Argentina has had some incredible talent over many years, with a whole host of superstars from pretty much every generation.
The national side has boasted some of the world’s best players in recent years, including names like Agüero, Batistuta, Messi and many more. Below, we will look at some of the wonderkids with the highest Potential Ability (PA) to come from Argentina.
Choosing the best young Argentinian players on FM22
In this article we will look at the best wonderkids Argentina has to offer in FM 2022, with Nehuén Pérez, Darío Sarmiento and Matías Soulé being among the top wonderkids in FM22.
This list is focused on finding Argentinian players with a minimum Potential Ability of 145 and, to be in the bracket of wonderkid, will be a maximum age of 21.

Darío Sarmiento (107 CA / 166 PA)

Team: Manchester City (On Loan at Girona)
Age: 18

Best Attributes: 16 Composure, 15 Off The Ball, 15 Vision
Darío Sarmiento is the best Argentinian wonderkid in FM22. With his impressive 166 PA, he is part of a whole host of talent at Manchester City and could be tempted away if he’s unable to break into their first team.
Sarmiento has a lot of developing to do but still has some decent starting attributes. His 16 Composure, 15 Off The Ball and 15 Vision are all initial highlights, while he has some good physical attributes too with 14 Pace, 13 Acceleration and 14 Stamina. Comfortable on the left as a winger or in behind the frontman as a shadow striker, he could certainly be a star of the future.
The Manchester City youngster arrived at the Etihad from Estudiantes last summer in a deal worth £4.5m. Sarmiento then went out on loan to Spanish side Girona where he made nine appearances for La Liga 2 outfit. He has since gone on loan again to Uruguayan side Montevideo City Torque this season. Sarmiento has made six appearances for the Argentinian U16’s, scoring four goals.
Matías Soulé (97 CA / 160 PA)

Matías Soulé is part of the Juventus (Zebre) U23’s and has a fantastic 160 PA, though he has a lot of developing to do as evidenced by his 97 CA. With the right guidance and nurturing, however, he could be a star of the future.
Soulé has the bones of a good player but will need some time to develop. His standout attributes are his 14 Natural Fitness, 14 Acceleration and his 13 Crossing, abilities which, when put together, could make him a good winger who is able to go past defenders and whip a ball into the area to find a teammate. He also has 12 Technique, 12 Positioning, and 12 Off The Ball, which means Soulé is comfortable on the ball, and can find space in dangerous areas without the ball too.
Having arrived in Italy from Velez in January 2020, it’s early days for Soulé at Juventus. He has played most of his football for their U23’s side so far, making 40 appearances last season, scoring seven goals and getting seven assists. The 18-year-old managed to make two appearances for the first team and will hope to break into the side when the opportunity arises. Internationally, Soulé has featured twice for the Argentinian U20 side so far.
Nehuén Pérez (125 CA / 159 PA)

On loan at Udinese at the start FM22, Nehuén Pérez looks to be a sturdy centre back and has room for improvement with his 159 PA.
Pérez has some brilliant starting attributes with the most prominent being his 17 Aggression, 17 Determination and 16 Bravery. These make him a player who is willing to get stuck in and is not one to shy away from challenge, and his Determination will aid him in reaching his 159 PA. Defensively, he has some good starting stats too with 14 Tackling, 14 Marking and 13 Heading, while his 12 Passing and 12 Vision could make him a decent ball playing defender.
Regular loanee Nehuén Pérez spent last season on loan at Serie A side Udinese where he made 22 appearances for the Italian side and registered one assist. Pérez is yet to feature for the Argentinian first team, but has seen call ups to the Olympic sides U17’s, U20’s, and U23’s.
Elías Machuca (105 CA / 158 PA)

Playing for Racing Club over in Argentina, Elías Machuca has an impressive 158 PA but has a lot of developing to do to hit those heights.
The 18-year-old has a few good attributes for a player of his age. His 15 Work Rate makes him a grafter who will fight to win the ball back. Machuca also has 15 Decisions and 12 Positioning, which means he will make good choices when it comes to big moments in the game as well as being aware of where he is on the pitch and helping the side to keep its shape.
Elías Machuca is part of the youth setup at Racing Club and has made seven appearances for the Argentinian U16 side.
Luka Romero (106 CA / 158 PA)

Luka Romero plies his trade for Italian side SS Lazio in Serie A, and his 158 PA makes him a very attractive purchase for a relatively low fee.
Despite his young age, Romero has some amazing attributes, in particular his 18 Natural Fitness, 15 Determination and his 14 Flair, which makes him someone who can be relied upon in a heavy schedule to strive to reach his potential. He also has 13 Dribbling, 13 Technique and 12 Passing, attributes which work well together and could make him a fantastic inverted winger.
Romero started his career in Spain before arriving at SS Lazio, moving from RCD Mallorca B to Le Aquile for a fee of £180k. Last season, Romero made nine senior appearances for Lazio and four for the U19’s. For Argentina, he has turned out for the U15’s, U17’s and U20’s.
Julián Álvarez (138 CA / 157 PA)

21-year-old Julián Álvarez starts FM22 with River Plate over in Argentina and already looks like a quality player, but with a 157 PA he still has space to develop further and is available for a bargain price.
Álvarez has some terrific attributes right from the start, with his 17 Flair giving him lots of tricks and flicks, and his 16 First Touch allowing him to be in control of the ball when it is played into him. His 15 Long Shots mean he is a threat from range, while he also is dangerous from closer range with 14 Finishing. Pairing that with 13 Composure means that he is cool, calm and collected in front of goal. All of these attributes add up to what could be a world class advanced forward.
Álvarez signed for Manchester City in January this year for a fee of £15.3m and spent the remainder of last season on loan at River Plate. The 21-year-old played 26 games for River last season, scoring an amazing 18 goals and creating six more. On the international stage, Álvarez has earned nine caps and scored one goal so far but will hope to add to both in the upcoming World Cup.

Lanús’ versatile 18-year-old Julián Aude has a brilliant 154 PA, and already looks a decent player for a very affordable price.
Aude looks like he could slot straight into a lot of sides building for success, and his 16 Determination will only help him to improve and develop further. His 16 Tackling makes him a fierce defender when putting in challenges and his 16 Natural Fitness means that he can be relied on to be fit when there’s a densely packed fixture list. Other stand out attributes are 15 Work Rate and 15 Teamwork, which ensure he will give his all for the team.
Julián Aude is a product of the Lanús academy and has worked his way up through the youth ranks. The 18-year-old made 13 appearances for Lanús last season, scoring one goal in that time. Aude has represented Argentina at U16, U17 and U20 levels but is yet to break into the senior side.
