FIFA 20 Wonderkids: Best German Players to Sign in Career Mode

Four-time winners of the World Cup, Germany has been one of the most consistent producers of top-class footballing talent over the years. This is the next class of German wonderkids to find in FIFA 20.

Germany is a
powerhouse of football, with what seems like an ever-flowing production line of
top-class young players.

The national
team has hosted some of the finest footballers ever to grace the pitch,
headlined by the likes of Miroslav Klose, Lothar Matthäus, Philip Lahm, Jürgen
Klinsmann, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Franz Beckenbauer, Oliver Kahn, and Gerd Müller.

Germany’s current national team boasts several future legends, such as
Manuel Neuer and Toni Kroos, but they are surrounded by a flurry of hot-shot mid-20-year-olds,
with even more on the way to the international scene.

There’s a full slate of all of the best wonderkids from Germany in FIFA 20 at the foot of the article: those with the highest potential overall ratings feature in the main body of the article.

Choosing FIFA 20 Career Mode’s best German wonderkids

The most
important aspect considered when picking the best German wonderkids in FIFA 20
Career Mode is the potential overall rating.

Those that
feature in the body of the article have the highest POT, with the others listed
in the table at the foot of the article having a potential rating of at least
83. All players in the article are 22-years-old or younger at the start of FIFA
20 Career Mode.

Kai Havertz (OVR 84 – POT 93)

Team: Bayer 04 Leverkusen
Best Position: LW, LM, LAM, LF, CAM, CF, RAM, RF, RM, RW
Age: 20
Overall/Potential: 84 OVR / 93 POT
Value (Release Clause): £43.5 million (£82.9 million)
Skill Moves: Four-Star
Best Attributes: 89 Sprint Speed, 87 Ball Control, 85 Dribbling

Still only 20-years-old, German wonderkid Kai Havertz has already
clocked in 130 games for Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

This season, Havertz has been deployed across attacking midfield, on
the right wing, and further back in the middle of the park, amassing five goals
and two assists through his first 25 games of the campaign.

In FIFA 20’s Career Mode, Havertz is one of the best wonderkids to
sign, let alone the best German wonderkid in the game. He’s incredibly
versatile and boasts a high overall rating across all attacking midfield
positions, forward positions, down either flank, and even in a striking role.

Havertz’s best attributes include his 89 sprint speed, 87 ball control, 85 dribbling, 84 composure, 84 curve, 84 short passing, 83 positioning, and 82 vision. The German midfielder is a key part of what is FIFA 20’s surprise package team.

Arne Maier (OVR 76 – POT 87)

Team: Hertha BSC
Best Position: LCM, LDM, CM, CDM, RCM, RDM
Age: 20
Overall/Potential: 76 OVR / 87 POT
Value (Release Clause): £12 million (£22.2 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Attributes: 81 Shot Passing, 78 Ball Control, 77 Long Passing

Two seasons ago, Arne Maier managed to lock down the starting defensive
midfield role at Hertha BSC, but injuries have hampered the German wonderkid’s
ascendancy a great deal.

Even this season, Maier has only mustered five starts due to a knee
injury. Since his first-team debut at the end of the 2016/17 Bundesliga
campaign, the defensive midfielder has only played 52 games for Hertha BSC.

Due to his injuries, Maier has a rather low overall rating of 76 OVR,
which has helped to keep his release clause relatively low at £22.2 million.

Even without many discernible high ratings – with the best being his 81
short passing, 78 ball control, and 77 long passing – Maier is still a top
German wonderkid to buy in Career Mode thanks to his 87 POT rating.

Florian Neuhaus (OVR 78 – POT 86)

Team: Borussia Mönchengladbach
Best Position: LCM, LAM, CM, CAM, RCM, RAM
Age: 22
Overall/Potential: 78 OVR / 86 POT
Value (Release Clause): £13.5 million (£25.7 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Attributes: 82 Vision, 82 Short Passing, 81 Ball Control

A relied-upon and versatile member of the Borussia Mönchengladbach
midfield, Florian Neuhaus has already been brought into the German national
team.

The 22-year-old is enjoying another solid season for Mönchengladbach,
notching two goals and two assists, through his opening 24 games of the season.

With a 78 overall rating, Neuhaus doesn’t appear to be a decent option
in a top-class starting XI, but his 82 vision, 82 short passing, 78 stamina, and
81 ball control make him a decent player to have in the middle of the park from
the start of a Career Mode.

Nadiem Amiri (OVR 78 – POT 85)

Team: Bayer 04 Leverkusen
Best Position: LM, LAM, CAM, RAM, RM
Age: 22
Overall/Potential: 78 OVR / 85 POT
Value (Release Clause): £13 million (£24.8 million)
Skill Moves: Four-Star
Best Attributes: 85 Dribbling, 82 Agility, 81 Ball Control

In the summer, Bayer 04 Leverkusen added to their incredibly talented
young ranks by bringing in Nadiem Amiri for £8.1 million from TSG 1899
Hoffenheim.

In his first season for Leverkusen, Amiri has clocked five assists
through 25 games, playing across the middle of the park and down the flanks.

Amiri boasts a decent potential rating at 85 POT and has many useable
attribute ratings in FIFA 20’s Career Mode.

From the start of a game, Amiri has 85 dribbling, 82 agility, 81 ball
control, 79 short passing, 78 vision, and 77 balance.

Maximilian Eggestein (OVR 79 – POT 85)

Team: SV Werder Bremen
Best Position: LCM, CM, RCM
Age: 22
Overall/Potential: 79 OVR / 85 POT
Value (Release Clause): £15.5 million (£29.1 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Attributes: 96 Stamina, 82 Ball Control, 81 Shot Power

Maximilian Eggestein has been a powerhouse in the SV Werder Bremen
midfield since he properly broke into the first-team ranks in 2016/17.

Since then, the German wonderkid has amassed 123 games, ten goals, and
14 assists with his incredible work rate bringing in interest from Europe’s
elite clubs.

In FIFA 20, Eggestein’s most eye-catching attribute rating at the start
of Career Mode is his almighty 96 stamina, which is bolstered by 82 ball
control and 80 short passing.

A 79 overall rating and 85 potential rating aren’t the biggest of the wonderkids
in the game, but the very favourable ratings at 22-years-old make Eggestein a
strong player to buy.
