Here are the best Psychic-type Pokémon specific to Paldea in Scarlet & Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: Best Psychic-Type Paldean Pokémon

Psychic-type Pokémon have long been favored for their power, specifically with special attacks. From the Abra-Kadabra-Alakazam line to more recent ones like Munna-Musharna and Gothita-Gothorita-Gothitelle, or legendary Pokémon like Azelf, Mespirit, and Uxie, Psychic-type is a well sought after and respected type in Pokémon.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are no different as they introduce a few new Psychic-type lines. Having a strong Psychic-type in your lineup is generally a good idea as they have few weaknesses and are among the best special attackers in the series.

The best Psychic-type Paldean Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet

Below, you will find the best Paldean Psychic Pokémon ranked by their Base Stats Total (BST). This is the accumulation of the six attributes in Pokémon: HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. Each Pokémon listed below has at least a 470 BST.

It should be noted that most Psychic-type Pokémon are fiendish special attackers, but are weak physically both offensively and defensively. Psychic-type Pokémon hold weaknesses to Bug, Dark, and Ghost.

The list will not include legendary, mythical, or Paradox Pokémon.

1. Armarouge (Fire and Psychic) – 525 BST

Armarouge

Armarouge is the Scarlet version evolution for Charcadet. You’ll have to find ten Bronzor Fragments and then trade those in at Zapapico City for the Auspicious Armor. Use the item on Charcadet to have it evolve in Armarouge.

Armarouge is a special attacking physical tank. It has 125 Special Attack and 100 Defense. It’s good in the other areas except for having 60 Attack, but makes up for it with 85 HP, 80 Special Defense, and 75 Speed. Luckily, most of the best Fire and Psychic attacks are special attacks, helping you make the most of the same type attack bonus (STAB). Armarouge holds weaknesses to Ground, Rock, Ghost, Dark, and Water.

2. Farigiraf (Normal and Psychic) – 520 BST

Farigiraf

Farigiraf just missed the top spot, but tied for the top Paldean Normal-type Pokémon with Dudunsparce based on BST. The new evolution for Girafarig basically takes the head that was its pre-evolved tail and makes it sort of a hood on the now larger Farigiraf. To evolve Girafarig, level it up while it knows Twin Beams, level 32 being when it learns the move.

Farigiraf is a potent offensive Pokémon with 120 HP, 110 Special Attack, 90 Attack. It has 70 Defense and Special Defense, so it can hold its own a bit, but has 60 Speed, so it’s going to have to in order to make use of the high attack attributes. While it loses the weaknesses to Fighting, it retains weaknesses to Bug and Dark, though it’s immune to Ghost.

3. Espathra (Psychic) – 481 BST

Espathra

Espathra is the only pure Psychic-type on the list. Espathra appears to be a mix between an ostrich and Egyptian hieroglyphics. The Ostrich Pokémon evolves at level 35 from Flittle. Though it is a bird, it is a flightless bird and does not possess Levitate as an ability. The Pokédex says Espathra can sprint at speeds greater than 120 miles per hour.

Espathra, as its Pokédex entry suggests, is a fast Psychic-type Pokémon. It has 105 Speed, 101 Special Attack, and 95 HP. It has 60 in Attack, Defense, and Special Defense. Basically, hit hard and quick with special attacks or Espathra may not make it more than a few turns. It holds weaknesses to Bug, Ghost, and Dark.

4. Veluza (Water and Psychic) – 478 BST

Veluza

Veluza is a fish, cod maybe, that is a dual Water- and Psychic-type. It also placed on the Paldean Water-type list. It is a non-evolving Pokémon, a trait it shares with a few Paldean Water-type Pokémon.

Veluza is an attacker with 102 Attack and 90 HP. The other attributes have a tight distribution, but they’re relatively low with 78 Special Attack, 73 Defense, 70 Speed, and 65 Defense. Veluza holds weaknesses to Bug, Dark, Ghost, Grass, and Electric.

5. Rabsca (Bug and Psychic) – 470 BST

Rabsca

Rabsca also placed on the best Bug-type Paldean Pokémon list. The Rolling Pokémon is the evolution of Rellor. You have to walk 1,000 steps with Rellor in Let’s Go mode to evolve it into Rabsca. To enter Let’s Go mode, make sure Rellor is at the top of the party and hit R while in the overworld, where it will release and engage in auto battles.

Rabsca is a special attacker than can also function as a decent tank. It has 115 Special Attack, 100 Special Defense, and 85 Defense. However, for those tankish attributes, it only has 75 HP, 50 Attack, and 45 Speed. Unless you’re facing Snorlax, Slowpoke, Blissey, or the like, Rabsca will most likely suffer the first strike. Rabsca also holds the most weaknesses on the list with Flying, Rock, Bug, Ghost, Fire, and Dark. Now you know the best Psychic-type Paldean Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet. Which of these Pokémon will you add to your team?
