While the
country hosts what is hailed as the best and most competitive domestic league
in the world, England has struggled on the international stage through the
years.
That said, England has produced plenty of world-class talents, including the likes of David Beckham, Bobby Charlton, Peter Shilton, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Lineker, Paul Gascoigne, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Steven Gerrard, Bobby Moore, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, and John Terry.

Now we look
to the next crop of the best English wonderkids to sign in FIFA 20 Career Mode.
There’s a full slate of all of the best English wonderkids in FIFA 20 at the
foot of the article: those with the highest potential overall ratings feature
in the main body of the article.
Choosing FIFA 20 Career Mode’s best English wonderkids
The most
important aspect considered when picking the best English wonderkids in FIFA 20
Career Mode is the potential overall rating.
Those that
feature in the body of the article have the highest POT, with the others listed
in the table at the foot of the article having a potential rating of at least 84.
All players in the article are 20-years-old or younger at the start of FIFA 20
Career Mode.
Jadon Sancho (OVR 85 – POT 93)

Team: Borussia Dortmund
Best Position: LW, LM, LAM, CAM, RAM, RM, RW
Age: 19
Overall/Potential: 85 OVR / 93 POT
Value (Release Clause): £49.5 million (£94.1 million)
Skill Moves: Five-Star
Best Attributes: 92 Dribbling, 91 Agility, 90 Balance
Having been
in the Watford and then the Manchester City youth ranks, Jadon Sancho felt that he needed a challenge
that could soon lead to first-team football. So, he pulled a transfer to
Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga in the summer of 2017.
The move is
certainly paying off, with Sancho getting 21 games, five goals, and seven
assists in the 2017/18 season, and 13 goals with 19 assists in 43 games last
season. Now a bona fide England star, but still only 19-years-old, Sancho scored
14 goals and teed-up 15 more by his 26th game of this season.
With an
overall rating of 85, Jadon Sancho is already a great player to have on the
pitch in FIFA 20 Career Mode, but what makes him the best English wonderkid in
FIFA 20 is his massive 93 POT rating.
Sancho’s 92
dribbling, 91 agility, 90 balance, 89 acceleration, 88 ball control, 85 sprint
speed, 85 short passing, 85 vision, and 81 finishing already make the
Englishman worthy of his £49.5 valuation.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (OVR 84 – POT 89)

Team: Liverpool
Best Position: LWB, LB, RB, RWB
Age: 20
Overall/Potential: 84 OVR / 89 POT
Value (Release Clause): £33.3 million (£64.1 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Attributes: 92 Crossing, 87 Long Passing, 85 Stamina
Liverpool
are blazing their way to their first-ever Premier League title, with Trent
Alexander-Arnold at right-back being one of the most important features of the
go-to starting XI.
Alexander-Arnold
is superb on the ball, very fast, and puts in near-perfect crosses,
particularly from dead-ball situations. So far this season, the English
wonderkid has notched two goals and 12 assists through 32 games.
In FIFA 20, RB Alexander-Arnold’s best ratings perfectly reflect his current ability, with a 92 for crossing, 87 for long passing, 84 for short passing, and 83 for sprint speed.
The
Liverpool full-back boasts a high-medium work rate and a four-star weak foot
but, of course, the main appeal of signing Trent Alexander-Arnold is his epic
89 potential rating.
Phil Foden (OVR 77 – POT 89)

Team: Manchester City
Best Position: LW, LM, LCM, LAM, CM, CAM, RCM, RAM, RAM, RW
Age: 19
Overall/Potential: 77 OVR / 89 POT
Value (Release Clause): £14 million (£28.6 million)
Skill Moves: Four-Star
Best Attributes: 89 Balance, 87 Agility, 81 Short Passing
Pep
Guardiola has hailed him as the most talented player that he has ever seen, and
yet Phil Foden was only given eight starts by Manchester City’s 35th
game of the season.
Even in a
limited capacity, the 19-year-old Englishman has been quite impressive
alongside the star-studded outfielders of City, notching three goals and five
assists through 22 total appearances.
In FIFA 20
Career Mode, if you’re running a Champions League-grade club, you may have to
follow Guardiola and sit Foden on the bench most of the time, due to his 77
overall rating.
However,
when Foden is on the field, you can make the most of his 87 agility, 81 short
passing, 80 ball control, 77 acceleration, 80 ball control, 77 dribbling, and
74 long passing.
Callum Hudson-Odoi (OVR 74 – POT 88)

Team: Chelsea
Best Position: LW, LM, LAM, CAM, RAM, RM, RW
Age: 18
Overall/Potential: 74 OVR / 88 POT
Value (Release Clause): £10.4 million (£26.1 million)
Skill Moves: Four-Star
Best Attributes: 86 Acceleration, 85 Agility, 84 Sprint Speed
It’s
suspected that one of the reasons why Chelsea gave Maurizio Sarri the boot at
the end of last season was due to fans wanting a manager who would play the
up-and-coming stars, with the Hudson-Odoi to Bayern Munich transfer saga at the
heart of the cries to play youngsters.
Youth is
very much in revolt at Chelsea now, with Frank Lampard running the show and
giving players like Callum Hudson-Odoi, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, and Fikayo
Tomori plenty of game time.
An Achilles tendon
rupture held Hudson-Odoi out for the start of the season, but through 23
appearances since, he’s landed three goals and five assists.
At this
stage in Career Mode, Hudson-Odoi is all about speed. He boasts 86
acceleration, 85 agility, and 84 sprint speed, developing into one of the
fastest players in FIFA 20 over the next few seasons.
Mason Greenwood (OVR 70 – POT 88)

Team: Manchester United
Best Position: LM, LW, LAM, LF, CAM, CF, RAM, RF, RW, RM, LS, ST, RS
Age: 17
Overall/Potential: 70 OVR / 88 POT
Value (Release Clause): £3.2 million (£8.2 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Attributes: 79 Sprint Speed, 78 Acceleration, 78 Agility
He may have only
turned 18-years-old in October, but Mason Greenwood has muscled his way into
the first team of Manchester United, playing up top, just behind the striker,
and on the right-wing.
With plenty
of goals coming in the Europa League, Greenwood’s 11 goals and four assists in
31 games set the English wonderkid as the third-highest goal contributor by the
Red Devils’ 36th game of the campaign.
In FIFA 20
Career Mode, Mason Greenwood is still very green, without a single rating in
the 80s at the start of the game.
That said,
his 79 sprint speed, 78 acceleration, and 78 agility at 17-years-old show that
the young striker will eventually develop into one of the
fastest strikers in the game.
