While Fire-types have always represented a starter choice – outside of Pokémon Yellow – the type hasn’t be as numerous as its fellow starters Grass and Water. The same holds true in Paldea for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet where both Grass and Water outnumber the Fire-type Pokémon native to Paldea.

This isn’t to say that there are no good options for Fire-type Pokémon beyond the starter. It’s just that there are a limited number of options for the type. Still, having a Fire-type Pokémon in your party has generally been a good rule to follow.

The best Fire-type Paldean Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet

Below, you will find the best Paldean Fire Pokémon ranked by their Base Stats Total (BST). This is the accumulation of the six attributes in Pokémon: HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. Each Pokémon listed below has at least a 486 BST. However, there aren’t many Fire-type Paldean Pokémon with a high BST.

The list will not include legendary, mythical, or Paradox Pokémon. This includes one of the four 570 BST hyphenated legendary Pokémon, Chi-Yu (Dark and Fire).

1. Skeledirge (Fire and Ghost) – 530 BST

Skeledirge is the final evolution of the Fire-type starter Fuecoco. Fuecoc evolves at level 16 to Crocalor and at level 36 to Skeledirge. Skeledirge is the slowest of the final starter evolutions, but the best special attacker among them. It has 110 Special Attack, 104 HP, 100 Defense, 75 Attack and Special Defense, and 66 Speed. While it’s great at special attacks, its more apt to take on physical attackers both because of its high Defense and because most physical attackers have low Special Defense.

Skeledirge holds the usual Fire-type weakness of Ground, Rock, and Water. Its Ghost typing also adds weaknesses to Dark and Ghost. However, as a Ghost-type, it is immune to Fighting and Normal though it will need an identifying move of its own to hit Normal-type.

2. Armarouge (Fire and Psychic) – 525 BST

Armarogue and Ceruledge are version exclusives with the former in Scarlet and the latter in Violet, both an evolution of Charcadet. Armarougue.is the special attacker of the two with 125 Special Attack, 100 Defense, 85 HP, 80 Special Defense, 75 Speed, and a low 60 Attack. It would be best to try and stack up its move set with special attacks.

Armarogue holds weaknesses to Ground, Rock, Ghost, Water, and Dark. Armarogue is also a tricky evolution as you’ll need to trade in ten Bronzor Fragments for the Auspicious Armor in Zapapico. Give the item to Charcadet, and it will evolve into Armarogue.

3. Ceruledge (Fire and Ghost) – 525 BST

Ceruledge is the Violet version evolution of Charcadet. It is the physical attacker of the two with 125 Attack, 100 Special Defense, 85 Speed, 80 Defense, 75 HP, and a low 60 Special Attack. Unlike Armarogue, you’ll probably want to have mostly physical attacks in Ceruledge’s move set.

Ceruledge holds the same dual-typing as Skeledirge and thus, the same weaknesses with Ground, Rock, Water, Dark, and Ghost. It holds an immunity to Fighting and Normal with an identifying move needed to land a Ghost attack on a Normal-type Pokémon. Ceruledge needs the Malicious Armor, which can be traded for ten Sinistea Chips in Zapapico.

4. Scovillain (Grass and Fire) – 486 BST

Scovillain also made the list for best Grass-type Paldean Pokémon, though also near the bottom. Scovillain is unique in that it is the only Pokémon that is Grass- and Fire-type. Scovillain is purely an attacker of both varieties. It has 108 Attack and Special Attack. However, the other attributes aren’t as alluring with 75 Speed and 65 HP, Defense, and Special Defense.

However, it’s unique typing makes it only weak to Flying, Poison, and Rock. It reverts the weaknesses of Ground, Bug, Fire, Water, and Ice to normal damage. Scovillain could become a nice addition to your team.
