Darío Sarmiento (107 CA / 166 PA)

Team: Manchester City (On Loan at Girona)
Age: 18
Current Ability / Potential Ability:
107 CA / 166 PA
Wage:
£15,000 p/w
Value: £17-22 million
Best Positions: AM LC
Best Attributes: 16 Composure, 15 Off The Ball, 15 Vision

Darío Sarmiento is the best Argentinian wonderkid in FM22. With his impressive 166 PA, he is part of a whole host of talent at Manchester City and could be tempted away if he’s unable to break into their first team.

Sarmiento has a lot of developing to do but still has some decent starting attributes. His 16 Composure, 15 Off The Ball and 15 Vision are all initial highlights, while he has some good physical attributes too with 14 Pace, 13 Acceleration and 14 Stamina. Comfortable on the left as a winger or in behind the frontman as a shadow striker, he could certainly be a star of the future.

The Manchester City youngster arrived at the Etihad from Estudiantes last summer in a deal worth £4.5m. Sarmiento then went out on loan to Spanish side Girona where he made nine appearances for La Liga 2 outfit. He has since gone on loan again to Uruguayan side Montevideo City Torque this season. Sarmiento has made six appearances for the Argentinian U16’s, scoring four goals.

Matías Soulé (97 CA / 160 PA)

Wage:
£1,800 p/w
Value: £800k-7.6 million
Best Positions: AM RC

Matías Soulé is part of the Juventus (Zebre) U23’s and has a fantastic 160 PA, though he has a lot of developing to do as evidenced by his 97 CA. With the right guidance and nurturing, however, he could be a star of the future.

Soulé has the bones of a good player but will need some time to develop. His standout attributes are his 14 Natural Fitness, 14 Acceleration and his 13 Crossing, abilities which, when put together, could make him a good winger who is able to go past defenders and whip a ball into the area to find a teammate. He also has 12 Technique, 12 Positioning, and 12 Off The Ball, which means Soulé is comfortable on the ball, and can find space in dangerous areas without the ball too.

Having arrived in Italy from Velez in January 2020, it’s early days for Soulé at Juventus. He has played most of his football for their U23’s side so far, making 40 appearances last season, scoring seven goals and getting seven assists. The 18-year-old managed to make two appearances for the first team and will hope to break into the side when the opportunity arises. Pérez has some brilliant starting attributes with the most prominent being his 17 Aggression, 17 Determination and 16 Bravery. These make him a player who is willing to get stuck in and is not one to shy away from challenge, and his Determination will aid him in reaching his 159 PA. Defensively, he has some good starting stats too with 14 Tackling, 14 Marking and 13 Heading, while his 12 Passing and 12 Vision could make him a decent ball playing defender.

Regular loanee Nehuén Pérez spent last season on loan at Serie A side Udinese where he made 22 appearances for the Italian side and registered one assist. Pérez is yet to feature for the Argentinian first team, but has seen call ups to the Olympic sides U17’s, U20’s, and U23’s.
