A thunderous slam over a defender is one of the best ways to pick up momentum in-game. Help propel your team to victory with these NBA 2K24 dunk guides:

How To Dunk in NBA 2K24

There are two ways players can dunk in NBA 2K. They can use these two methods:

    Button Dunking

On the PS5, press and hold the square button while simultaneously holding the R2 trigger. Press and hold the X button for Xbox users while keeping the RT trigger depressed.

    Stick Dunking

Another approach is to direct the right stick towards the basket while pressing down on the R2 or RT trigger, depending on your console.

How To Use The 2K24 Dunk Meter

The dunk meter is still present in NBA 2K24. It works the same way as the shot meter, where players must align their dunk or layup perfectly within a player’s green zone. Accurate timing is essential, just like every other finish in the game.

The size of the green zone fluctuates based on a player’s dunk rating and position. A better dunk rating and favorable position enhance the likelihood of executing the move successfully.

One obstacle to watch out for is when an opposing player guarding the paint challenges your attempt. Certain traits and specialties, such as Lob City Finisher or Fearless Finisher, provide players an extra edge when attempting dunks close to the basket.

Dunk Requirements You Need To Dunk In NBA 2K24

You’ll need to meet certain prerequisites to be able to dunk in 2K24. You can achieve these by spending VC or ensuring your player meets the essential criteria during creation.

    Pro Dunks:

Pro Contact Dunks: 84+ Driving Dunk and 70+ Vertical

Pro Alley-Oop: 70+ Driving Dunk and 60+ Vertical

Pro Bigman Contact Dunks: 80+ Standing Dunk, 65+ Vertical and at least 6’10”

    Elite Dunks:

Elite Contact Dunks: 92+ Driving Dunk and 80+ Vertical

Elite Alley-Oop: 85+ Driving Dunk and 60+ Vertical

Elite Bigman Standing Contact Dunks: 90+ Standing Dunk, 75+ Vertical and at least 6’10”

    Small Dunks:

Small Contact Dunks: 86+ Driving Dunk, 85+ Vertical and under 6’5″

High-level dunking badges will boost your chances of executing a contact dunk. Elite finishers have a higher success rate of completing contact dunks, even when faced with defenders.

Players with pro or elite packages can initiate contact dunks but may struggle more against defenders possessing strong paint defense.

How To Do A Two-Hand Dunk

There are two ways to do a two-hand dunk: One is by pressing and holding the R2 or RT trigger while pushing the right stick toward the hoop as you sprint, and the other is by simply flicking the right stick upward.

The chance of making a two-handed dunk is higher during fastbreaks or when the lane is clear. Players with a high dunk and vertical ratings, such as LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Kevin Durant, to name a few, can dunk more easily than other players.

How To Do A Flashy Dunk

To execute a flashy dunk, press and hold R2 or RT while sprinting towards the hoop. For a one-handed flashy dunk, flick the right stick up twice. For a two-handed version, flick the right stick down, then up. Only players with the pro or elite dunk packages and the requisite dunk rating and vertical can perform these dunks.

The specific flashy dunk a player carries out is influenced by their height, rating, and court position at the time of the action. Players sprinting from the baseline will produce a sideline dunk, whereas those running from the wings will deliver a one-handed hammer.

How To Do A Dominant Strong Hand Or Off-Hand Dunk

Simply press down on R2 or RT and then flick the right stick either left or right while your player drives towards the paint. The dunking hand depends on the direction in which you flick the right stick.

Flicking the right stick to the left for a player’s weaker hand will lead to a weak-hand dunk. Regardless of whether it’s with their dominant hand or off-hand, the intensity and style of the dunk don’t affect its outcome. Completing the move will stylishly earn you two points.
