FIFA 23 marks the end of a 30-year partnership between FIFA and EA as subsequent editions of the game are set to be called EA Sports FC. FIFA is set to create their own game.
Hence, the farewell edition delivers a host of new additions and tweaks to FIFA 23, with one of the most notable differences being the presence of new teams and leagues.
FIFA 23, therefore, sees some iconic clubs return to the EA Sports franchise for their biggest year with more official licenses than ever featuring 700 teams from more than 30 leagues.
Yet, some clubs have disappeared from the previous edition or are going by a new name such as the long-awaited return of Juventus, who were previously known as Piemonte Calcio when they were licensed by Konami. Meanwhile, the Japanese J-League and Mexican Liga MX are no longer part of the EA’s licensed leagues.
Elsewhere, women’s football has a more significant presence in FIFA 23 with the Women’s Super League, D1 ARKEMA (French women’s league), and Serie B joining the game for the first time.
The English fifth division will also feature as clubs in the Vanarama National League will now be playable as well as every national team that qualified for the 2022 World Cup.
