UFC 5: Full Game Review – Is it Worth it?

UFC 5 has landed, and it’s making waves. Released on October 27th for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game takes realism to a new level. With 64,000 facial injury combinations and specific icons for injuries like loss of vision or difficulty breathing, UFC 5 aims to immerse players in the fight.

The game also introduces an Online Career Mode, where evolution points can be earned to improve custom fighters. However, it’s not all smooth sailing. The game has its share of glitches, including Rubber Banding and random round restarts, which have left the community divided.

What’s Best this Time in UFC 5

The latest iteration of the UFC video game series brings with it a host of new features and improvements that are set to redefine the virtual combat experience.

From enhanced gameplay mechanics to more realistic visuals, UFC 5 offers a deeply immersive fighting experience.

    Gameplay Mechanics

UFC 5 introduces an Online Career Mode, a first for the series. In this mode, players can earn evolution points to improve their custom fighter’s attributes. This adds a progression element to the online experience, making each fight more meaningful.

The submission system in UFC 5 has also seen a revamp. Gone are the mini-games from UFC 4. The new system is more unpredictable, making each submission attempt a high-octane experience. This change has been welcomed by players who found the previous system too predictable.

    Training and Practice Mode

Fight Contracts Mode serves a dual purpose. It’s both a training ground and a way to earn in-game currency. This mode generates matchups with multiple fighters from the UFC 5 roster, allowing players to practice and earn coins for in-game items like new outfits or emotes.

The game’s visuals have seen significant improvements. The pre-fight walkouts and post-fight announcements are more animated, adding to the overall atmosphere. The new damage system is another highlight.

Icons appear under your health bar to indicate specific conditions like loss of vision or difficulty breathing, which directly affect your fighter’s performance.

    What Can Be Improved

UFC 5 marks a significant step forward in the franchise, yet there’s room for refinement. Addressing the community’s feedback can help in ironing out imperfections and enhancing the overall fidelity of the game.

    Bugs and Technical Issues

While UFC 5 has a lot to offer, it’s not without its flaws. Players have reported various bugs that disrupt the gameplay experience. One such issue is Rubber Banding, where the opponent is flung across the octagon after getting kicked. This glitch can be game-breaking and needs immediate attention.

Another problem is the random round restart glitch, which can turn the tide of a match unexpectedly. These issues have been a point of contention within the community and need to be addressed for a smoother experience.

    Gameplay Balance

Some moves are considered too strong, disrupting the balance of fights. The community has been vocal about these issues, calling for adjustments to make the gameplay more fair.

    Community-Requested Features

The community has expressed a desire for a more challenging and engaging submission system. Addressing this could make the game more appealing to both casual and dedicated players.

    Final Verdict

UFC 5 brings a lot to the table with its focus on realism, new gameplay mechanics, and multiple modes. However, it’s not without its drawbacks. Bugs and balance issues have been a point of contention, and there’s room for improvement in areas highlighted by the community. On the scale of 1 to 5, we can say UFC 5 wins 4.5 points since it stands still on all aspects. The game could have been free from bugs and issues and probably will get free – the only reason we took away 0.5 points.

When it comes to choosing an edition, the Deluxe offers more but at a higher price. Your decision should hinge on how deeply you wish to dive into the UFC 5 experience. Overall, the game offers a compelling package that could become exceptional with some tweaks.
