The Hogwarts Legacy Crossed Wands student duelling is mentioned early on by Sebastian Sallow. He mentions it to your character after your first lesson in defence against the dark arts class where you learn the Levioso spell which pits you against him. Your character is later requested to speak with Lucan Brattleby by Professor Hecat as she recommends you hone your skills against other students.

The different stages of Crossed Wand duelling
Using the training dummy initially can help to string combos together with spells like Leviso and Accio combined with your Basic Cast. Before starting, you are asked if you would prefer to have a partner to duel with between either Sebastian or Natty or if you’re up for the challenge choose to go it alone.
The first Crossed Wand duel notice that your two opponents have Levioso shields which can only be removed by using the spell. Then you can take the attack to the vulnerable student. Dodging can be used to avoid certain attacks. Moreso, those with a yellow indicator can be countered with a Protego held to retaliate with Stupefy which is performed by holding Triangle or Y.
In the second battle, the three students have a mixture of Levioso shields and Accio. Hence, be sure to break their defences before pressing the attack. Using Levioso to make an opponent float can be incredibly useful as it leaves them vulnerable to attack. Accio can also be used in a similar way drawing opponents closer to disorientate them while attacking hard.
The third Crossed Wand battle incorporates Incendio adding it both offensively and defensively. The fiery spell can prove very effective when combined with Accio. Especially as the range of Incendio is relatively short. Hence, chaining Basic Cast in-between can make light work of the four opponents.

As mentioned above, the Hogwarts Legacy Crossed Wands duels incorporate quite a few spells you acquire in the early game. Also important to add that it forces you to utilize them all during battles. The key spells required to complete this questline are Levioso, Accio, and Incendio. You could also include Protego as well as Stupefy for a defensive approach.
