Will Need For Speed Payback be Crossplayable in 2023?

When Need For Speed Payback was originally developed by Ghost Games, they did not decide to make it a crossplay game. There was a fair amount of outcry from fans after its release, and the fans asked if Ghost Games would release a game update allowing for crossplay.

Alas, no such luck. Ghost Games was already working on the follow-up game, Need For Speed Heat – and that game does include crossplay ability. EA had made the announcement about Heat’s development during their January 2017 earnings call, and players were definitely excited for that release.

Ghost Games has gone on record to say that they have no intention of giving Payback crossplay at any point, so you won’t be seeing it in the near future. If you want to crossplay a Need For Speed Game, Heat is a great option with a lot of fun things to do with your friends.

Platforms you can play on

You can play Need For Speed Payback on a PC with a Windows operating system, on a PlayStation 4 or 5, or on the Xbox. You just can’t join a friend who is playing from a different platform. If you are both gaming on your respective PCs, you can play together in the game.
