In Matchpoint – Tennis Championships, you can face your friends – both online and locally – and the CPU with some notable names in professional tennis. On the men’s side, there are 11 competitors you can choose from, not including the two purchasable legends in Tommy Haas of Germany and Tim Henman of the United Kingdom.
Below, you will find a list of all 11 competitors in alphabetical order by last name. Unlike most other sports games, there is no overall rating associated with each competitor.

1. Carlos Alcaraz

Nation: Spain

Top Attributes: 90 Forehand, 85 Power, 85 Fitness
Carlos Alcaraz is the youngest player in the game at only 19-years-old. Even at 19, the young Alcaraz already has astounding attributes in Matchpoint. His 90 Forehand, coupled with a 84 Backhand, make him a solid striker of the ball. He is solid all around with his 85 Power and Fitness, 84 Serve, and (a bit low) 79 Volley. Keep him in places where you can use the forehand, especially, and the backhand.
Alcaraz already has 65 career wins according to the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals). His win percentage is 74.7. Alcaraz also possesses five singles titles. He is currently ranked 7 in the world with a career mark of 6 earlier in 2022.
2. Pablo Carreño Busta

Nation: Spain
Handedness: Right
Top Attributes: 93 Fitness, 89 Forehand, 85 Power
Pablo Carreño Busta is a solid player whose attributes only have a 13-point disparity. He’s a fiend with 93 Fitness, making one of the quicker players in the game. He pairs that well with a 89 Forehand and 85 Power, giving him zip when he strikes the ball. He also has 84 Backhand, making him good there, along with 83 Serve and 80 Volley. Aside from his Fitness, he doesn’t stand out in any area, but he also doesn’t suffer in any area as well.
Busta has 248 career wins according to the ATP with a win percentage of 55.6 percent. The soon-to-be 31-year-old has six career singles titles. He’s currently ranked 20 with a career mark of 10 several times.
3. Taylor Fritz

Top Attributes: 90 Forehand, 90 Serve, 88 Power
Taylor Fritz has good attributes that may be a bit disparate from his career marks. He has 90 Forehand and Serve, coupling those with 88 Power to really put some speed on his strikes. He has 85 Fitness for good speed, 84 Backhand to pair well with his forehand, and 80 Volley (you’ll find not many players in Matchpoint have high ratings in Volley).
Fritz has 156 career wins with a win percentage of 54.0. The 24-year-old Fritz has three career singles titles. Friz is currently ranked 14 in the world with a career mark of 13 earlier in 2022.
4. Hugo Gaston

Nation: France
Handedness: Left
Top Attributes: 95 Fitness, 82 Volley, 80 Forehand
The Frenchman Hugo Gaston is the rare player in Matchpoint who excels in one attribute to the detriment of the others. Gaston has the highest Fitness attribute in the game at 95. He can fly around the court and will not tire. However, his second-best attribute Volley at 82. His Forehand is 80 and Backhand 79. Along with 79 Power, this means his Forehand and Backhand will at least hit similarly. However, his Serve is 75, so you’ll need to be strategic in your serve placement.
The 21-year-old Gaston is early in his career with 20 career wins and a win percentage of 45.5. He has yet to win a singles title in his career. He is currently ranked 66 with a career mark of 63 earlier in 2022.
5. Hubert Hurkacz

Hubert Kurkacz is one of the stronger players in the game with attributes that only have a seven-point disparity. He has 89 Fitness, 88 Backhand, 88 Serve, 85 Forehand, 85 Volley, and 82 Power. He’s as well-rounded as they come in the game. He doesn’t lack in any area and is an excellent choice for beginner players to familiarize themselves with the game.
The 25-year-old Kurkacz has 112 career wins with a win percentage of 55.7. He has five career singles titles. Currently, Kurkacz is ranked 10 with a career mark of 9 in 2021.
6. Nick Kyrgios

Nation: Australia

Top Attributes: 91 Forehand, 91 Serve, 90 Power
The enigmatic Nick Kyrgios, the face of Matchpoint, is one of the best players in the game. Aside from Volley (80), Kyrgios’ attributes are all in the high 80s or low 90s. He has 91 Forehand, 91 Serve, 90 Power, 88 Backhand, and 88 Fitness. Like Kurkacz, Kyrgios’ attributes make him a player that will help beginners become acclimated to the game.
Kyrgios has 184 career wins with a win percentage of 62.8. The 27-year-old Kyrgios has six career singles titles. He is currently ranked 40 with a career mark of 13 in 2016. At the time of publishing, Kyrgios is awaiting Novak Djokovic in the men’s finals of the Wimbledon Championships after his semifinals opponent, Rafael Nadal, had to withdraw due to injury.
7. Daniil Medvedev

Nation: Russia (unassociated in the game)
Handedness: Right
Top Attributes: 95 Serve, 91 Fitness, 90 Forehand
Daniil Medvedev is one of the top players in the world with attributes that reflect his prowess. He has the best serve in the game with 95 Serve. He also has 91 Fitness to provide quickness. He packs 90 in both Forehand and Backhand, coupling them with 85 Power. The Power and Serve attributes will make nailing aces simpler than with other players. He also has one of the higher Volley ratings at 85, making him adept at playing near the net as well.
The 26-year-old Medvedev has 249 career wins with a career win percentage of 69.6. Medvedev has 13 career singles titles, including winning the 2021 U.S. Open. Medvedev is currently ranked as the top men’s player in the world, holding the top ranking since the middle of June 2022.
8. Kei Nishikori

Nation: Japan
Handedness: Right
Top Attributes: 95 Fitness, 91 Forehand, 90 Backhand
The veteran competitor from Japan, Kei Nishikori is a solid choice in Matchpoint. He ties Gaston with the highest Fitness at 95. Nishikori also has incredible forehands and backhands with 91 Forehand and 90 Backhand. However, there is a bit of a drop after those three ratings in the 90s. He has 80 Volley and Power, but 75 Serve. You’ll need to be strategic with your serve placement with Nishikori as well.
Nishikori has 431 career wins with a win percentage of 67.1. The 32-year-old Nishikori has 12 career singles title. However, he has not won a Grand Slam event, but he did reach the finals of the U.S. Open in 2014. Nishikori is currently ranked 114 with a career mark of 4 in 2015.
9. Benoît Paire

Top Attributes: 90 Backhand, 86 Power, 85 Serve
Benoît Paire is another well-rounded competitor whose attributes don’t necessarily reflect his actual results. Paire has 90 Backhand and with 86 Power, he can smash backhand points past his opponents. He has a trio of attributes at 85 with Serve, Volley, and Fitness. His lowest attribute is Forehand at 80, but he should still be a good player to use in the game.
The 33-year-old Paire has 240 career wins with a win percentage of 45.7. He has three career singles titles. He’s currently ranked 73 with a career mark of 18 in 2016.
10. Andrey Rublev

Nation: Russian (unassociated in the game)
Handedness: Right
Top Attributes: 98 Forehand, 92 Power, 89 Fitness
Andrey Rublev has a wider disparity between his highest and lowest attributes, but that’s only because his Forehand in one point less than the max at 98! Even better, his Power is 92, making his forehand even better because of the speed he can put on balls. He also has 89 Fitness, so he can move pretty quickly. His Backhand and Serve are also good at 85, but like others, his Volley is low at 70.
Rublev has 214 career wins with a win percentage of 63.9. The 24-year-old Rublev has 11 career singles titles, but no Grand Slam championships. He is currently ranked 8 with a career mark of 5 in 2021.
11. Casper Ruud

Nation: Norway

Top Attributes: 91 Forehand, 90 Power, 89 Fitness
Casper Ruud rounds out the group of men’s players (non-Legends) in Matchpoint – Tennis Championships. Ruud has great attributes, topped by a 91 Forehand, 90 Power, and 89 Fitness. His Serve is 85, his Backhand is 84, and his Volley is 80. His power and forehand make him strong there, and he can pack a punch on serves with his power.
Ruud has 149 career wins with a win percentage of 64.8. The 23-year-old Ruud has eight career singles titles. He is currently ranked 6 with a career mark of 5 twice in June 2022.
