FIFA 20 Wonderkids: Best Dutch Players to Sign in Career Mode

It seems like the Dutch are continually producing wonderkids in the Eredivisie these days: these are the best on FIFA 20.

The 1988
European champions, three-time World Cup runners-up, and inaugural Nations
League finalists boast an almighty crop of young stars right now.

The Netherlands
has been a notorious spawning ground for top-class talents over the decades,
headlined by the likes of Johan Cruyff, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Edwin van der Sar,
Clarence Seedorf, Wesley Sneijder, Phillip Cocu, and Patrick Kluivert.

The current
Dutch squad is filled with young talents and looks to be a real force on the international
scene in the years to come. This latest golden generation might just be able to
break the Netherlands’ trophy drought.

There’s a
full slate of all of the best wonderkids from the Netherlands in FIFA 20 at the
foot of the article: those with the highest potential overall ratings feature
in the main body of the article.

Choosing FIFA 20 Career Mode’s best
Dutch wonderkids

The most
important aspect considered when picking the best Dutch wonderkids in FIFA 20
Career Mode is the potential overall rating.

Those that
feature in the body of the article have the highest POT, with the others listed
in the table at the foot of the article having a potential rating of at least
83. All players in the article are 22-years-old or younger at the start of FIFA
20 Career Mode.

Matthijs de Ligt (OVR 85 – POT 93)

Team: Juventus
Best Position: LCB, CB, RCB
Age: 19
Overall/Potential: 85 OVR / 93 POT
Value (Release Clause): £45 million (£83.3 million)
Skill Moves: Two-Star
Best Attributes: 88 Strength, 86 Defensive Awareness, 85 Heading Accuracy

Touted as one of the best young defensive talents in the world,
Matthijs de Ligt made his big-money move in the summer, signing for Juventus
for £76.95 million.

Despite still only being 20-years-old, the Dutch wonderkid is already a
first-team regular for the biggest team in Italy. He’s also a core part of the
Netherlands national team too, already notching two goals in 21 games.

Standing 6’2’’ and 196lbs, De Ligt is quite a force along the backline
in FIFA 20 Career Mode, with his 88 strength, 86 defensive awareness, 85
heading accuracy, 84 jumping, 82 standing tackle, and 82 interceptions making
the Dutchman a strong option for any team.

Of course, the best aspect of De Ligt in Career Mode is his massive
potential. Already an 85 overall, the young centre-back has a 93 potential
rating.

Frenkie de Jong (OVR 86 – POT 92)

Team: FC Barcelona
Best Position: LM, LCM, LDM, CM, CDM, RDM, RCM, RM
Age: 22
Overall/Potential: 86 OVR / 92 POT
Value (Release Clause): £54 million (£121.5 million)
Skill Moves: Four-Star
Best Attributes: 90 Stamina, 90 Composure, 90 Short Pass

Having
signed in the summer for £67.5 million, Frenkie de Jong immediately became a
starting XI player for FC Barcelona.

Playing in
central midfield and defensive midfield, De Jong already has a goal and four
assists in 30 games despite his mostly defensive role.

Frenkie de
Jong, despite only being 22-years-old, is already a great central midfielder in
FIFA 20’s Career Mode. He can be deployed anywhere from full-back to central
midfield and up to either wing, with his versatility making him an even better
prospect.

The Netherlands
wonderkid has many incredibly high ratings already, such as 88 dribbling, 89
ball control, and 90 short passing, but it’s his 92 potential rating which makes
De Jong a superb player to have in the game.

Myron Boadu (OVR 75 – POT 88)

Team: AZ Alkmaar
Best Position: LW, LS, LF, ST, CF, RS, RF, RW
Age: 18
Overall/Potential: 75 OVR / 88 POT
Value (Release Clause): £11 million (£23 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Attributes: 89 Acceleration, 86 Agility, 85 Sprint Speed

Myron Boadu
has been on fire for AZ Alkmaar this season. The striker’s emphatic three goals
and two assists start to last season was cut short due to a major ankle injury,
but he’s come back with a vengeance.

This season,
determined to put the lost 2018/19 campaign behind him, the teenage Dutch
striker netted 19 goals and teed up a further 13 in his first 32 games of the
season. Boadu has also been given a shot in the national team, rewarding the
faith of Ronald Koeman by scoring on his debut.

Due to his
age and relatively low current overall rating, Boadu is one of the best and most
cost-effective wonderkids in FIFA 20.

Despite only
having a 75 overall rating, he already boasts an 89 for his acceleration, 86 in
agility, 85 in sprint speed, and a 78 for his finishing.

Mohamed Ihattaren (OVR 76 – POT 88)

Team: PSV Eindhoven
Best Position: LW, LM, LAM, CAM, RAM, RM, RW
Age: 17
Overall/Potential: 76 OVR / 88 POT
Value (Release Clause): £11 million (£17.3 million)
Skill Moves: Four-Star
Best Attributes: 81 Ball Control, 80 Vision, 77 Agility, 77 Dribbling

Still only
17-years-old, Mohamed Ihattaren has already notched over 40 games, seven goals,
and nine assists for PSV Eindhoven.

This season,
the skilful Dutch wonderkid has been a first-team regular, featuring in
attacking midfield and on the right wing.

As you would
assume from a 17-year-old on FIFA 20, Ihattaren doesn’t have many favourable
attribute ratings at the start of Career Mode.

Ihattaren
does need some time to develop into his mighty 88 potential rating, but for
now, his 81 ball control, 77 dribbling, 75 acceleration, 74 sprint speed, 77
agility, and 80 vision are still quite usable attributes.

Donny van de Beek (OVR 83 – POT 88)

Team: Ajax
Best Position: LF, LAM, LCM, CM, CAM, CF, RF, RAM, RCM
Age: 22
Overall/Potential: 83 OVR / 88 POT
Value (Release Clause): £30.5 million (£45.1 million)
Skill Moves: Three-Star
Best Attributes: 92 Stamina, 86 Attack Positioning, 85 Composure, 85 Ball Control

Last summer, Frenkie de Jong raked in £67.5 million for Ajax, and this
summer, attacking midfielder Donny van de Beek looks to bring the Eredivisie
giants another huge sum.

Playing from the middle of the park, sometimes a bit deeper than
attacking midfield, Van de Beek has already surpassed 40 goals and 30 assists
across 167 appearances for Ajax.

The Dutch wonderkid boasts tremendously useful attribute ratings for
FIFA 20’s Career Mode, with 92 stamina, 86 attack positioning, 85 composure, 85
ball control, 83 reactions, 83 short passing, 82 shot power, and 82 vision.

However, his 83 overall rating at the age of 22 means that Van de Beek’s
release clause is fairly steep at £45.1 million. Then again, the 88 potential
rating will make the investment worthwhile.
