Modern Warfare 2 Capitol Building

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, one of the levels in the game takes place in Washington, D.C., and contains a mission in which the player must defend the United States Capitol Building from a Russian invasion. The Capitol building is under attack by Russian forces, requiring the player who is fighting as a U.S. Soldier to defend the building and its occupant. In an attempt to repel the invasion and capture a high-ranking terrorist, the U.S. soldiers employed intense combat and the use of various weapons and equipment to fight off waves of unrelenting enemy Soldiers.

In retaliation for an assumed assisted terrorist attack on a Russian airport, Russia invaded several parts of the United States, including Washington D.C. It all began when a Task Force 141 operative named Allen was tasked with penetrating the inner circle of Vladimir Makarov, a dangerous former associate of Zakhaev who arms terrorists for money. However, while undercover, Allen participated in a terrorist attack by Makarov at a Russian airport where countless innocent people were killed. After the attack, Makarov killed Allen because he knew his true Identity from the very beginning. It was later discovered that the whole idea of Makarov attacking the Russian airport was to leave Allen’s body behind, knowing that the Russian Ultranationalist government would logically blame the United States and prepare to go to war.

Things went according to his plans as Russia invaded several parts of the United States, including the Capitol, in response to the attack on their airport because they believed the U.S. played a role.

The Russian Military force took control of much of the Eastern seaboard of the United States, including the Capitol. As they invaded the Capitol, the main priority of the U.S. forces was to evacuate as many civilians and wounded soldiers as fast as possible, then reassemble and retake the city to begin their counter-offensive.

Meanwhile, Hunter Two-One of the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, led by Sergeant Foley is tasked with rescuing a very important person known as Raptor from his crashed helicopter in an unnamed suburb of Virginia. Raptor was seen unconscious in his suit and tie around his crashed helicopter that has the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 23rd Infantry Division of the United States Army on its nose. Although never identified as such in the game, it is supposed he is a high-profile government official. At a point in the mission, the player will have to defend Sergeant Foley as he carries Raptor to a meat locker for protection, which was made inaccessible for the rest of the level after it was locked.

Back at the Capitol, things became more bloody. Soldiers were wincing in pain and had their faces covered in blood. Victims grunted, screamed, and coughed in their blood. It may not be realistic, but it is a brutal, tragic, absolutely terrifying, and haunting scene.

The Russians were able to overrun the defenses of the U.S. soldiers and civilians needed to pick up guns to fight. It’s a very emotional level and the cinematography, effects, and music will help evoke the emotion you cannot explain as you play the game.

In the end, the United States was able to regain control of the Capitol due to home-ground advantage, but the civilians arming themselves will give you a feeling of the devastating situation.
