NBA 2K23: Top Dunkers

These are the best dunkers to use in NBA 2K23.

High-flying athletic dunks still get fans more excited than anything that happens in a basketball game. Having a great dunker is also something that teams love, as a dunk is the highest percentage shot you can take. Whatโ€™s more, it can help to space out the floor to later open up your shooters on the perimeter. No player can run through another, but a good dunker can go  straight over the top of a defender. The three-pointer might have grown increasingly popular over the past five or six years, but nothing beats the excitement of a posterizing slam dunk.

Here, youโ€™ll find all of the best dunkers in NBA 2K23.

5. Aaron Gordon (Dunk 95)

Overall Rating: 79
Position: PF/SF
Team: Denver Nuggets
Archetype: 2-Way Lob Threat
Best Stats: 95 Standing Dunk, 95 Driving Dunk, 95 Hands

Aaron Gordon has the most 50-point dunks on All-Star weekend in NBA history with eight. He lost in the Slam Dunk contest twice, but many people feel he should have won at least one of them. In only eight years, he has already solidified himself as one of the best dunkers of all time, and the sole blemish on his resume is his lack of a Slam Dunk crown. Gordon is no slouch on defense either with a B+ rating as a post and perimeter defender. He averaged 15 points, 5.9 rebounds, and shot 52% from the field in the 2021-22 NBA season.

4. Anthony Edwards (Dunk 95)

Overall Rating: 86
Position: SF/SG
Team: Minnesota Timberwolves
Archetype: Playmaking Slasher
Best Stats: 95 Driving Dunk, 98 Intangibles, 98 Shot IQ

Anthony Edwards refuses to enter the NBA Slam Dunk Contest but is a staple of highlight reels with his electrifying dunks. The former number one pick has a mind-blowing 41โ€ vertical leap and is fearless in driving to the basket and posterizing anyone in the way. At the point in a jump when most players would start descending, Edwards continues to elevate over defenders before they realize how much trouble they are in. His dunk over Gabe Vincent ranked near the top last year and didnโ€™t even count in the game. He is an extremely athletic player, though he could still improve on defense. During the 2021/22 NBA season, Edwards averaged 21.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.5 steals.

3. Zach Lavine (Dunk 95)

Overall Rating: 88
Position: SG/SF
Team: Chicago Bulls
Archetype: 2 Way All-Around Scorer
Best Stats: 95 Driving Layup, 95 Driving Dunk, 97 Vertical

Zach Lavine is tied with Jordan in second place when it comes to perfect scores in the Slam Dunk contest. Lavine has won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest twice, once as a rookie in the 2014- 2015 season when he became the second youngest winner behind Kobe Bryant, as well as the following season, when he beat out Aaron Gordon and became the 4th NBA player in history to win consecutive slam dunk contests. Lavine is an all-round great offensive player and his length makes him a solid defender, too. He was named an All-Star the past two seasons and averaged 24.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in the 2021-22 season.

2. Zion Williamson (Dunk 97)

Overall Rating: 87
Position: PF/C
Team: New Orleans Pelicans
Archetype: Physically Dominant Offensive Threat
Best Stats: 97 Driving Dunk, 99 Vertical, 98 Driving Layup

Zion Williamson is a monster dunker. He is 284 pounds but can jump as high and run as fast as nearly anyone else in the NBA. When Zion gains a head full of speed towards the rim, the best thing to do is get out of the way. Due to his weight and the subsequent force impact on his joints, he has been prone to injuries and has been sitting on the sideline in street clothes most of his career. The good thing about NBA 2K23 is that you can eliminate injuries and dominate the paint every game with him. Zion averaged 27 points, grabbed 7.2 rebounds, and shot an amazing 58% from the field in the 2020-21 season. He was recovering from a foot injury for the entirety of last season.

1. Ja Morant (Dunk 97)

Overall Rating: 93
Position: PG
Team: Memphis Grizzlies
Archetype: High Flying Slasher
Best Stats: 97 Driving Dunk, 90 Hustle, 98 Offensive Consistency

Ja Morant has an extremely high motor on the offensive side of the ball and shows no mercy towards any defender that dares to challenge him at the rim. He makes the highlight reel on almost a nightly basis, even for unsuccessful dunk attempts. Morant has a special quality about him that riles up his team after a jaw-dropping, posterizing dunk. In last year’s playoffs, his dunk over Malik Beasley is credited as the catalyst that pushed the Grizzlies to win the series. Morant is a great all-around offensive talent, although he could improve his shooting from behind the line. In the 2021-22 season, he averaged 27.4 points, dished out 6.7 assists, and shot 49% from the field.

Having a top tier dunker will ensure the opposing defense is forced to remain on their toes, since they canโ€™t crowd the premier and will always be wary of these types of players entering the paint. NBA 2K23 provides you with plenty of players with excellent dunking talent at every position, making it easy for you to add an extra string to your offensive bow.
