Alphonso Davies (84 OVR – 89 POT)

Alphonso Davies is undoubtedly the best Wonderkid at Left Back in FIFA 23. Despite the youngster already boasting of an incredible 84 OVR, with a potential to get up to 89 POT, it’s amazing to think that his impressive stats can improve even further.
Davies is one of the fastest players in the Bundesliga and this is clearly shown in his 96 Acceleration and 93 Sprint Speed. Given such stats, it is not surprising how the 21-year-old has been able to breeze past wingers and fullbacks. To top it off, he also possesses 87 Dribbling. So, not only is he a blur down the left, he has fantastic control with the ball at his feet. Davies has a 4-Star Weak Foot and 4-Star Skill Moves, making it possible to terrorize the opposing right sided players at will.
The 21-year-old Ghana-born Canadian is part of the intense FC Bayern München side who have a superstar in every position and Davies certainly fits that mould. The African speed-star joined the Bundesliga champions in 2019 from Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps FC for a fee of £9 million. During his relatively short stint in Germany so far, he has won every club competition with Bayern and also featured in the 2020 Champions League Final demolition of FC Barcelona 8-2. Last season saw Davies side-lined for a large spell of the season but he still managed to make 31 appearances across all competitions creating three chances for his teammates. There are high expectations that he will blend well with Bayern this season. On the international stage, Davies has made 32 appearances for Canada and has scored 12 goals during that time.
Nuno Mendes (80 OVR – 88 POT)

Nuno Mendes is another speed demon who plays for the French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain. He currently prides of an outstanding 81 OVR and can further improve to 89 POT.
The 20-year-old Portuguese international stands out with some brilliant attributes like 90 Acceleration and 89 Sprint Speed, which makes going past his opponents look effortless. As icing to the cake, his 82 Balance makes him more stable during those shoulder-to-shoulder challenges. Other stats of note are his 81 Agility, 79 Ball Control and 78 Crossing.
Mendes was part of the setup at Les Parc des Princes joining from Portuguese side Sporting CP initially on loan which was then made permanent in a deal worth a combined £38.3 million. Last season the 20-year-old totalled 40 appearances for the French champions, contributing three assists. For the Portuguese national side he has made 16 appearances and will hope to rev up that number during this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
Ryan Aït-Nouri (76 OVR – 83 POT)

Rayan Aït-Nouri is a talented youngster currently playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers with a fantastic 76 OVR which can rise to his 86 POT, making him a valuable investment to any side.
Aït-Nouri is equipped with some decent stats, most notably his 78 Acceleration and when paired with his 78 Dribbling, could make for a fullback or wingback with a potential of being a threat down the left. He also shows impressive tackling ability with both 77 Standing and 74 Sliding, making him a great deterrent to oncoming opponents. Going forward, his 75 Crossing could cause problems and create clear-cut opportunities for teammates.
The 21-year-old Frenchman joined Wolves on an initial loan deal from Angers SCO but went on to make the move permanent for the sum of £9.99 million back in July 2021. The young left back made 27 first team appearances for Wolves last season across all competitions scoring one goal and providing six assists. Though Aït-Nouri is yet to be called to the French first team, he has featured at U21 level five times.
Luca Netz (73 OVR – 83 POT)

The 19-year-old German was part of the Hertha BSC academy before signing for the Foals in a deal worth £1.8 million. Last campaign saw Netz making 27 first team appearances, scoring one goal and providing five assists. The young left back has featured for the German U21 side on five occasions and will hope to push into the first team in the coming years.
Piero Hincapié (78 OVR – 85 POT)

So far in the 20-year-old international career, he has made 21 first team appearances for Ecuador, netting one goal.

Dest made his debut into the Serie A champions, AC Milan, on loan from FC Barcelona. The American proves to be an exciting fullback that can play on either flank with a brilliant 77 OVR which can improve to 85 POT, making a solid option.
Dest’s most impressive attributes are his 89 Acceleration, 88 Agility and 83 Dribbling, which rounds him up as a versatile defender that will always keep the opposition guessing. The American international also has 82 Short Passing and 74 Crossing which could make him a threat as he lunges in the attack.
The 21-year-old finds himself in Italy this season after spending last season with his parent club FC Barcelona, where he made 21 appearances and assisted three goals. He joins the Rossoneri on loan where he will hope to have a positive impact at the San Siro and push them to more victories this season. The versatile fullback has appeared 17 times for the American national side and scored two goals.

Brentford’s Aaron Hickey is a versatile option with a bankable attributes. With his 75 OVR and a possibility of boosting up to 85 POT, he makes for a juicy buy given his modest current value.
Hickey currently packs a punch in terms of attributes. One of his main strengths is his 79 Acceleration as well as his 75 Sprint Speed which allow him to fly past his opposition. He also has 81 Stamina that ensures he can keep it going for 90 minutes at that top pace. Other areas of note are his 75 Ball Control and 74 Dribbling which work very nicely together to make him a well-rounded defender.
The 20-year-old Scotchman started his career in his homeland, playing for Hearts and Celtic. He would end up progressing to Italy with Bologna and finally making a stop to the UK with Brentford this summer in a £14.85m transfer deal which could yet rise to £18m with add-ons. Last season, he made 36 Serie A appearances for Bologna, scoring five goals and assisting one. For Scotland, Hickey has been capped seven times so far.
