Genshin Impact Update 1.4: New Character, Monster, Events, and More Details

Genshin Impact’s 1.4 update is live, and with it, the Windblume Festival. Here’s everything that you need to know about the new content.

The big 1.4 update for Genshin Impact is here! It’s time to enjoy the event ‘Invitation of Windblume,’ which is also known as the Windblume Festival, taking place in Mondstadt. Along with the event, there are loads of other additions to the game, such as the new character, Rosaria.

While all of the content won’t be available immediately and will drop during the coming weeks, there is a lot to look forward to, like the new feature Hangout Events, where you can get to know more about characters like Barbara and Chongyun.

Something very exciting coming with Genshin Impact Update 1.4 is the new upcoming Archon Quest called ‘We Will Be United’.

As always, there have also been several bug fixes and tweaks to make the overall game better. So here, you’ll find all of the most noteworthy update details that have arrived with the Invitation of Windblume.

Hangout Events

This is the first series of a new permanent feature called Hangout Events. While these use Story Keys, they differ from the usual Story Quests. This first series includes four characters: Barbara, Noelle, Chongyun, and Bennett.

Each Hangout Event has multiple endings and uses two Story Keys to unlock. During the event, you will be picking dialogue options that decide the ending, which can be both good and bad.

For example, there are six possible endings when hanging out with Barbara. You can replay these to explore all of the different endings and will receive rewards regardless of the ending that you receive.

Introducing the new character: Rosaria

The Thorny Benevolence, Rosaria, is a new four-star character being released on 6 April through the Farewell of Snezhnaya wish banner.

Rosaria is a sister of the Church of Favonius in Mondstadt. Her vision is Cryo, and she wields a polearm. She is being voiced by Elizabeth Maxwell in English and Kakuma Ai in Japanese.

Below is a list of her skills:

  • Ravaging Confession (Elemental Skill): She shifts her position to appear behind the enemy and then pierces and slashes to inflict cryo damage upon the enemy. It can’t be used to shift behind larger enemies like Ruin Guards, though.
  • Rites of Termination (Elemental Burst): After swinging her weapon to slash nearby enemies, Rosaria summons an ice lance that strikes the ground, dealing cryo damage. The lance will periodically release bursts of cold air to deal cryo damage.
  • Regina Probationum (1st Ascension Passive): Upon unlock, Rosaria’s critical rate increases while attacking enemies from behind with Ravaging Confession.
  • Shadow Samaritan (4th Ascension Passive): Upon unlock, it increases the critical rate of nearby party members after releasing her Elemental Burst, Rites of Termination.
  • Night Walk (Utility Passive): Increases the movement speed of party members at night – between 6 pm to 6 am.

Windblume Festival

The flagship event of this update, the Windblume Festival, brings new mini-games and opportunities for us to learn more about Mondstadt’s citizens. Collect Festive Tour Tickers and Peculiar Collab Coupons to spend at the Event Shop to gain event-exclusive rewards.

During the festival, eight new world quests can be completed to get Mora, Character EXP materials, and more. You should note that these will only be available until the end of the event (5 April). To learn more about the Windblume Festival, check out our dive into the central Update 1.4 event.

Wishful Drops

An event separate from the Windblume Festival, this one centres on Oceanids. They have accidentally corrupted Mondstadt’s water supply, which the winemakers use. The Traveller will have to guide a small Oceanid to gather other Oceanids to solve the water problem. When you gather enough Oceanids in an area, you will receive a Heart of the Spring.

The Oceanid of Qingce, Rhodeia, returns with the Rhodeia’s Rage quest and is even more powerful than before. Take this challenge on alone or in co-op and attack Rhodeia head-on. One of the rewards is some Primogems, but to claim the rewards, you need to use Original Resin and Heart of the Spring.

Contending Tides

This is another new big event, taking the form of a set of arena-style challenges; the difficulty of the opponents increases with every challenge. It will require you to defeat all of the opponents and satisfy three other requirements to pass each challenge.

Examples of challenges are ‘Welcome to Easy Mode,’ ‘Low Electrolytes,’ ‘High Voltage,’ and ‘Art of the Cannonball.’ Every challenge will have three levels of difficulty: Normal, Hard and Extreme. Complete the challenges in every difficulty to earn all of the rewards.

Archon Quest and a new monster

This Archon quest will have the Traveller go with the Bough Keeper, Dainsleif, to a new domain to investigate the secrets of the Abyss. The quest will tell the story behind the Stormterror’s Ruin Guards.

It will also feature the Abyss Herald, a new boss using Tidal Blades that is said to crush armour and obliterate heretics. The Abyss Herald uses the Hydro element and is said to only be a story boss for now.

Update 1.4 Event Wishes

The update has started off with the wish Ballad in Goblets, making Venti available for a second time in the game since its release. The second wish will be the Farewell of Snezhnaya, coming back with Tartaglia (Childe), and will arrive on 6 April. The new character, Rosaria, will also be available in this wish.

All-new weapons will also arrive during the ‘Epitome Invocation’ Wish. These are the Elegy For the End (5-Star Bow), The Alley Flash (4-Star Sword), and Wine and Song (4-Star Catalyst). It has been confirmed by MiHoYo that the new bow, Alley Hunter, will be arriving in a future wish instead.

These have been the big updates from Update 1.4, so it’s time to go and enjoy the Windblume Festival. The other events will be going live in the coming weeks, and they all bring new exciting content and challenges.

The main question for you is: which character are you going to hang out with first? Whoever you pick, the new Hangout Event will let you get closer to the characters in the world of Genshin Impact.
