ In this quest, you’ll meet the mysterious character Dainsleif. Through this story quest, you will get to know more about the character.

The Primo Geovishap

Primo Geovishap has arrived to Genshin Impact as a new elite boss. Defeat the mighty beast to get yourself the new character ascension material Juvenile Jade, which is required to level up Xiao.

Get yourself down to Teyvat and celebrate the Lantern Rite to unlock new characters, defeat a new boss, and complete some more quests.
