FIFA 20 Wonderkids: Best American & Canadian Players to Sign in Career Mode

There are some truly world-class talents emerging from the North American nations of Canada and the United States, many of which are proving to be wonderkids on FIFA 20.

Canada and the United States aren’t exactly known for their prowess on the football pitch – favouring other sports instead – but the nations appear to be coming around to the beautiful game. The MLS is going from strength-to-strength, with the United States Women’s National Soccer Team continuing to be the shining example of the sport on the North American continent.

Both
countries have produced great players in the past, such as Julian de Guzman,
Clint Dempsey, Dwayne De Rosario, Landon Donovan, Tim Howard, and Cobi Jones.
But now, both teams have many incredibly talented wonderkids making their way
to prominence in the sport all at once.

There’s a full slate of all of the best wonderkids from Canada and the USA in FIFA 20 at the foot of the article: those with the highest potential overall ratings feature in the main body of the article.

Choosing FIFA 20 Career Mode’s best Canadian and American wonderkids

The most
important aspect considered when picking the best Canadian and American
wonderkids in FIFA 20 Career Mode is the potential overall rating.

Those that
feature in the body of the article have the highest POT, with the others listed
in the table at the foot of the article having a potential rating of at least
81. All players in the article are 22-years-old or younger at the start of FIFA
20 Career Mode.

Alphonso Davies (OVR 73 – POT 88)

Team: FC Bayern Munich
Best Position: LW, LM, RM, RW
Age: 18
Overall/Potential: 73 OVR / 88 POT
Value (Release Clause): £7.5 million (£16.4 million)
Skill Moves: Four-Star
Best Attributes: 93 Acceleration, 87 Sprint Speed, 85 Agility

In January
of last year, Alphonso Davies accepted the call from one of Europe’s elite
clubs, Bayern Munich, who approached the Vancouver Whitecaps with a £9 million
offer for the Ghanaian-born Canadian.

Davies was
given a taste of the Bundesliga last season and at the start of this season, on
the wings. However, with David Alaba being shifted to centre-back and Lucas
Hernández suffering a long-term ankle injury, a space opened up at left-back,
which Davies has held ferociously since the end of October.

The Canadian
winger-turned-full-back has a fair overall rating of 73 and a hefty 88 POT, but
as he’s only 18-years-old at the start of Career Mode, he can be signed for
just over £16 million.

In FIFA 20,
Davies is already a solid choice with a high/high work rate, four-star weak
foot, four-star skill moves, 93 acceleration, 87 sprint speed, and 85 agility.

Jonathan David (OVR 76 – POT 88)

Team: KAA Gent
Best Position: LF, LS, CF, ST, RF, RS
Age: 19
Overall/Potential: 76 OVR / 88 POT
Value (Release Clause): £12 million (£20.7 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Attributes: 83 Sprint Speed, 82 Acceleration, 81 Stamina, 81 Composure

Jonathan
David might just be one of the most exciting and prolific young attackers in
the world right now. He’s already scored 19 goals and ten assists in 35 games
for KAA Gent this season, playing primarily from attacking midfield.

What’s most
impressive, however, is his international record. For Canada, David already
ranks eighth of all-time in goals for his country with 11 goals in 12 games. If
he keeps up his strike rate, he’ll have equalled the record by the time he’s
doubled his international cap count.

David is one of the best hidden gems in FIFA 20, with his strength and speed being the focus of his skill set at the start of Career Mode.

The
Canadian’s best attributes are his five-star weak foot, high/high work rate, 81
stamina, 80 jumping, 82 acceleration, 83 sprint speed, 79 agility, 80
finishing, 71 heading accuracy, 79 dribbling, and 81 composure.

Tyler Adams (OVR 76 – POT 86)

Team: RB Leipzig
Best Position: LDM, CDM, RDM
Age: 20
Overall/Potential: 76 OVR / 86 POT
Value (Release Clause): £10.5 million (£19.7 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Attributes: 86 Stamina, 84 Balance, 83 Jumping

In January
of last season, Tyler Adams moved from one Red Bull club to another, crossing
the Atlantic from the New York Red Bulls to play for RB Leipzig having notched
three goals and ten assists in 74 games for the American outfit.

Adams broke
into the RB Leipzig team immediately, taking up the starting defensive midfield
role, but then he suffered a lengthy injury. Injuries persisted into this
season until December, when Adams got his starting XI place back. That said, he
has since suffered another injury.

Despite his
middling overall rating of 76, Adams boasts a well-rounded set of attribute
ratings as well as high/high work rate.

The American
midfielder’s best attributes include his 84 balance, 83 jumping, 86 stamina, 79
agility, 74 interceptions, 74 defensive awareness, 77 short passing, and 76
standing tackle.

Weston McKennie (OVR 76 – POT 86)

Team: FC Schalke 04
Best Position: LCB, CB, RCB. LDM, CDM, RDM, LCM, CM, RCM
Age: 20
Overall/Potential: 76 OVR / 86 POT
Value (Release Clause): £11 million (£21.4 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Attributes: 92 Jumping, 83 Stamina, 83 Strength

Weston
McKennie flew over to Germany from the FC Dallas Academy way back in 2016 and
has since broken into the FC Schalke 04 first-team and staked a claim as a
regular in the starting XI.

Already with
78 games, two goals, and seven assists to his name for the Bundesliga club,
McKennie has played all over the park this season. The American has featured in
central midfield, at centre-back, in defensive midfield, and even on the right
side of midfield.

In Career
Mode, there are few other wonderkids who boast the power ratings of the 6’1’’
American. With 92 jumping, 83 stamina, 83 strength, 82 heading accuracy, and 82
aggression, McKennie is clearly best-suited to a role at centre-back in FIFA
20.

Christian Pulisic (OVR 80 – POT 86)

Team: Chelsea
Best Position: LW, LM, RM, RW
Age: 20
Overall/Potential: 80 OVR / 86 POT
Value (Release Clause): £18.5 million (£38.7 million)
Skill Moves: Four-Star
Best Attributes: 93 Acceleration, 87 Sprint Speed, 87 Agility

Borussia
Dortmund are well-known for producing wave after wave of wonderkids, with one
member from their latest batch being Christian Pulisic, who is originally from
Pennsylvania.

Having
tallied 19 goals and 26 assists in an astounding 127 games as a teenager for
BvB, Pulisic was proving himself to be a solid buy for Chelsea this season.
With six goals and six assists in 23 games for the new-look, youth-first squad
under Frank Lampard, the American was playing well, but an adductor injury
stopped the American’s progression.

Of all of
the Canadian and American wonderkids in FIFA 20, Pulisic is the most first-team
ready. He boasts an overall rating of 80 at the start of Career Mode, as well
as a decent potential rating of 86.

As far as
his best attributes go, Pulisic’s 86 dribbling, 83 ball control, 93
acceleration, 87 sprint speed, 87 agility, and 86 balance make him a real
weapon to have from the start of Career Mode.
