Grand Theft Auto 5 is a game filled to the brim with community-driven content. A substantial portion of the community scene is focused on modding the game’s files to produce unintentional results. Typically, mods are reserved for PC versions of games due to the closed ecosystem of most home consoles. The word typically is crucial here, as there are a few clever methods to get around this restriction.
GTA 5 Mods Xbox One: The PC Method
This method requires both a PC and Xbox copy of the game to function properly. Start by loading up GTA 5 on your computer. Close out of the game as you normally would, then immediately restart the application. If you do this step fast enough, the program will run in the background without a game window popping up. Make sure the app is running before you continue. Restart the process, if need be, by ending the GTA 5 task in your task manager.
Now, turn on your Xbox One and navigate to the settings. Under network settings, select manual in the DNS section. This will prompt you to enter two addresses. For the primary IPv4, type 202-121-85-190 exactly as you see written here. These numbers must be exact for this trick to work. For the secondary IPv4, input 8-8-4-4 into the text field. Launch GTA 5 on your Xbox One and note all the menu changes. These new menu options will allow you to enable and disable the various mods hosted on this IPv4 server.
GTA 5 Mods Xbox One: The Network Only Method
This method does not require a PC copy of the game, but limits the amount of mod options available to compensate. Make sure your copy of GTA 5 on Xbox One is closed and navigate to the settings tab. Under Network settings, select manual DNS once again. For the primary IPv4, enter 202-121-85-190 again. The secondary IPv4 is 8-8-4-4 yet again. Launch GTA 5 and you will notice a similar modding menu.
Avoid Getting Banned
While modding GTA 5 can be a lot of fun, it is not advisable to flaunt your extra capabilities in Grand Theft Auto Online. Anyone who sees you altering game files can report you for misconduct. Getting banned forfeits your account and all the progress you have made throughout San Andreas.
