With a few changes to the combat dynamics and other aspects from previous Assassin’s Creed titles, you can find all of the default controls and a few tips to hit the ground running in your new Norse life.

How to customise and remap controls in AC Valhalla
If the default controller layout isn’t to your liking, you can completely customise the AC Valhalla controls by mapping each button.
- To customise controls go to the Pause Menu by pressing Options/Menu
- Press Left on the d-pad which will take you to the Main Menu.
- From the main menu, select Options and navigate to the Controller Tab using R1/RB.
- Scroll to Customise Controls under the Controller section
- Remap the buttons to suit your preferences.
How to manually save and load games in AC Valhalla
Saving Assassin’s Creed Valhalla whenever you want is very easy. Just head to the Main Menu from within the pause screen, and then select the ‘Save’ option.
To load a previously saved game, again, head to the Main Menu, select ‘Load’ and then choose the saved progress that you wish to load.
How Stamina works in AC Valhalla
The latest battle mechanic to enter Assassin’s Creed is Stamina. In Valhalla, your Stamina is represented by a bar on the HUD.
Keeping your Stamina up during a fight is paramount: depleting the bar will cause you to lose your ability to dodge attacks and protect yourself with your shield. Stamina depletes as you dodge or block enemy attacks with your shield. Performing unsuccessful light, heavy, and special attacks also consume Stamina.
Over time, your Stamina will replenish, but performing successful light attacks will increase the speed at which it refills. Using Abilities will regenerate all your Stamina.
As you can tell, the newly introduced Stamina mechanic will force a more tactical and methodical approach when it comes to engaging enemies of all levels, so be sure to manage the bar wisely.
